10 Saving

Jiyu arrived at the cave that he rested at before with the magical deer on his shoulder. 350 pounds on his shoulder but his speed didn't take any dramatic turns. Just as he came to the cave the weather changed once more.

A massive snowstorm descended onto the island. Something unexpected was noticed by the young boy. "The animals change depending on the climate" if the deer he had killed before spewed fire it would right now spew ice.

An ever-changing climate and an ever-changing enemy. Truly a good place for one to see who has potential. If one depended only on the knowledge they would posses they would run into a problem on this island. If one couldn't adapt they would run into a problem. An island that was perfect for the making of new talented hunters.

The dark descended onto the island announcing the beginning of the first night. In the cave where Jiyu rested a small fire was burning. Flickering from intense to slightly flickering. The storm outside was still happening from time to time screams could be heard.

People that didn't find shelter and were not ready to face the dangers this island offered. Many people had probably already lost their lives on the first day. Yet the feeling of fear didn't pass through the body of Jiyu for even a second. While he was roasting the deer he had hunted earlier he heard something deeper in the cave. While the fire was intensely burning a shadow could be seen getting closer. It looked like a massive bear and Jiyu intensely started into the direction of the shadow. A second later while the boy was on full alert and ready to strike any given time. Yet the intimidating bear he was expecting to see was not there.

No in its place small fully white bear turned a corner. Wounded blood flowing over its fur it was clear to any person that it was heavily wounded. Yet when Jiyu looked in its eyes there was not one shred of pity. No instead those eyes were the eyes of someone or something that was determined to live.

Respect was what Jiyu gave the animal. Normally a beast or even human would give up as soon as they reached that condition. Yet before his eyes stood a little bear cub that was determined to succeed and live. A flashback of his past self was seen by Jiyu. It was back when he got into a car accident and people kept on telling him he couldn't do things.

But he was determined to be free to live his life as he liked. To live not depending on those around him or caretakers. In the end, he kind off achieved it. Being bound to a wheelchair yet if he honestly looked back he could say he did everything he could. He pitied the animal before him he knew it by the looks of those wounds.

If he wasn't helped it would die without anything that it could do. Even if the determination in its body was high and his will to survive it was bound to die. But there was one possibility that it would live. Jiyu had to help it.

Would he help or not help was the current predicament he was in. Respect was that what he had for the animal yet he would have to rip some of his clothes to stop the bleeding of the animal. He also had to share his food and get clean water for it. And hoping that it could survive on just that.

He set his gaze to the small animal and he made up his mind. The shirt he was wearing before was taken off and ripped to shreds. He made his way towards the cub and tried to touch it. On instinct, the cub pulled back but when it looked at the person in front of him there was no bad intent. After observing the human that stood in front of him for a while he decided to trust him.

A second later Jiyu put his hand on the back of the cub and checked where the wounds were. He picked a piece of clothing that he had ripped to shreds earlier and bandaged it onto the wound. The cub immediately looked happier from this and felt a little better. The cub wanted to walk yet when it moved Jiyu picked it up and put him on his shoulder. "You can't walk yet," Jiyu said towards the cub who seemed to sort of understand his words since it nodded its little head.

The two sat down and started to eat the deer before their eyes. A little water was left and Jiyu decided to give it to the little animal who was resting on his lap now. The cub looked thankful and for the first time since they met, it seemed comfortable. Laying its head on Jiyu's legs while his eyes closed. Jiyu smiled at the sight and patted the cub also deciding to close his eyes and enter the dark.

It had been a interesting first day and more were to come.
