2 Excuse Me?

We reached the end of the hallway where we were stopped by a heavy door bearing a nailed in large red restriction sign. This was the end of our exploration. I turned around to head back the way we came when the faint sound of a scanner beeped behind me. Instead of obeying the bold sign, Jasper had other plans. He scanned dad's all-access pass to try and open the door. I don't know why but at that moment, my palms got sweaty and my heart started to thud heavily in my chest.

The scanner flashed white a couple times checking the authenticity of dad's access card, and with each flash, my heart thudded louder and louder. Beep...beep...beep...buzz. The door let us in.

Hesitant but curious I stood behind Jasper, waiting for his move. Taking a few steps inside just seconds after the door let us in. One singular supernatural holding room was all that was inside, along with another door leading to the labs. The info card contained nothing more than a brief description, and it was not even a thorough description. The supernatural was male, Twenty years of age, type unknown, and the population of his type also unknown.

"Where is he?" my eyes scanning every corner of the room.

"I don't know," Jasper steps back towards the wall taking one more scan beyond the glass. "Wait! I see something" He gets a bit closer trying to make it out, "a faint silhouette, standing just there in the center of the room"

"I don't see anything"

"A faint white foggy line illustrating the shape of a muscular boy"

"Are you making this up?"

A few seconds later a woman worker emerged from the door leading to the labs. I walked up to her, completely forgetting that we were in the restricted area, "Excuse me, is there a supernatural here? It see-"

My brother interrupts, "Please show her that I'm telling the truth"

The worker takes one look at the glass when her eyes suddenly widen in shock. The boy she used to see behind this window has turned into a foggy silhouette "He's changed," she says in barely a whisper.

Looking at the woman, my expression filled with wonder, "excuse me?"

"Are you sure you don't see anything behind that glass, not even a faint moving line?"

I take one look back towards the glass and then back to the women, "No, not at all..."

"I must tell Sarah immediately"

She takes off jogging back towards the door she came from, "Wait right here, I know you must be confused but your questions will soon be answered"

Confusion takes form in my eyes and I turn to look at Jasper, "what just happened?"

He looks at me, his hand muffling a laugh "Maybe you were so ugly that when the super saw you enter the room he disappeared right into thin air."

Irritated, I punched him right on his shoulder before sitting down on the bench across from the window.

"Ow that hurt!" He rubbed his shoulder like a kid and sat down next to me. A few minutes go by in silence when I finally break it. "Hey, what's Mr. restriction up to?" Jasper looks up from the ground, "Um, he's standing closer to the glass and might be staring at us, or you, I can't tell because he's kinda transparent…"

"Oh" I look at the letters spelling restricted area above his room, "I wonder what he did to get put in here, it doesn't seem like he would be any danger to anyone"

After about twenty minutes since the woman left, she walked through the lab door again. This time bringing along another woman, who I assume to be the one she said she was going to talk to, Sarah. She had dirty blonde hair pulled back into a tight ponytail and wore a white lab coat which held a small name tag pinned to the chest stating that she was the head researcher.

Jasper and I stood up almost immediately as they entered, both of us eager to learn about the restriction area supernatural.

The woman thought to be Sarah walked towards me reaching out her hand, "You must be Lucia, it's very nice to finally meet you, I'm Sarah, the head researcher of this institute"

"Hi, yes, I was told you had answers?" We let our hands fall to our sides and she started to explain what had happened to the boy in the holding room. As she spoke I tried to hold my posture, wanting to appear mature enough to be in a conversation with these lab specialists.

"Well, as you do not know, this boy is one of the few of his kind. We don't know how many there are to be quite frank so we have been studying his behavior in hopes of helping others like him. This morning he was actually a human-looking supernatural. We've never seen him in this form, but we do have some theories as to why this has happened...and it all starts with you."
