1 Prologue

White. Snow white, everywhere. The snow covered the entire mountain, becoming a sky-scraping piece in a board.

Black. Dark sky, dark tall trees, people covered in dark clothing who wanted to kill. Kill. Kill.

Red. Cold blood. Someone's blood painted in her hands, it felt like burning in winter. Red frostnip fingers and it would have been mistaken that she had cut herself.

The silver ring still remained on her finger, the one that remained a symbol of her connection to him. That she would never be free.

She let out a shaky breath that she could see in the cold. The stained tears on her cheeks began shifting to frost. Her legs numb from running, felt heavier with the head that rested on her lap. Her back rested on the pine tree's bark, despite the stinging pain caused by those honed claws. The cloth on her back had been torn, her skin exposed to the freezing breeze. Their only source of warmth is her red velvet dress.

A trail of blood led to them. They only had a few minutes left until they're found and finished. She calculated everything in her head, they could still escape if they move now, they might have the chance to leave this haunted peak. They would be able to see the sunrise once more.

But she can't. She can't leave him. No, she will never. It would shatter her entire living. She would be a walking corpse without a soul if she leaves him once again.

She wanted to speak but words won't form in her mouth. It's like she lost her voicebox the moment she realized she might lose him.

"Run," he whispered. His voice rough and brittle. He raised one of his bloody hands from his injury and caressed her frozen cheek. He stared at her with loving eyes, his eyes that conveyed all the emotions in him.

She violently shook her head, trembled as she spoke. "I'm tired of running." She uttered and pressed her hand on his stomach. Staring into his charcoal dark eyes that are now wet with tears. His eyes that she adored so much, fighting to stay open. He's bleeding a lot, this would definitely leave a scar. She's seen all his scars before but he survived all of them.

"Please...Run. Be free...You're free now...Run before he finds you." He uttered, his body becoming colder like the snow every second. "Shh, save your energy. I don't care about my freedom anymore. I only wish to be with you."

"Forgive me, I failed you. I can't...protect you when I'm weak." He cried, the pain in his body not bothering him any longer. What hurts his heart is seeing her overwhelmed when he's giving up. "You have to be strong. It's a command, you- you will live long and protect me for your entire life." The lady stated. A small hope in her heart that they won't find them. The fellow being critically aware of her negative attributes.

Looking back at the memories, it's been him who kept her caged. His wish is for her freedom to be fulfilled, it's what would make her smile. Even if it meant not seeing her smile ever again.

"You're so stubborn as always," he managed to let out a painful chuckle. A blend of induced-sensations tightened around her heart, almost as if it's near to exploding inside her own ribcage. Fear traveled into every corner of her body. She feared dying before, dying without finding a meaning of her life, without ever finding love. Now she fears of never meeting him again.

Because if there is a heaven, he would be locked out of those gates. He already showed her heaven, their love changed them both. Everyone thinks that she was once an innocent girl who isn't worthy of being punished. His immoral acts were on his shoulders but she'd be glad to lift some of the weight off.

A loud thunder woke the earth. The lofty snow mountain shook as lighting bolts began to appear in the sky covered by cumulonimbus clouds. The shining stars faded from the view, it was too dark. A perfect darkness for the arrival of death.

He knew the storm was coming. Not by the heavens. She was the storm

And when the storm passed, their story would be written in stone.
