13 Chapter 12 - The Beginning of the End.

"CHARGE!!!"

The raging roars of man echoed in the ravaged land around the Capitol, after the Tower had fallen all of the people who lived in the major cities became homeless, prey to wandering beasts of all kind, the ground was war-torn and derelict of plant life, ash rained from the sky as claw and metal go head to head.

A viscous war between the feral beasts and the remainder of humans that had survived, the weaker people rushing for their lives to shelter when the larger beasts emerged, the cataclysmic rupture of the tower awoke them from their slumber as they rise from the ground, titans and giants of different shapes and sizes left their graves. Breaking the ground with them.

Their massive hands grab running civilians and head them straight for their mouths, chewing the screaming bodies before they're silenced swiftly, a massive gulp and they were gone, condemned to the stomach of living giants, waiting for their slow and painful death.

The rampaging giants had occupied the Capitol in hours, leaving anyone inside the now useless walls were trapped by the roaming beasts, their deformed bodies eating the scraps of their previous prey, the hiding men women and children huddle in the walls of the Capitol, gazing out into the lands with worried and anxious eyes.

"What are we going to do?! They've been out there for hours now!" A woman whispers in fear as she cowers away from the window her husband hugging her tightly, holding a tiny tattered doll as they cry in silence, the group of people hiding out in their homes look on fearfully, a soft glowing light flickers in the corner.

Fluttering into the middle of the room, his voice quiet and serious. It was Nix, escaping from the underground after the battle between the Evil Prince and the Defenders of Aspendria, the battle that brought these things here.

"They're exploring their home land, before the kingdoms were built...the giants owned this realm...and they were here before us all"

"But what do they want?" One asks as he looks on at the fairy, begging for answers.

When a deeper and calmer voice also calls out into the room, a cloak covering her head as her eyes shone in the light outside...her brow creased with focus and a vigilant smirk painted her lips.

"They want to eat you...I thought that was established already" she says as she lowers her cloak, the blaze in her eyes was determined to strike the frightened civilians with determination. Screams begin to grow louder as the thumping of the giants began to shake the ground, crashing through the wall and immediately smashing into nearby houses and buildings, the civilians cowering even lower.

Cyren watches on at their shaking with a distressed glare, knowing that if she was going to save these people she'd have to work hard to get them all to safety, over 6 mouths to feed...

"I haven't the patience to escort you all to safety, but i can give you enough time to get away from this place...and find somewhere safer yourselves" she graces them with calming words as she exits the building, the people watching her with laser focused stares, she slowly walks up to one of the giants as its fist plummets into a house.

Grabbing multiple people in one hand as he squeezes, his giant fingers leak with thick copious blood. A wide smile on its face in a permanent grin, its skin stretched and retched.

He slurps over his fingers in a child like manner, before a bolt of lightening hits him in the eye causing him to stagger and cry out loudly, alerting the others to the gaping hole in the wall, 3 others join up and cradle the runt of the pack, looking on at Cyren as electricity flows up and down her arm. Crackling with incredible energy.

Her eyes slowly glow with thunderous energy as her feet lifts from the ground. Wind begins swirling at her feet, taking one deep breath, the civilians moving the edges while the giants were preoccupied with Cyren, Nix guiding them at the front of the whole group.

The sky slightly opens up as sun light finally glares over the land in days, the rays of light landing on one of the giants as its insides glow with searing sunbeams cutting it in half in an instant. Its cut halves turning back to stone as the ground reabsorbs the body swiftly. the others roaring at the sky witch with gaping mouths, charging her foolishly.

Her hands lift as the wind sweeps them off their feet, their backs hitting the ground with huge thuds, breaking and cracking the ground beneath them as the civilians scramble across the badlands and into the forest, out of sight from the towering beings.

More lightening erupts from her hands with ease, a long stretch of coursing sparks hit the staggered giants with a fierce whip. As soon as she was satisfied, the wind beneath her feet carries her over them as she flies high into the air, looking down upon the land as she surpasses the dark clouds,.

Bright light shines on her exposed skin as she absorbs the pure air at the top, her skin a beautiful glow as she breathes in deeper, feeling her power grow as she searches in the direction of her home, the stable wind keeping her afloat as she soars the sky, slowly making her way towards Candervale.

"Need to warn them, need to tell Matron the truth..." she mutters to her self, slightly twitching, a side effect from the dysmorphia spell. Her jet black hair flows gracefully behind her, disappearing into the clouds.

"Keep following me, I know of a nearby bunker!" Nix quietly ushers the civilians through he noisy forest, distant thuds of the giants could be heard as they huddle together like penguins, the piercing cold attacks them with viscous sweeps of freezing temperature.

Eventually encountering a bunker in the ground as one of the men tries to open it, but it doesn't budge, shuffling could be heard in the nearby forest, beyond the trees lay spying eyes that stare intently, more eyes begin to stare as footsteps rush towards them. Their panic getting the best of them, a completely cloaked individual in the group turns around and gazes into the forest, a sigh escapes them as a thin white breath leaves their mouth.

"GET DOWN!" the figure shouts, unfurling their cloak revealing his scratched up armor, missing an arm piece as he draws his sword, Charles Accrington stands in front of the civilians as blood red armor descends upon them quickly, attacking Charles as he deflects and parries their advances.

The group thins out as they all scatter in different directions, more suits of red armor race in the trees after them, Nix startled by the surprise attack gets knocked to the floor, picked up in a glass jar as hes trapped.

"Restrain that soldier, Find the runners this instant!" One says, Charles immediately getting ganged up on by the hunters, knocking him to the ground as they disarm him, growling in restraint as they hold him down.

The leader of the attackers approaches him with a steadied walk, an angry pep in his step.

"You know, its funny seeing you fight for a race you allowed to be used in the worst way...a traitor to monsters and humans..." he says, his voice cutting deep into Charles as his face turns to the side, his mouth covered in mud and grass.

"I know that voice..."

He strains his neck against his restrainers, gazing up at the man who mocks him, scoffing once he gazes upon his face.

"Fucking Lance Terrings...should've known you'd crawl back to your roots"

"So did you, get him up...the king will want to speak to this one personally" he sneers in his face as hes brought back up to his knees, his eyes flitting around him as he watches the man with the jar walk around him, Nix banging on the glass with all his might, but couldn't break it open.

Charles takes his chance, leaning back as his head comes into contact with his restrainers chin, letting go as he grabs the jar off the man and throws it at a nearby tree making it smash into tiny pieces, Nix taking the opportunity flies away at the speed of light. Avoiding the outstretched arms and zooming into the clearing, away from them all.

Charles yells after him as hes being dragged back into his captors hands.

"FIND THE OTHERS! BRING THEM TOGETHER!"

Lance rips off his glove, strutting to Charles as he back hands him in the face, getting in his mug straight after the hit, the men behind him holding him upright.

"You're going to regret that Accrington" Lance spits at him.

"Shove it you fucking freak"

He smiles and looks to his men with an amused look.

"Get this traitor on the walk...we've got a long journey ahead of us, I hope your feet can keep up"

And with that, the captured were loaded into a cage at the back of a carriage pulled by two horses, but Accrington was attached to the cage by a long chain, dragging behind it by a few feet, looking at it with tired eyes.

The carriage begins moving once Lance had entered it, the cage moving along as Charles is pulled harshly to his knees by the speed. Scrambling to get to his feet, pulled by the cart in the direction of the forest, going deeper as they look for more prisoners to take back to their temple.

The Stag awaits his prize as the night only grows longer, the return of the hunters shifting the entire balance as giants roam slowly through Aspendria...

The nightmare has truly begun.
