3 Status Open!

I woke up shortly after the sunlight passed through the window. It was somewhat annoying as the sun shine right in my face. There were no curtains on any windows in the inn.

Apparently, window curtains were only used by the rich merchants and nobles. I know it wasn't hard to make them, so when I asked for the reason I learned it was for practical reasons. Those on top had people who worked for them, so they could sleep in a bit. Everyone else had to wake up and work to keep living.

I dragged myself off the bed and into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth as best I could with the brush given by the inn and splashed some water on my face. Feeling a bit more awake I took out the enhanced bag and pulled out the other set of clothes with a thought. I noticed that they were of better quality than I was expecting as there was no itching or uncomfortableness.

Satisfied with how they looked, I grabbed the bag and the room key as I headed down to the kitchen. I ordered the standard breakfast which consisted of a two egg omelette, toast, fresh orange juice, and some meat strips. I'm positive the meat wasn't bacon, but it sure tasted the same. Maybe it was this worlds equivalent of bacon.

After thanking the chef and paying, I asked the innkeeper, Marielle, for directions to the Adventurers Guild. Apparently it was quite simple to find as it was the largest building on the main street. I left the key to my room with Marielle and headed straight for the guild.

I arrived just in time to see the morning rush for quests and jobs. I must say, it was quite a sight. Everyone was pushing and shoving each other trying to snag a slip from the boards covering the wall to the left side of the entrance. People of all sizes and builds struggled to grab quest slips, but no one was rude enough to snag one that had already entered someone's hand. I hoped it wasn't like that every morning, but my hopes weren't very high.

After staring a bit, I looked around the rest of the guild space. to the right there was a large bar with many tables. That was probably very popular during the evenings. Directly across from the doorway were four counters lined up. Each one had a sign hanging down so you knew what they were for.

Starting from the far left was the Quest Counter, Rewards Counter, Help Counter, and Other Counter. I walked over to the one labeled Other Counter and greeted the guild worker working there.

"I'd like to register as an adventurer." I said, trying to sound more confident than nervous.

The guild worker smiled at me and asked me for my ID card beforehand. Apparently ID cards also monitor their owner, so if the person the ID card belongs to does anything criminal they can check. After I passed the criminal activity inspection, she pulled out some files from under the counter. after leafing through them for a moment she pulled out one page of parchment that had multiple fields to fill out and handed it to me, along with a pen.

"Please fill this out with the most accurate information you can give. once you are done, come back here and we can finish the process." [Guild Worker]

I sat down at one of the tables by the bar and started filling out the form. Name, age, level, reason for wanting to be an adventurer... I filled it all in and finally got to the bottom of the form. I brought it back to the receptionist for her took look over. After a quick check, she took out a small knife and a smooth card that looked like it was made from steel, before handing it to me.

"Just slice your fingertip enough for a drop of blood to fall on the card. Once you do that, it'll absorb the blood and the card will hold all the info that relates to your abilities!" [Guild Worker]

I pricked the tip of my finger and let the blood drip onto the card. The card shined brighter for a moment and my blood disappeared into the card. After a moment of waiting I started thinking I had somehow messed up since the card didn't change at all. I looked up at the receptionist and she let out a small chuckle.

"That's it! you are now officially a G rank adventurer. To raise your rank from G to F, you must do 15 G rank quests. From that point on, it's based on your level, so you can figure that out later. Anyway, you should check your status now. The card is working, you don't need to worry." [Guild Worker]

I just stared at the card a little longer before finally voicing the question I needed to ask. "How do I check my status?" [Lucifer]

"Just hold the card and say, 'Status open.' It'll appear in your mind so no one else can see without a guild Status Card Machine." [Guild Worker]

Well, that's pretty straightforward... and kinda cool. It would show up in my mind so no one else could sneak a peek. Anyway, let's get to it!

"Status open!" [Lucifer]

I was kind of excited. What would the unique skill I got from God be? Suddenly, all of my stats and skills started showing up in my mind. It was like an overlay between what my eyes were seeing and me. It was really cool. I had heard about something like this from friends who played VR games, but I'd never seen it before. Now I kind of regret not having played video games before.

Anyway, my stats were shown as such.

Video Games would have definitely helped here. I had no idea what all the numbers and words meant. I asked about it and the guild worker explained what each of the stats meant. Once I understood that, she explained how I was required to put my card through the machine so I would be recorded in their database.

I assumed it would be fine, so I handed the card to her and she immediately scanned it. It was a simple tool that looked like a mini printer. she put the card on top, and after a moment a glass panel came out from the bottom with my status info on it.

Everything was fine until she got to the skills. She suddenly let out a high pitched shriek that caused me to jump and silence all the adventurers in the room. The silence was stifling. Everyone was looking at us, wondering what she was freaking out about. To be honest, I was wondering too. Were my skills that weird?

As I was about to ask, a door behind her opened and a man who was easily over two meters tall walked out. He looked down at me for a moment, then the glass panel that was sitting on the Status Card Machine.

He must have understood what caused the guild worker to freak out like that as he turned to the adventurers who were staring in this direction and said, "Everything is fine. You all can continue with your business." He then turned to me and said, "Can I ask that you come with me? I'm the Guild Master here in Desil. The name is Derek 'Steelbody' Goram. I need to talk with you about your skills."
