First phase end

The cave that was previously dark was slowly illuminated by the sunlight. The duo of human and beast slowly opened their eyes. Stretching at the same exact time. If one saw this sight they may think that this duo was together for a long time.

Yet the truth was that the duo was only together for the past days. A new day was what greeted the duo's eyes. The last day and Jiyu was thinking if the predator beneath this island would make an appearance or not. Yet the last day was peaceful. It passed with ease Jiyu just hunted some small animals and got the cub to the most optimal state he could. When the sun set a voice was heard all over the island, "those that survived come to the edge of the forest."

After walking for a while Jiyu saw a massive yacht that he assumed would take them to the second stage. When he boarded the ship he looked back at the island that he stayed at. A complicated look was on his face. He had trouble killing a Hydra and the cub he had with him didn't back down from it. Yet when the predator beneath the island moved its whole body shook of fear. Jiyu started to realize that this world had many forces that could kill him. He was happy before with what he achieved yet now he started to crave for more power.

It was time for the ship to leave but the cub refused to leave. Previously when Jiyu was planning on boarding the yacht he had put down the cub while he himself entered the ship. But right now when Jiyu looked towards where he placed the cub it stayed there. Still trying to enter the ship yet it couldn't. With a sigh, Jiyu went down towards it. Kneeling down before the little bear. "What is it that you want," Jiyu asked the little cub. Who stared towards Jiyu with determination while a little sound was heard. "You want to come with me don't you?" He asked the cub.

And as soon as he spoke those words the cub started to nod yes at an insane speed. Jiyu never planned on finding a beast companion for his journey. And he definitely didn't think he would find one when he was dropped on this island. Yet when he looked at the cub he smiled. Maybe it was because of its determination that he liked it and enjoyed being around it. So without hesitation his arms wrapped around the little cub's body. And put him on his head while he walked back to board the ship. Just when he boarded the ship a worker came up to him. "Who is that animal" is what he asked.

Jiyu just smiled while he told him it was his beast partner. Before the man could say more a voice was heard. "It is fine let them on" when Jiyu turned his head he saw his uncle Gon walking over. With a nervous voice, the worker spoke: "yes chairmaster." With a smile on his, face Gon told Jiyu he did well. Before vanishing from his previous position. 'He is strong' is all that Jiyu could think. He wasn't even able to detect his uncle moving. Jiyu heard a voice once more, "all go rest in 12 hours the next test will start."

So Jiyu made his way towards a room where he laid down on the bed. It felt great the feeling of a real bed instead of the hard cold stone. His first test was done but he started to realize the previous pride he had. Was stupid that predator beneath the island could kill him. And just now he started to realize the arrogance he had.

Without himself noticing his pride and arrogance slowly faded a little bit. Closing his eyes and drifting off into a deep sleep once more. The cub on his chest also rested.

The first phase had ended. The previous participant's number was 500. Yet the cruel island took the lives of 450 participants. 90% had died a number that was insane. Just why did the exam use such cruel methods?

What could be so scary in the dark continent that this had to be done?
