Change through experience

Sunlight illuminated the cave and hit the duo of beast and human. Slowly at the same time, they lazily opened their eyes. Jiyu would be lying if he said that he had a good night sleep. He was worried about the little guy on his lap and the weather wasn't too good either.

Yet he was rested and from the looks of it so was the bear cub on his lap. It seemed more energetic and happy. Its eyes twinkled when it saw Jiyu waking up and it climbed it's way up till he was on Jiyu's face and started to lick it. 'Is this guy a bear or a cat' thought Jiyu annoyed or at least he pretended to be annoyed.

But the smile on his face spoke volumes. He was glad he had saved the bear cub. When Jiyu looked outside the cave his eyes were greeted with a beautiful blue sky. Knowing that the climate could change at any given time. He decided it was now the best time to hunt for some food.

The cub had to have nutrition to recover and get back into a fit shape. For the next two days, Jiyu's goal was to get the cub to optimal health and then leave. The first day was an easy walk in the park but would the second day turn out the same? Jiyu left with the cub on his head on his way to get some fresh water.

While passing through the forest the island started to shake. Slowly cracks appeared from the depths of the earth. And moving could be felt. Fear was in almost all of the participants while Jiyu kept assessing the current situation. The cub on his head told him that was beneath him was something scary.

Jiyu had seen the earlier determination and the no fear look in the cub's eyes. Yet what was down there scared him so much that he was lightly shaking. As soon as the cracks appeared they also went away.

Confusion was all that Jiyu felt he knew that some sort of predator laid in the dark depths of the earth. He knew that this would instill fear in those on the island. 'Smart to use this' Jiyu thought. It was after all a smart move of the Chairmaster to see if those on the island would cower in front of the unknown.

But Jiyu also knew that the predator beneath him tried to scare them. A prey that was in fear of you would be easier to kill. Jiyu thought a bit more before putting all this behind him while he kept moving forward. He would just deal with the predator if it really did show up.

After running with the hair passing through his hair and various animal sounds he had arrived. Before him laid a crystal clear lake if one looked down into the water they could see the ground. The most beautiful water laid before his eyes yet he couldn't enjoy it.

He had to help the cub on his head and get some water. He couldn't lose the cub out of his sight for even one second. Jiyu grabbed a bottle from the little bag he brought with him and was filling it with water. After he did that he immediately gave the water to the cub on his head.

As soon as the water touched the little cub's tongue its eyes lighted up. It was as if it had regained a little of his life. Jiyu smiled while he patted its head feeling happy that he decided to save it. While the peaceful sight was happening someone was watching from a screen. Gon sat there in his chair peacefully watching everything play out.

Satisfied with what he was seeing. Jiyu was someone with compassion something he liked to see. He himself knew that he had changed. Before he went into the dark continent he was a happy kid that just went with the flow. To be honest he himself saw himself as dumb and naive at that time. Many dangerous situations had presented himself before the dark continent. But what changed him was that trip there.

He saw many things and was no longer the innocent boy that he once was. He knew it himself back when he fought Pitou some of his innocence was lost. He had lost himself in the dark after however, he changed back thanks to Alluka and Killua. Slowly he had been pulled out from the dark.

Yet he knew that he had changed he wasn't like his father carefree. No after what he saw in the dark continent he was forced to mature. To a point that he even offered up his freedom and became the chairmaster of the Hunter Association.

He enjoyed seeing the youth called Jiyu because there was some resemblance. Like him, the youth also desired for adventures.

With a smile, Gon continued to watch how the water before Jiyu suddenly trembled.
