3 Ch.3 Blood Lily

She wiped away the tears from her eyes and kneeled next to the silver canister. Thorn heard a small clinking noise coming from it and smiled. "It's okay. I'm gonna let you out now." Gently she twisted the handle on the top and pulled the silver case off to reveal a glass jar with a lily inside. It's petals where pure white with blood red tips and pollen to match. She opened the jar and let the lily use its roots to climb up her arm. It reached her neck, wrapped its root around it and dug the tips into her skin. Thorn flinched as she felt the roots pierce her neck skin and burrow into her tissue. She could feel it gently drinking up her blood as it stay wrapped around her like a necklace. Slowly she stood up and laid down on her bed. Thorn fell asleep and didn't wake up until the next day. Touching her neck she felt something like metal and quickly got up. Looking in the mirror she saw that the blood lily had turned into a gem necklace. It's long flowing emerald vines shined in the light as well as the pearlescent lily with ruby tips, outlined in pure titanium. "Wow..." She couldn't believe her eyes. It was just so beautiful even as a gemstone necklace that it took all of her willpower just to look away. "We should visit father. I'm sure he'll be happy that we're home, little blood." Thorn got dressed in her nicest pair of black jeans and a skin tight, ripped navy blue shirt. "Jeez. I've got a meeting today too." Leaving her room she put her long black hair into a ponytail and walked down the hall to a pair of huge birch doors with her family crest carved into them. Gently she pushed open the door and went in. Over on the large king sized bed laid an wrinkled old man with grey hair, surrounded by tubes and wires. She walked over and put her hand on top of his. "Hey, daddy... I'm finally home." Tears filled her eyes as she saw just how much he had deteriorated while she was gone. "I found the blood lily, dad. We can finally get you better." Standing up next to him, she closed her eyes and felt the blood lily take her blood. After it was done crimson pollen floated down onto her father. Thorn opened her eyes and watched as the red pollen disappeared on his skin. Gently she kissed his forehead before leaving the room and walking straight into Luke. "Ow.. What the hell are you doing just standing in front of my father's door? You really hurt my nose, you ass." "Why where you in there?" "I told him about your sexual exploits while I was gone.... I was using the blood lily on him, what the hell else would I be doing you piece of shit?!" Annoyed she pushed past him and walked away. As she got to the large foyer she started to hear Kenneth pacing and fretting about her. "What are you doing?" Kenneth jumped when he herd her voice and turned to her. "Thank god! I couldn't find you anywhere!" "I was with my father... Why were you looking for me?" "I-I was just making sure you're okay..." She looked at him dissatisfied and bored with his answer. "How lame. Anyway. Here in a few hours we have a meeting with an old family friend. So be ready." "Of course!" His face turned a dark shade of red as his eyes studied every curve that her tight clothes emphasized. "Be sure to wear something nice. Now if you need me I'll be shopping for clothes and stuff." She began to walk out towards the garage and stopped by the kitchen to grab a bite. "Ms.Nightingale! I'm so happy you're back!" A small woman with white hair slowly walked over to her and gave Thorn a hug. "It's so good to see you Mrs.Rift. How's Arnold?" "That old bag of bones is at home being watched by Eric." "Eric's back?" "Our son's been living with us for a few years now." "That's nice. Maybe y'all could all come over and we can have dinner together sometime soon." "Of course! I'm sure Eric and Arnold would love to see you again. I mean look how much you've grown! You could be in magazines with your looks my dear." "We both know I wouldn't be able to do that. I'd miss being home too much." "Of course." "Mrs.Rift, would it be okay if I snagged one of your pastries? I'm actually on my way to go shopping." "Of course! Here let me call up Eric and he can go with you." "There's no need for that Mrs.Rift." "Now now. Eat up and I'll get him here in no time." Mrs.Rift pushed a tray of tarts over to Thorn and left the room to call Eric. Thorn sighed knowing that nothing would deter Mrs.Rift from calling Eric with some over exaggerated excuse for him to rush over. After a few minutes there was a knock at the back door and Mrs.Rift walked back into the room. "Could you get that dear? It should be Eric." Thorn walked over to the door and opened it. On the other side stood a sweaty buff man with brown hair, blue-green eyes and the makings of a beard holding a doctor's bag. "Mom?" He said out of breath. "Hello dear." She waved at him as Thorn moved out of the way. "You told me you fell and couldn't get up." "Nonsense. Eric you remember Thorn right?" Eric finally noticed Thorn still holding open the door. "Could you possibly come in? We are kinda letting all the heat out." Without saying a word Eric came into the house and stared at Thorn. Thorn closed the door and went back to the counter for another tart. "Thorn?" "Mm?" She looked over at him with a mouth full of tart and saw him gaping at her. "Umm. You okay there Eric?" "Wha!? Yeah yeah, I'm fine... I just can't believe it's really you!"
