5 Rank F... Achieved!

I woke up from a deep sleep. I was sore all over. Some bruises were visible too, but they weren't too bad. Adventurer training was rough. Every evening, I would get back to the inn with just enough energy to reach my bed. I'd sleep like a log, and when I woke up, start my training all over.

After I had appraised my skills on my own, I had gone back to the guild and inquired at the Help Counter about any form of training for new adventurers. In summary, there was a training course that started on Monday of every week, as this town got lots of new adventurers daily.

I decided to join the course and had to pay one silver for it. It was pretty cheap all things considered. The next morning I went to the guild and took a G rank jobs off the board, since the training course was scheduled in the afternoon every day until Friday, which was when the course ended.

Since I needed to make some money to pay for another week at the inn, I took jobs that could earn me extra money besides the reward on the jobs slip. I mostly waitered for the breakfast and lunch crowds at a few different bars or restaurants that needed the extra help during those hours. G rank jobs were basically simple jobs around the town, but it wasn't so bad, as I could make connections I might need later down the line.

Anyway, today was finally Friday. The end of the training was quickly approaching. I headed to the adventurers guild and instead of going to the board as usual, I went down a hallway to the left of the counters and out to the training grounds in the back. Today was just a congratulatory speech from the trainer, and then we would each get a slip excusing us from five of the fifteen quests all G ranked adventurers were required to do.

Two hours later, we had all been given the slips and I headed straight to the Rewards Counter and handed the slip to the guild worker. Her name was Bailey, and she was pretty popular with the adventurers here. Anyway, she registered the five free quests and informed me that I had only two more to go before I reached Rank F. I thanked her and immediately headed to the board to snag two G Rank jobs I had my eyes on since the day before yesterday.

One was a job from a blacksmith to deliver some tools he had repaired to a carpenter on the other side of town, and the other was a waitering job at a cafe across the street from the carpenter. As I hoped, they were both still there. I pulled them off the board and together with some of the other Rank G adventurers that had finished the training with me, got in line to register the quests.

Around four in the afternoon, I got back to the guild and went to the reward counter to collect my rewards from the final to jobs. I was very excited to finally be advancing a rank. Rank F was when you were allowed to go out and fight monsters. Sure they were just things like slimes, goblins, and fanged rabbits, but they were monsters nonetheless.

I handed my card over to Bailey at the Rewards Counter, and she added the final count to my quests completed. She put my card through the Status Card Machine and upgraded my rank.

"Congratulations, Lucifer! You are officially an F ranked adventurer. With that, you can now take on F ranked quests by yourself, and E ranked quests as a party of three. Good luck, and may you stay safe!"

I thanked Bailey and headed back to the inn. I needed to pay for another week if I wanted to have a room. I now had 36 silver coins and 50 copper coins in my bag.

I turned onto the street where the inn was located and heard someone shout up ahead. Looking up, I saw the innkeeper, Marielle, talking to a young man, probably around my age. He was clearly excited, and Marielle seemed to be trying to calm him down, since he was making a ruckus.

After a moment, she gave up and grabbing the young man's arm, dragged him into the inn. Soon after they entered, I opened the door to the inn and saw Marielle waiting behind the counter as usual. The young man was also there, though he was much calmer than he was moments ago.

"I need to extend my stay another week for now, if that's possible." I said as I took out my coin pouch from the bag.

"Of course! That'll cost you fourteen silver, same as before." she said with a smile.

I was somewhat surprised that she would let me stay with the discount again, but when I tried to pay the full amount she refused to take the extra seven silver. She insisted that since Fendal recommended me, I would always have the discount. I gave up quickly and took back the seven silver before heading back to my room.

I unlocked the door, plopped myself on the bed, and took out my Status Card. with a thought, my status appeared before me. I had found out that I could open it with a thought through appraisal, along with the fact that others could see my status if I held the card while they were touching it. If someone tried to look without me there, it would shock them and I would hear a sound in my head.

Anyway, now that the training was over, I wanted to see how much my stats had risen.

I see my hard work really paid off. It felt very rewarding to see proof of my hard work. I had been using the shortsword as my weapon during combat training, and tried to activate Eyes of the Future as much as possible. As such, I had raised the mastery of both skills, along with Appraisal.

I have decided. Tomorrow, I'm going after some goblins. It was time to gain some real combat experience.
