CHAPTER 3: ARIANNA KENDALL

From the memories of the original host of the body, Irene was able to piece together what she needed to survive in this unusual new world.

Irene deduced from the recollections that the person's name was Arianna Kendall and that she was a young noble lady. She was descended from the House of the Duke of Lexus; her ancestry was royal, and the title was passed down from generation to generation.

Even though the planet they were on was called earth and had five continents, Arianna's world was very different from Irene's. As monarchy still exists in other parts of the new world, there existed a combination of kingdoms and countries.

Arianna lived in a kingdom ruled by a monarch, and her kingdom's name was Slecia, which was situated on the continent of Sheyor. Sheyor, Niasis, Aumur, Xaegris, and Egeon were the continents in question.

There were a number of dukes in Slecia kingdom, and there were also other dukedoms known as the great four, of which the Kendall's were not a part of.

The Duke of Lexus was ranked twenty out of fifty dukes in the kingdom, signifying that he was superior to others that ranked below him. The Kendall's were a branch of the royal family from a fallen dynasty than the one in power at the time. They weren't particularly powerful, but they had a lot of clout.

Her ancestors never had a chance to rule the kingdom as they were never in line for the throne, therefore when the civil war broke out, the main branches fell and the Kendall line was preserved because they didn't support the wrong side. They had remained neutral, and also because they lacked the power to alter what had occurred to the kingdom at the time, they were absolved.

Some thought her forefathers were traitors or cowards, but Irene understood it didn't really matter. What mattered was that the innocent's blood wasn't spilled, and her forefathers were smart enough to avoid being cannon fodder.

Arianna was the youngest in her family, and her parents were the reigning Duke and Duchess, ignoring the issue of lineage. Despite the fact that they were in their sixties, they appeared to be very energetic and madly in love.

Arianna was the family's youngest and fourth child. There was one boy and three girls in the family. Her older brother, who was in his forties, married, and the father of three children, was the eldest of them all. After her father, Anderson was the next duke, and he was already in control of the family business.

After Anderson, there came Bethany, who was four years Anderson's junior, married, and the mother of two children. Bethany was married to a jewelry industry mogul, and this woman was living the high life as a socialite.

Jorgie, the third child, is in her late twenties, married, and has one child with her husband, who is a lawyer and owns a law firm.

Arianna, who is nineteen and very single, is the last one. Arianna's life can be described as extraordinary. The young girl was born when her parents were in their latter years. They had not anticipated having a child when they were in their forties.

Everyone spoiled the little baby when she was safely delivered. Arianna was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and never lacked anything in her life, but there was one exception, and this was the source of her fate.

Arianna was only thirteen years old when she fell in love with her savior. She was saved by a young duke back then; she had just had her first menstrual period and was experiencing cramps and didn't know what to do, so the eighteen-year-old young duke came to her rescue like a white knight on such a significant day.

Arianna made a promise to herself that she would marry only him. Arianna was adamant about her choice, and it was no secret that she admired the young duke, but nothing can be forced.

The young duke didn't like her at all, yet he fell madly in love with a commoner, and thus the young lady'scrush was snatched by a girl from nowhere. It was good for the girl that the relationship was deliberately private, and Arianna was in the dark about what was going on in her crush's duchy at that time.

However, everything changed the day Arianna saw her crush's grand and romantic proposal to another woman on the internet. Arianna boiled and snapped, unable to tolerate it, and so as a result, the young girl blew her top off and did some heinous acts, which her family covered up.

They all understood she was in pain and needed to vent, but the young duke hailed from a higher-ranking duchy than theirs. When she realized she couldn't sway him to change his mind, she devised a plan to make him remember her name always.

Arianna overdosed herself with pills one night, copying a scene from one of the novels she had read. The dose was quite powerful, and when they noticed she had attempted to commit suicide, they rushed her to the hospital, where she was in a comatose state.

Arianna chose a method to keep her name in her crush's mind just for sake of unrequited love. But this method was useless to Irene, who was well aware that Arianna was just being delusional and her efforts were totally useless.

Arianna loved the guy, but he had never said anything to her; she should have taken a clue and accepted the outcome, but she was so enamored with him that she didn't realize she was fighting a losing battle.

Irene felt sorry for the young lady after absorbing all of the memories. Arianna would be her name from now on; there would be no more Irene as she was already gone. Irene despised the young duke for failing to adequately explain himself to the young lady.

He should have expressed his message clearly so that the young lady would not have any more delusions; the young duke was partially to blame for the tragedy ..and she was going to make him regret it so much that he had not really paid the previous Arianna a second glance.

She felt sorry for the family because their daughter had just died and they'll never know, but she promised to love and protect them as if they were her own for as long as she was breathing.

She also hopes Arianna's wishes doesn't include her reclaiming hold of that scum of a guy, for she will not force a donkey to drink. A man who can't appreciate a woman's affection in that manner was someone Irene would not want.
