61 Chapter 60 - Status of the War

The meeting went on for an hour, where the UGP representatives shared the status of the monster invasion in their respective territories.

Admiral Radford reported that the major cities on the US East Coast and West Coast that were struck by the pink pillars were utterly at the mercy of the Icebugs. Following the destruction of the Icebug Queen and her hive in Dallas, there was a mass retreat by the other colonies that were trying to establish themselves in new regions. The monsters seemed to understand how vulnerable they were if they swarmed on the surface, so they kept their activities deep underground and only sent a few scouts to forage for food and material. Earth-based Tamers monitored the bug movements and reported to the intelligence wing whenever a Queen tried to establish a new colony. If new hives were discovered, a rod would be dropped from orbit and lay waste to whatever was built there as long as no human presence existed in the area.

The Anti-Toxin medical supplies created by the Scientific Research and Development Wing of the Tamer Battalion had turned the tide in the war in Europe. Their soldiers were now able to combat the monsters without fear of being killed by the toxic gas spewed into the air making the environment inhospitable for the Europeans. Though these drugs didn't give the users immunity, they lifted the overwhelming mental block that prevented the soldiers from attempting a counterattack instead of giving up cities.

The Indians had been able to contain the Beast Men to the North and East of India by scorching the Earth in the country's center until it was glassed. This was done when they discovered that the Beastmen seemed to weaken in areas with no vegetation or water. Though it was a drastic measure that destroyed the landscape, it prevented the Beastmen from expanding towards the southern half of the subcontinent. However, the aquatic beastmen could still attack the cities on the coast.

The Russians got inspired by the five-day battle between Aaron and the Metal Bird Monsters in Saint Petersburg. So they started employing a machine that created a massive Electric field around a specific area that electrocuted all the Metal Bird Monsters that dared to break through it to harm the soldiers inside. This allowed the Russian Ground forces to retake large territories and drove the Monsters back towards the cities struck by the Pink Pillars.

On the other hand, China had suffered the worst casualties among the UGP as the lightning attuned Dino and Reptile Race rampaged across the heartlands of China. Other than large Lightning rod towers and portable versions, the Chinese have failed to find an effective counter. A tamer who could create Golems out of Earth-like Rebecca had appeared, and she was the only one capable of defending the last safe havens in China from the Monsters. It didn't help that Zao was hell-bent on leading a rescue expedition consisting of his loyal followers into Beijing, which was declared a dead zone. The Military could not stop him as he was determined to find out if his Father, Uncle, and Grandfather were indeed dead.

After the reports were shared, Admiral Radford brought up a new topic. He shared the designs of all the armaments designed by Selvaria with the representatives.

Admiral Radford. "Are you all impressed by the tech Admiral Selvaria provided us?"

They all nodded in unison.

Admiral Radford. "This tech will give us a new advantage in the war, but why settle for this when we have an option to bring in a Vector Space Fleet."

There is an awkward silence in the room. The representative was caught off guard by the proposal.

Russian Representative. "Our intelligence officers reported that Vector has already begun the colonization of Mars. So why would they care what happens to Earth?"

EUF Representative. "First of all, communication systems are down, so we cannot contact them even if we want to get them to join us."

Chinese Representative. "Have you all forgotten how much they hate our guts? If we are not careful, they could wipe us out with their space fleets."

Admiral Radford. "I am not saying we need to bring in the Government of Vector. I am saying we get the attention of Admiral Selvaria's Fleet."

Indian Representative. "You believe a Vector fleet will come to Earth for her?"

Admiral Radford. "Last night, after dealing with the Spy, she told me the one who is temporarily in command of the fleet is her brother. Though he is adopted, she assured me that If we inform him about her location, he will come with her flagship and possibly her fleet."

Everyone paused to process this information.

Russian Representative. "Will he be willing to enter Earth's atmosphere? We all forbade Vector from crossing that line to avoid war."

Admiral Radford. "That was before the monster invasion. So if we give him permission to come to Seward, there shouldn't be an issue unless Vector stops him."

Indian Representative. "All you need is a way to get in touch with him?"

Admiral Radford. "Do you have a secret satellite capable of communicating with Vector?"

A smile appeared on the representative's face.

Indian Representative. "No, but we have a way of directly delivering a message."

Chinese Representative. "Are you planning to launch a spaceship? Vector would shoot it before they get anywhere near the moon."

Indian Representative. "Relax, ISRO can launch a small automated rocket that will carry a letter and a few phones with unbound monster apps. They will float towards her fleet with an SOS signal who should encourage them to investigate instead of blowing it up."

EUF representatives. "Alright, let's say that this all works. What do you have to offer in return for their assistance?"

Admiral Radford. "According to Admiral Selvaria, if we all officially give her enough land to let Vector live on Earth again, that would be enough. Anyways, nothing stops them from forcing their way in and establishing it once they know what has happened to our armies."

Chinese Representative. "Will they not try to overthrow us and place themselves in charge? As you said, they have the tech and power to do so."

Admiral Radford. "I believe they crave our acknowledgment as an equal more than the desire to be the overlord of Earth. If we include Vector into the UGP, we will gain an ally to deter the new military alliances from attacking us while rebuilding our forces and societies."

Russian Representative. "Speaking of those scoundrels, we received reports of the Middle Eastern forces grabbing chunks of our central Asian territory. Have you all faced similar issues?"

Admiral Radford. "Other than the Canadian extremists, Benjamin reported that he saw an entire Mexican Battalion in the Dallas hive being fed to the Queen. I believe they must have sent an expeditionary force and met their unfortunate ends during their probe."

Indian Representative. "Pakistan and Afghanistan have grabbed Kashmir, but they regret that decision because the Beast hordes are slaughtering their armies."

Chinese Representative. "Japan, Korea, Australia, and the ASEAN nations have launched attacks on our navies and captured our islands in the South China Sea. We had to pull back all our forces to the mainland because of that."

EUF Representative. "The North African and Middle East nations have attacked our forces in Turkey and Greece. As a result, our forces are split between fighting the amphibians and keeping these countries at bay."

Russian Representative. "Then it is best to approve Admiral Radford's proposal to contact Selvaria's fleet and let them join us."

Everyone agreed.

Suddenly the doors to the meeting hall opened, and several Tamers in monster form barged in. A Longhorn American Bison Minotaur is dragging three bruised people whose hands are tied to a rope.

Bison. "Sorry for interrupting your meeting, but I heard Benjamin was here. I need him to use his mind-reading ability on these spies since roughing them up doesn't seem to loosen their tongue."

Admiral Radford. "It's fine. There was nothing left to discuss. Are you sure that these three were all the Spies in Seward?"

Bison brought the Spies towards Ben, whose Dumbo Octopus eyes studied the prisoners with excitement in its eyes.

Benjamin. "How did you capture them?"

Bison. "They tried to recruit my undercover Tamers to join the extremists. They even bragged about recruiting thirty of our tamers yesterday by offering a chance to survive the attack that was coming to Seward. My people activated their combat styles and then fought them until they were knocked out. We confiscated their phones and brought them to see the body of the Spy who Selvaria killed. I told them they would like that guy if we handed them over to Selvaria, but they wouldn't talk. I went a bit physical on them, but that didn't work either."

Benjamin. "I see… let me have a crack at them with some Eldritch Horrors."
