A New Day

Even the clouds in the sky were helping the moon to hide on this dark night, the forest covering the land below for as far as the eye can see shading the wandering creatures of the night from sight.

Hidden within the vast forest was a small cavernous clearing the trees covering the ground in shadow, sleeping within those tree branches was a young boy his dark brown hoodie up covering his head. The boy slept soundly within the trees as the creatures scurried around in the forest. On the forest floor below lay the last dying embers of a campfire which kept the white of the snow away and gave just enough heat to keep the chill of the night at bay.

The night was young, and much would change, for this boy's true journey was only just beginning.

White snow glistened in the morning sun covering the forest for all to see, except for in a single small clearing in which a young boy lay sleeping within the trees. The area around the campfire was even still clear of the snow. Although the snow hadn't settled by the fire it did steal away the remaining heat, and the young boy awoke with a shiver.

Glancing around the boy's purple eye shone in the morning rays 'The snow has covered everything' the boy though as he started to move. The boy made his way down from the tree branches to the snow covered ground. 'All of the heat from the fire is fully gone now it wont be easy to restart a fire now.' With one last glance to the fire pit the boy turned away.

He reached the base of the tree that he slept in the night before and glanced around 'looks clear, I have to get sorted and start to move soon if I'm going to make it back to Garbell Village before the ceremony.' He crouched down and looked into the root knot at the base of the tree, reaching in he caught hold of his pack and pulled it free.

'I will need to go hunting before I have to travel I only have enough food to last me for the morning.' The boy stood up after checking his pack, he made his way into the snow covered the forest 'it cold again, the snow not going to go away anytime soon but at least in the forest most of the snow is actually caught by the dense trees'.

With the sun on the rise the boy started to make his way towards Garbell Village. 'The day is finally here soon I will be able to leave this place.' As he travelled he reached up to secure his hood as he scan the forest for the path that would take him back to the village as he walked forward he eat some food 'this maybe the only chance that I have to eat today so I have to make the most of it.'

As he moved the sun finally came to land on him and he pull his dark brown hoodie up high, and the sun exposed his worn-out clothes. He wore a black coat over his brown hoodie that was riddled with tares and his trousers where a black and thread bare. 'I really need to acquire some new clothes and my shoes are not going to last much longer, but the ability to acquire money for myself here is far to low even these clothes were scavenged from what people had left when they wander through the forest. It so stupid that they won't let me do anything to earn money.'

The ground crunched lightly under the boy's feet as he moved through the undergrowth, suddenly he paused crouching down as his purple eyes scanning the forest around him. His eyes landed on a meter tall four-legged creature that was searching through the undergrowth. It had a pair of antlers that where a mix of brown and white the colours spiralling through their lengths, it body was covered in white fur with brown streaks running down its flanks.

"Elfied!" The boy whispered. He slowly made his way forward as he calculated the time that he had and what he wanted to achieve 'I should have time to catch it before heading back to the village.' With his decision made, he headed off into the forest, his hunt was only just beginning, and time was short.
