13 survivor's settlement

...we have to meet this place's boss"

...

Hiro was very tired because of continuous traveling and he just wanted to sleep, but still, he went to the main building with his brothers because the meeting with the boss of this place was going to be very exciting... or so he thought.

As he looked around, he could see several small houses, with a large campfire area around which was surrounded by people who were talking.

However, when these people saw the guys walking with Charlie, Roger and his group, they had varied expressions on their faces, most of them being disgusted and contempt with some having fear.

"Hey guys, why are these people looking at us, as if we are here to steal their sons and daughters from them?" asked Hiro under his breath.

"Hmm, they think we are here to steal their food and become a liability to the settlement, as if they are not a liability to the settlement themselves," Harry replied with scorn on his face.

Surprisingly, this time Daniel replied, "Well if people find a sense of security in something given to them for free, they'll take it for granted."

Hmmm, that's true, but now that I think about it, aren't everybody like that... Hiro thought.

While he was observing the surroundings, he noticed some other strange things, like the area that looked like the center of the settlement had a lot of dents on the ground, as if a fight had taken place here.

"Hmm, did someone fight a bull here?" asked Hiro.

"Well, this was the place where the fight between Roger and his group against the boss took place," replied Charlie.

"Fight over what?" unexpectedly this question was asked by Harry.

Apparently, even Harry does not know everything... Hiro thought.

"I think it was over the leadership of the settlement or something, and Roger and his group were utterly destroyed," Charlie said as he recited the last part quietly so as not to attract Roger's attention.

But it seemed Roger's attention was on something else because after seeing the battlefield, he was staring into space.

As they continued walking, their eyes fell on a mansion-like house at the end of the bootcamp.

It was surrounded by many people who kept shouting.

"PLEASEEE SAVE MY SON!!! HE WAS TAKEN BY ONE OF THE MONSTERS. PLEASEEE, I REQUEST YOU; I WILL GIVE YOU ALL THE MONEY I HAVE" shouted a middle-aged man, his face covered in snot and tears, wearing a tuxedo that was torn in many places.

"HELP MY DAUGHTER SHE SHOULD STILL BE IN HER HOME, IF WE HURRY, WE CAN STILL SAVE HER, PLEASE HELPPP!!!" A young woman between the ages of 25 and 26 shouted.

" HELPPP..."

There were more people present, shouting for their family members to be rescued.

"Who are these people and what happened to their family members?" asked Hiro.

"These are all people who lost their respective family members to the monsters, but they refuse to believe that their family members are dead. So they are requesting for boss help."

"The middle-aged man in the tuxedo is Mr. Maxwell, a wealthy businessman who lost his son in the clutches of a monster. The lady there is Julie, she left her daughter at home to go grocery shopping and when the apocalypse hit she came here and while we were on our way to the grocery store we checked her house. It was destroyed." Said Charlie.

How is it that all of this does not faze this kid, it seems this kid matured early, hmm his childhood would have not been easy. And this apocalypse may not be what was shown in the novels and shows. I thought I would live out my fantasy in this world, become stronger, and have a harem, but it looks like I would have to become serious too, or I would be like those people and cry for my brothers that I could not save... thought Hiro.

As he came to that conclusion, an emotion he thought he would never have shown on his face... Determination.

As soon as Harry saw him, he knew what that meant, but he thought it over for later because the meeting with this boss was more important. There were a few things he wanted to talk about, such as the threat of the incoming Adron Norm and future events.

As they moved forward through the crowd into the mansion, Charlie said, "Roger, go in first and deliver the supplies to the boss, he'll distribute them evenly."

"Kid, I'll say it again, do not order me Although you are protected by that man, I will kill you even if it costs me my life," Roger replied seriously while looking at Charlie.

Roger and his group then went inside and came out 15 minutes later with angry expressions on their faces.

He said, "Who does he think he is? I am definitely going to rip him to shreds if it's the last thing I do."

"Guys, cmon, we will hunt our own food, we do not need his protection," he continued as he stormed out.

If someone does not have the courage to face the monsters, he cannot kill them or awaken his abilities. Roger's past actions showed that he was a coward who liked to pretend he was strong, but he would bend himself to someone, who was strong.

Well, most people were like that in the apocalypse and whoever had the courage would either die or become strong enough to rule the world. In his past cycle, Harry was a coward who was afraid of death, but after coming face to face with death and getting a chance, he changed.

"Let us go inside guys, you wanted to meet the boss right? He's inside." Said Charlie.

As they entered the room they saw dim red lights everywhere.

"Let me turn on the light," Charlie sounded from behind them.

And what they saw was a man whose face was covered with bandages that only left room for his eyes.

He was wearing a black trench coat, with a white shirt underneath, and below were black pants.

"Hmmm, we have guests." a crisp voice rang out.
