1 Chapter one: Moonlight shines

"You don't want to live in a society like this, yet you don't want to do anything about it!" Elijah yelled at Lars. "Well if we try to do anything about this we will be killed. We are the only ones besides the city runners who know of the city's secrets." Lars responded. "Guys calm down." I interrupted. I'm Markus a 13 year old boy who lives in a domed city. "It's not like there's an apocalypse out there." Cate said. She was Elijah's sister. "They do have cameras in case anyone escapes. So maybe at night we can sneak into the camera room and see what's out there." I said. "But they kill people who break the rules." Lars said. "It's still worth a shot." Elijah said.

The fake moonlight from the top of the dome was shining down. Everyone was asleep except us. "I'm scared." I said. "It'll be fine." Cate said. "Alright if it means freedom let's do this." I said. We successfully made it out of Elijah's house (we were sleeping over) and his parents never heard. "The street cleaners are out." Lars whispered. "Oh no if they see us they'll turn us in." Elijah whispered. Cate said something quietly under her breath. I didn't hear. We made it to the camera room with no one noticing.
