The spartan warrior

It seemed as if the tower had some sort of order to it. It didn't slowly increase in difficulty but it seemed to be completely random. But one thing was for certain each 5 levels a mini-boss would be there to fight. Because since Jiyu passed the previous few levels he once more entered a room where a man stood.

This time what he saw shocked him the man before him was wearing no shirt yet a golden war armor clung to his chest. and the scars on his body were apparent. It was clear that the man before his eyes had been in many battles and survived them. The man was training with a sword a sword a roman warrior would use. When he saw this it clicked in his head the man before him was a warrior from the Roman period.

To be precise he was an elite level warrior. A spartan the warriors that were said to be born for war. Their whole life was in preparation to make the best warriors the competition was insane since a young age. The man looked back towards the boy that just entered his residence. "It been a while since I fought someone will you be my opponent," the man said with a sharp gaze.

Jiyu put his right hand towards his back while he pulled out the katana he had previously got from the samurai warrior on the fifth level. Jiyu was trained in the art of many martial arts so this also included the art of the sword, spear, and bow. If he was honest with himself he liked the sword or rather the katana the most.

But what could one do with a sword in a world of human monsters that used nen? He had given up on the idea of ever using a katana as his weapon. But seeing the previous samurai and how much power he wielded in such a weakened state left an impression on him. Who said he had to fight barehanded?

That his father and uncle did that in their youth was something of their choice why would he need to follow the same path? The katana would once more be wielded by a person that wanted battle. If the samurai would see this he would smile to see his partner being wielded once more.

Both people disappeared from their previous positions and clashed. The sounds of wind could be heard since the impact was high. Both people flew a bit back. However, Jiyu flew further than the spartan before him. It was clear that something was needed to win this battle only his physical strength wouldn't be enough.

And he wasn't stupid enough to think his swordsmanship would be better than someone who trained for dozens of years and stepped onto a real battlefield. So the only other option was, Kori. The ability to freeze was something that was useful in such a battle. A battle between two skilled fighters would be decided in just a mere second. If Kori could just freeze the spartan on his place for a second.

Jiyu could deal a fatal blow. However, the small cub seemed to be rather tired from all the freezing he did these past few days. This was of course not something weird since he was still a cub. Who would expect a human baby to be able to fight a grown man? An overhead strike was headed towards Jiyu who barely dodged the strike. The spartan didn't show any mercy he kept going strike after strike was headed towards Jiyu.

Barely blocking while he was driven back until finally, his back was against the wall. Each strike sent towards him was filled with the intent to kill. "Kori I know I ask a lot of you but please freeze his feet right now" and with tiredness, in his eyes, Kofi opened his mouth once more. The amount of ice that came out of his mouth was way less than before but he managed to freeze the feet of the spartan.

Without any hesitation, Jiyu slashed his katana towards the Spartan who still tried to get free from the ice. However, his last moment was just about to happen. The katana hit his neck and made a wound he would never survive from. His knees went weak and slowly he fell down with an expression of shock at how fast everything happened.

At first, he thought he would easily win this fight but who would think that the boy wouldn't fight honorably. But use the cub on his head to freeze his feet to the ground. Their views differed all that mattered to Jiyu was survival. It didn't matter if a warrior saw it as not honorable. Honor was something he wouldn't survive with. He was born into a family of assassins if one expected honor from them they would laugh.

With a new experience and his first real murder, Jiyu went on his way. If one saw his exterior appearance he looked fine. But if one looked internally they would find his feelings were complicated. His hands slightly shook but nobody could notice. The feeling of killing a real person was something he wouldn't forget ever. The feeling was different from anything he ever felt.

But he also knew that not each enemy would be as honorable as the samurai he defeated before. When he came into this room before and saw the spartan he thought that more gifts would be here. But he was wrong the only thing that happened was that he had to fight to the death with the warrior. No special gifts like a katana were given to him.

The only thing he had gained was his first kill and more experience.

Like that he went on his way to get through more levels and reach the examinator.
