49 I'm sorry

The king's chamber was abruptly interrupted by a knock, and Queen Lyn anxiously stood at the door with her handmaidens by her side. Jetaime had been eagerly anticipating this night, and he looked stunning in his royal robe. Adjusting his garment, he gazed at himself in the mirror before commanding his guard to open the door.

Jetaime stood with his hands clasped behind his back as Lyn entered, attempting to remain composed. Moesha had clung to her hands tightly but had to release them - to say she was irate would be putting it mildly.

She once believed she cared for the king a little because he had been kind to her. However, her feelings had taken a complete U-turn. The other maids waited outside the king's chamber until the chief guard dismissed them.

Now, Lyn was alone with the king and she wished it was over. Jetaime removed his mask and ran his hand through his hair before turning to look at his queen. The red gown was meant to irritate him, but it turned out to be his idea. He wanted to see her in it, so he secretly placed it in her closet.

"It looks much better on her than I had imagined," Jetaime thought, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. Lyn refused to look at him, which made him feel like something was missing. It was the golden hairpin. Even though he had fixed it, it wasn't the best time to give it to her.

Jetaime's silence made Lyn uneasy as she stood in the center of the room, feeling fragile and exposed. She wanted to move her body as she had been in the same position for a while.

King Jetaime walked closer to her, closing the gap between them, but Lyn still wouldn't look at him. He lifted her gown, knowing she had a hidden dagger on her thighs. "What are you doing?" Lyn asked nervously as she stepped back from him.

Jetaime successfully pulls out the dagger and places it in her hand, "You hate me then use the dagger on me, this might be your only chance, so go on, don't miss," Jetaime replied sinking into the seat. Lyn looks at him and looks at the dagger in her hands.

"Do it,"

"I will love to but that will be too easy, there is no fun in that," Lyn mumbled throwing the dagger on the table. She won't for a second deny that she almost use the dagger on the king, in fact she did, a million times in her head. That piqued Jetaime's interest. He scooted closer, hoping for her to continue.

Lyn's lips tugged into a soft smile and with a distant look, she proceeded to stare at the king's mask on a far-end table. Jetaime wishes he could know what she was thinking about. Lyn was not the type that talks about her plans she acts on them so he will have to wait for them.

"Tell me what will be fun," Jetaime smiles. "You will soon find out when the time is right," Lyn said going to sit on the bed. A chill from the past resurfaced, and memories of her childhood flashed in front of her eyes. Not that they really mattered to her but the palace was starting to feel less like home. The home she had imagined and always dreamed of.

"I'm sorry I got mad at you, you need to forgive me," Jetaime whispered walking close to Lyn. "Can we sleep now," Lyn said ready to get under the sheet. At least she could endure the torture of having to sleep next to the king for the night. "I'm apologizing for my behavior Oaklyn," The king went out of his way to say sorry to the queen but it wasn't a big deal.

"You are the king, you do what you like and it becomes law, can I sleep now?" Lyn mumbled covering herself with the blanket.

"Is that all you have to say?" Jetaime apologized to her but she didn't care or it didn't make any difference to her.

"Okay, you are sorry what is that going to do? Will it change what had happened or how bad I felt? No right? So let it be," Lyn said rendering King Jetaime speechless.

"Are you sleeping in your gown?" Jetaime finally asked when he realized Lyn was actually sleeping in her ball gown. "yes," she replied sharply going back to sleep.

"You can't sleep in that, your dress alone has occupied half of the bed already," Jetaime complains. "why not? You have no idea how long it took them to put this on me," Lyn hissed.

"Come here, I can assist you in removing the dress," King Jetaime kindly offered.
