14 Chapter 14

A/N

Damn, I forgot to go to the gym today.

That's 10 years in a row now...

Hehe Enjoy! 💙

Sahana P.O.V. (9:30 a.m. Present time)

"Jai.." I whispered

But Sami and Cassia couldn't hear. I kept staring at him without them noticing.

There was another man with him, and as they were talking, I made eye contact with him. "Shit!" I whispered and quickly turned back.

Cassia and Sami stared at me in confusion, "Girl you ok?" Cassia asked. "Oh yeah, I'm fine." I smiled, inside my heart beating out my chest.

Out of all the people in the world to enter this café, why did it have to be him??

Jai P.O.V.

"So, what do you wanna get?" Kai asked smiling all jolly.

Seriously, I don't get it.

How is this dude always so happy? And how is he even my best friend?

We are polar opposites, yet we are as close as ever.

He is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS happy. Sometimes to the point where I think he should get some help. I, on the other hand, am more of a calm person. I can be cheerful if I want to, I just don't think it suits me.

Kai is not organized at all, he's all over the place. Whereas I am, for the most part, organized and neat.

Kai's style is very out there. Bright colors, accessories, and things that are very out of the ordinary fit him well. Me on the other hand, am very simple and wear neutral colors. Once in a while though, I would go out and buy different things but it's rare. It's the same deal with accessories. Maybe I'm just a boring person compared to Kai?

We are very different people,

but are attached like glue.

"I already told you, I had breakfast." I replied. Kai pouted, "Can't you get a coffee or something at least? I don't want to be the only one eating." I made a 'you are so hopeless' face at him, "Oh and when did you suddenly care about me eating? Also, I already had a coffee." Kai tried reasoning with me, "Well can't you get a chai then? Any Indian will take the opportunity to sip on some hot delicious chai when it comes," he said acting it out and grinned at me. I sighed, "You're right, I can't lose this opportunity to drink such delicious chai when it comes daily for literally everyone," I said sarcastically. "And why are we standing like this for so long? People might think we are weird. Let's go find a seat."

But before I could walk towards an open table Kai stopped me and pointed, "Hey dude look, aren't those girls cute? Let's go sit next to them and see if it goes anywhere." I looked at him an annoyance, "Are you serious dude, right after a break up for me?"

"As a rebound, duh." he said trying to convince me.

"No, I would never. You are practically using an innocent woman and playing with her heart, to get over the previous person you were with. You are a brainless prick with no heart to do such a thing," I snapped. "Woah, damn I didn't mean it like that," Kai said putting his hands up. I looked at the group of women he was pointing to and saw the woman from the elevator there. We made eye contact and smiled at each other. Her face was slightly surprised.

So, I got to meet her again, huh. Now I can go ask for her name, I thought.

"Let's go there," I started walking towards the table next to them. "Huh, you just said no?" Kai said confused.

"I said no to rebounds, not to sit next to them."

Sahana P.O.V.

God, please don't come here.

I already had enough of you from last night and earlier today.

I can't even look at your face.

Don't do this to me.

Just please don't come here and it'll be better for the both of us.

"Oh, look! He's coming this way!" Sami said.

Of course, he fucking comes this way.

Because he somehow read my mind and decided to do exactly the opposite of what I wanted

which is just fucking great.

But how could he do that, if he didn't know I was here?

I don't think he saw me, and I only made eye contact with his friend.

His friend looked kinda cute tho, not gonna lie.

Here we go again with your unnecessary thoughts.

Sahana. Just stop.

My head was down, and I just stared at my legs. Some of my hair fell in front of my face.

"Girl bring your head up, what the hell are you doing?" I heard Cassia say. Slowly, I brought my head up while hearing chairs moving.

Ugh, it's them.

Quickly, I tried to think of a way to make sure Jai won't see me, so I turned my chair completely away from them so, they can only see my back.

"Well isn't a surprise to see you here?" I heard Sami say. Beside me, I heard, "Yeah, for sure," I heard a deep chuckle, "You know though, I still haven't gotten your name?"

"Oh my god! How could I not tell you my name? Well, I am Samhita Gopal but call me Sami." She replied. Then Cassia spoke, "Hi I am Cassia Menon if you are wondering." She smiled. "Hi," Jai said.

"Now that I am thinking about it, I haven't caught your name either." Sami said.

"Oh, well I am Jai Leonis," he said and pointed to the person sitting next to him, "And he's Kai Adair." "I can introduce myself you know?" Kai said.

"Got it, Jai Leonis. Wait, Jai Leonis??"Sami then turned and looked at me while Cassia occupied their attention,

THE Jai Leonis? As in your neighbor that broke into your apartment, Jai Leonis?

I understood everything she said through our eye contact and nodded.

What?? Are you serious? Why didn't you say hi? He's right there?? She eyed me.

Are you crazy?? Why would I after what he did?? Hell no, mom!? I eyed right back.

"Sahana," Sami whispered in frustration.

"Wait, Sahana?" It was Jai. I acted like I didn't hear him.

"Sahana, I know it's you now." Jai said.

Great, now I'm fucked, I eyed Sami. I turned to face Jai, "Well isn't it a surprise to see you here?" "That's literally what I said, you idiot." Sami faintly whispered enough for me to hear. "I don't fucking care. You're the one who's making me talk to him in the first place. Do you think I want to? Hell to the fuck no." I snapped back, still whispering. Then I heard Jai speak again.

"Yeah, it is? What are you doing here, how do you know Cassia and Sami?" Jai asked.

Are you serious right now? I thought.

Was he so into the conversation between Sami and Cassia, which they were only introducing themselves, to the point where he didn't notice another whole human body?

God this dude.

Well on second thought, that was the plan. Whatever, never mind.

"They are my best friends," I replied coldly.

"Ah, got it," he replied. "But with that aside, you know I still have to make it up to you."

"Oh honey, you have to do a lot of things to do in order to make up to me," I chuckled and soon realized we were in the perfect situation for Jai to perform his first act for forgiveness, "But for now, let's start with something simple."

Jai looked at me curiously, "And what is that?"

I got up from my chair and grabbed my bag, "What do you do for a living?" I asked.

"Investment banker." He answered.

"Oh, impressive." I nodded and smirked,

"Well then, he is paying for all three of our meals!! Just give the check to him!!" I said to the waiter.

Jai's expression was priceless, but I held in my laughter. I patted Jai's shoulder and winked at him,

"I'll see you, neighbor."
