38 Finding A Teacher

I woke up with a slight headache. It seems I drank too much alcohol while partying last night. I looked to my side and found Bella still fast asleep. I gently stroked her hair for a bit before slowly getting off the bed.

Almost half an hour later, I left the bathroom feeling refreshed. A nice hot bath clearly worked wonders. After getting dressed, I sat back down on the bed and started feeding MP to Velli, who had been resting on a small nest made from cloth in the corner of the room.

Velli was already twice the size he was when I first found him, and no longer fit in the pouch. While I was absentmindedly feeding Velli, Bella suddenly spoke up. "He got quite big, didn't he?"

"Well, he is a dragon. There'll probably be lots more growth in the near future." I said. "The problem is, where will I keep him if he keeps growing? Staying in a town or city will be quite a problem."

Bella sat up in the bed, holding the blanket over her chest. "I've heard that some dimension magic users can create a separate space that they can enter or leave as they wish." Bella said. "It's widely known as a Portal Home."

I looked at Bella in excitement. "Do you know how to use it?" I asked.

"Are you stupid? You already know I can only use wind and earth magic." Bella responded with an upset undertone.

"Sorry. I got too excited for a moment." I apologized.

"It's ok." Bella looked down and thought for a moment before raising her head to look me in the eyes. "Maybe the Guildmaster might know someone who can teach you?"

"Good idea! Let's get going!" I said as I jumped off the bed. My hand was on the doorknob when I realized Bella still needed to get ready. "I- I'll go wait in the hallway while you get ready." I awkwardly exited the room. Behind me, I could hear Bella laughing the moment I closed the door. I decided I wouldn't let it bother me.

A while later, Bella finally came out of the room. She was wearing a green dress and black leggings. She looked really cute. "Stop staring you fool. Let's get going." Bella walked right past me, her ears a slight shade of red. I smile at her back figure as I followed her down to the street.

As we entered the guild, Paul called out to us from the quest board. "Lucifer! Bella! Are you guys here for another quest?"

"Not today. We're looking for someone who can teach me about dimension magic." I responded.

"Oh." Paul said, a bit surprised. Suddenly his expression brightened as he said, "Wait! I know someone who could teach you about dimension magic!"

"Really?" I asked. I was planning on talking to the Guildmaster, but if Paul knows someone, I'd gladly take him up on the offer.

"Ya. She lives not too far from the guild. I'll introduce you to her." Paul smiled. We followed him out of the guild as he led the way.

"Just so you know, her name is Emilia Greensoul. She is a Light Elf who's over two hundred years old. Definitely don't mention her age. She hates being considered old." Paul explained.

"How did you meet her?" Bella asked.

Paul slowed down as he thought about how to explain his relation with her. "When I was still in the army, I had almost died while we were fighting a monster that had gotten near the capital. Suddenly, the monster stopped moving, it's claws only a few centimeters from my face. Slowly, the head of the monster fell, revealing a woman on its back. She had jumped down and looked at each of us one at a time. Apparently she was looking for someone, since she kept muttering something like 'he isn't here' or 'not him either'." Paul stopped talking after running out of breath and after replenishing his lungs, he continued. "As she was about to leave, I asked her if we could buy her a meal as thanks for saving our lives. After thinking I over she agreed. From that point on, we somehow became friends."

That was quite an interesting story. Apparently, Paul was a magnet for near death scenarios. I decidedly didn't point this out, but the thought was definitely on my mind.

We walked along a small garden path and finally arrived at a door. Paul knocked on the door and a moment later we heard someone call out, "Hold on! I'm on my way."

A minute later, the door opened and a beautiful woman entered my vision. She was only a little shorter than me, had bright green eyes and pointed ears. Her hair was a silvery white, causing her eyes to stand out even more.

Bella noticed my stare and not so discreetly stomped on my foot, breaking the trance I had fallen into. She was clearly upset at my reaction. I'd have to apologize later.

Paul started introducing us to Emilia. "This is Lucifer Arnova. He is an E rank adventurer and a friend. He helped save my life just yesterday, when I was sent flying by a monster." Moving on to Bella, Paul said, "This is Bella Supard. She is also an E rank Adventurer, and Lucifer's girlfriend. They are both friends of mine."

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Emilia said as she clasped her hands and slightly bowed. "This one is known as Emilia Greensoul. Please, come in."

It was a strange introduction, but I just assumed it had to do with traditions or customs among the Light Elves. We walked into her home as she closed the door behind us. Paul sat down on the ground near a low table, so we followed his lead.

"Now, how can this one be of assistance?" Emilia said as she looked at Paul.

"Well, Lucifer here is capable of using dimension magic, and he was looking for someone to teach him about it." Paul said as he glanced at me. "I know you're a dimension magic user as well, so I thought I'd introduce you to him."

Emilia turned her head to look at me, silently studying me. After a few minutes of scrutinization, she finally nodded her head. "He might just be the one."

Paul looked shocked when he heard those words. "You think Lucifer is the one you were looking for back then?"

"Indeed." Emilia said. "It is decided. This one will take you as a disciple. Do you wish to learn of the art of dimension magic?" She looked at me as she waited for my answer.

While I was confused, I knew I needed to learn dimension magic. It was an easy choice. "Yes. Please teach me."
