The Armory

"Is this the legendary weapon? It looks normal, to be honest," Franzen picked up the strange-looking black crossbow that had a similarity to a crossbow. He aimed the strange-looking crossbow at the wall and aimed it straight at the empty wall. He then pulled the trigger.

BANG!

A slide opened on the side of the crossbow, letting out a metallic tube outside. The metallic tube hit the floor with a loud clang. Franzen stood in awe as the crossbow let out a small amount of smoke at the end of it. It was not magic, he couldn't sense it.

"Holy almighty!" Franzen looked at the small deep hole in the wall of the armory. It was quite deep, heck he put his finger on the concrete, only to find the bullet once half of his finger through the reinforced concrete wall. "Are we messing with the power of the heavenly skies again?" He noticed how powerful the crossbow was, in fact, the recoil from the strange crossbow was rather odd.

On the left side of the strange-looking crossbow, another written inscription, "FN HERSTAL BELGIUM. SCAR-H CAL 7.62x51." Franzen never heard of FN Herstal, much less Belgium, but what was the name of the gun? SCAR-H, perhaps? However, whoever used this must be a very powerful nation.

Suddenly, Arkarr approached Franzen with an even bigger crossbow, this time, it had this strange-looking tube on top of the crossbow. The crossbow was gray, and it was as long as half of Franzen's height. If SCAR-H was strong, Franzen was terrified at the power of the bigger crossbow. "Arkarr, careful, let's not be hasty, that crossbow might be able to destroy this room."

"Yeah, I think so, I found this bigger gun back there, what do you think, my lord?" Arkarr asked.

Reading it, on the side, another inscription. "BARRETT M107 CAL 12.7x99." Whatever that thing was, 12.7 was higher than 7.62 and thus, that crossbow must have been significantly stronger. Still, even the SCAR-H would be enough to bring this war to a turn.

"My lord, Arkarr, come over here," Lyka shouted from the other end of the room.

Both Arkarr and Franzen rushed to Lyka. Lyka has opened a crate with her own bare hands. Inside of it were four similarly looking crossbows, but different from those that Franzen held in his hands. The only description on the crate was "M4 CARBINE. PROPERTY OF U.S MILITARY."

"How powerful this U.S is? They must have been ancient civilization to be this strong, I have no doubt," Franzen said.

"Can I take one of them, My Lord?" Lyka asked.

"But first, let's explore this whole bunker before taking anything," Franzen said.

"Bunker, what's that my lord?" Lyka didn't have any idea about it.

Surprisingly speaking, Arkarr was the one that explained it, "Bunker is the place where the U.S military personnel took shelter during emergency situations such as Defcon, nuclear launches, or biological attacks from its adversaries."

Lyka scratched her head, not because of the explanation, but because it was the ogre out of all people that explained it to her. If it was Franzen, her own demonic lord, it would not come out as a surprise, but from an ogre, it was not expected.

"Exactly, good work, Corporal," Franzen replied with a term that Lyka never heard. Corporal? Was that another nickname for an ogre? Lyka didn't know yet that the curse of the legendary weapons started to sip into their brains.

"Thanks, Sergeant," Arkarr replied.

Lyka scratched her head, even more, when Arkarr called Franzen with 'Sergeant' instead of 'My Lord' like the usual calling. Lyka tried rubbing it off her mind, as she didn't detect any magic coming out of those strange weapons. However, he followed his lord's command not to take one yet.

Franzen walked with his SCAR-H in his hands while Arkarr followed him from behind while Lyka observed the whole room. A bunch of small crates and large crates were scattered inside the room, with one or two strange-looking crossbows scattered on the floor. It reminded her of the kingdom's armory with swords instead of crossbows.

"Corporal, take me to the 25th floor, we need to check the command center for survivors," Franzen said as they entered the elevator and the door closed.

Lyka started feeling uncomfortable, especially with how his lord suddenly became very familiar with the strange-looking crossbow that he held, and Arkarr suddenly became as smart as Franzen for some unknown reasons. 'What's going on?' Lyka thought as the elevator took them to the upper floor.

The elevator door opened, revealing a room with a bunch of glasses framed into some sort of metallic frame. Arkarr walked to one of the desks, and somehow, the glass started showing a bunch of images that Lyka never thought to be portable. Suddenly, the biggest glasses in the middle of the room emitted light.

This got too creepy for Lyka, all of a sudden, his former lord turned too familiar with this place, Arkarr included. Franzen himself was sitting down in front of one of those glasses screens and looked at it while hitting his hand on a panel with clicky noise.

"My– Sergeant, what are you doing?" Lyka asked Franzen.

"Checking power supplies, life support system, etc," Franzen answered.

"Power supplies? Like, this bunker is alive?" Lyka asked.

"Well, for the light to be turned on, the reactor must be still on, right?" Franzen said.

"Reactor?"

"Yeah, the one on the basement floor, the nuclear fusion reactor," Franzen said.

"The what?" Lyka became even more confused. He never heard of the term nuclear, much fusion. In her opinion, something has poisoned Franzen's mind, however, without him, she wouldn't be able to return home safely since she didn't know a thing about this bunker.

"Sir, power generation looks stable, but our drone is offline. Water purification for drinking is also broken, so we might need more personnel to fix it," Arkarr said.

"We can think about that later, first of all, we need to report back to our outpost, do you all agree?" Franzen asked.

"Yeah, sure, sergeant, let's go," Arkarr said as they headed for the elevator.

However, before entering the elevator, Lyka noticed a crossbow in the middle of a table. It was smaller than both Franzen's and Arkarr's crossbows, but for a woman like her, it was much better. She picked the crossbow from the table and held it with both of her hands.

The elevator took them downstairs, towards the armory. Lyka looked at the weapon that she held. "H&K MP5 CAL. 9x19" was written on the side of it. What a strange crossbow, to even have something written with such fine print on top of it. Little did she know, the curse had started working on her brain.
