Hydra

"Well, this isn't what I expected" the boy spoke. Before his eyes stood a monster. A monster that in mythological times of his old world was well known for being killed by the hero Hercules. Before his eyes stood a massive Hydra.

Well known for its regeneration capabilities and how hard it is to kill. Disdain was on its face when it looked at the duo of beast and human. They had interrupted its stay at the lake. This also would explain why Jiyu didn't see any big animals around here. Scared for the monster that was known as almost unkillable in his past life.

The beast wanted to breathe and Jiyu knew what would happen. The breath of the beast before him was toxic. Also, its blood was toxic. Jiyu knew he would have to fight this monster yet how he didn't know. The Hydra was known for its immortality three of its heads would grow back once cut off. Yet its fourth head was immortal.

How could he defeat such a monster? The boy got ready telling the cub on his head to not breath in that purple mist that the Hydra was emanating. Dodging the breaths of the Hydra made Jiyu think. He had to get close the enemy to defeat it.

….

….

In the chair, Gon could be seen laughing. He knew what was down in that lake. Yet he didn't worry about the son of his best friend. Once he decided to walk this path death was something that would be around each corner. Thus he kept watching still having faith that the boy could work his way out of this.

When he looked at his head however a smile blossomed. "Interesting" was all he said. Before he continued watching the scene before him in silence.

….

….

The problem of killing the Hydra didn't rely on the fact that it was so strong. No, it was hard because it would regenerate once cut off. He had to take of 4 heads in one strike. That was truly hard. But a little sound was heard above his head where the cub laid.

A sound of something forming. Slight cold also touched Jiyu's face. Before the cold turned into water that slowly flowed over his face. The boy smiled while he picked up the cub. Looking at it while he spoke, "do that again." And then Jiyu saw something that made this battle so much easier.

Ice was forming once the cub opened his mouth. "Well, this wasn't that surprising since you are white." Jiyu joked towards the cub while he asked "are you some sort of ice bear." The cub looked proud to be recognized and its little head shook excited yes. The plan had changed and Jiyu calmly observed the monster that stood before him. After a while, he saw a little opening when the Hydra was recharching its breath.

Jiyu moved with the cub who had been given instructions. With abnormal speed Jiyu stroke a sideways slash towards the first head. As soon as the head was no longer there it was frozen by the cub. The Hydra was unable to regain its first head.

The same sight continued and slowly the Hydra was killed. Heavy breathing could be seen from the duo. The cub who had tried its best to freeze everything. And Jiyu who was on full alert and had to strike with all his might to kill the monster.

With a frowning expression, Jiyu looked towards the ground. The cub that was now sleeping on his head didn't shake in fear when the Hydra appeared. Yet when the trembling happened and the monster beneath him moved it shook. The thing that was down there was truly scary.

Something way above a simple Hydra. Excitement is what Jiyu felt he wanted to know what was down there. Yet he knew that was not a good idea. Without the cub today the fight would have proven to be much more difficult. Jiyu decided it was time to go back to rest. But not before taking some of the poisonous blood from the Hydra.

You never know when it could prove useful. The cub had drunk and there was still enough food for it at the cave. Jiyu decided to not eat tonight so that he didn't have to hunt any longer. Returning to the cave to rest. Still, screams were heard all over the island. But the boy didn't mind any longer and dwelled into a deep sleep.

That which was beneath him didn't worry him any longer. The cub eating the meat while he watched Jiyu sleep. When it was done eating it crawled into Jiyu's arms and also closed its eyes. Both were peacefully sleeping.

The day had ended and sleep was needed.
