The tower

Waking up was once again done through a speaker and the voice of the chairman. With excitement, Jiyu walked to the deck of the ship. Waiting for them to board and enter the island where the tower was located. Kori who previously slept also woke up but sat still just enjoying the fresh air of the outside world.

After waiting for 10 minutes the tower came into sight. It was a massive tower that seemed to be made of black brick while on the top floors mist surrounded the tower. A dark cloud with rain was hanging above while from time to time lighting could be seen striking down. An impressive tower to say the least. Through the speaker Gon's voice once more resounded "the tower that you all see is called the tower of death.

It is worthy of its name since the number of people that lost their lives in this tower is immense. I want to wish you all good luck. May you all live to see another day." And with that, the speech ended. The participants all walked off the ship onto the island. Some immediately ran towards the tower while others carefully assessed their situation. And as it turned out that was for the best. Some of the previous participants who ran fell and were spiked by several iron spikes.

It seemed that the second phase had already started. A hunter had to be always ready so this was not something weird at all. Jiyu walked forward while keeping his attention span high from time to time dodging some spikes. 3 participants already lost their lives before entering the tower. When Jiyu finally arrived at the entrance he entered without second thought.

Darkness was what greeted his eyes for several minutes it was as dark as the night. Until he stood in a round open space. Many doors were there in total 50 he immediately realized what this was. Each door would lead to a different way and maybe even a different end examinator. Without thinking, Jiyu picked the door right in front of him entering the first level of the tower.

When he stepped through the door darkness greeted his eyes once more. But when he finally saw light again danger was felt. Immediately dodging to his left he evaded whatever was coming towards him. His eyes got used to the light again and finally had sight again.

It was a room decorated in animal fur and what attacked him was a small tiger. But instead of a normal tiger, this once had a black fur with orange stripes its teeth were also much bigger. Overall it looked impressive from time to time slight lighting could be seen sparking around the beast. "Something like Godspeed only on a much lower scale" is what Jiyu concluded out of this.

The beast before him was a magical beast.

The tiger moved again its mouth opening showing its teeth trying to bite of Jiyu's head. But the strike was easily dodged by Jiyu who just sidestepped. The cub who had woken up opened its mouth and send ice towards the paws of the tiger. Stopped in its momentum Jiyu moved and just a second later its head could be seen flying off.

Another easy kill is what he thought but he knew the upper floors wouldn't be so easy. But to his surprise, the first 4 levels were easily passed. The only thing that really happened were some fights with magical beasts the species varied. One was a tiger yet another was a bird it was truly amazing to see. Alas, the beasts could only die under the hand of the boy.

But when he entered the fifth level he saw something that surprised him. A room decorated in the ancient style of Japan. An armor that seemed to belong to a samurai was in the room while next to it sat a man. Seemingly in his 40's dressed in a black kimono with his katana at his side.

Maybe the most notable feature of him was his scar that seemed to stretch from his eye to his chest. He sat there calmly sipping tea with his eyes closed. Just what was the test here? But the moment Jiyu set a foot into the house the man's eyes opened. Without even looking towards the person in his house he spoke. "Are you my opponent this time?"

While he grabbed his katana and stood up.
