Mom?

I went to my room, and changed into a new outfit for dinner. John seems to have this thing about how people look. If they don't look their best, then he doesn't show them any respect. My thing is that even a pauper deserves respect, so long as they are respecting you then you definitely need to respect them back. No matter what they are wearing at the time, Mom taught me that. As of right now I have no clue as to how John got together with my Mom, but if he was anything like the way he is now, I would have hoped that my Mother left him because of his personality problems. I pull the door open to Marcos's hand inches from my face as he looked like he was trying to knock on the door. Marcos pulls back his hand and gives an awkward smile.

"Young Master, Boss would like to see you in the study before dinner. This way please." He said embarrassedly.

Tilting my head to the side I looked at him trying to discern if he knew anything about what was going on with John or if I was going to have to figure that out for myself. The study was on the second floor which, I have only gone there twice and both times there was blood shed. As we were ascending the stairs I heard shuffling like a fight just outside the front door the double doors were thrown open. There in all her glory was my Mom and her shirt was torn open exposing her collarbone and her beige bralette that we'd made last year. She looked around the hall and she didn't seem to see me right away but when she did you could see the flash of relief in her eyes. Than the anger she looked behind me towards Marcos and then looked at the direction we were heading.

"John Park! You son of a whore! You better get down here right now before I have to come up there and get you! How dare you come and take my baby away from me?!?!" She roared.

Her voice echoed throughout the house, and it brought out a lot of guards from the upper floors. I look around and rush to stand next to Mom and take off my jacket to cover her up a bit. Jeez does she know that these guys are trained to defend this house like the secret service has to for the President. My hands grip her arms slightly as I can see more people appearing, my heart is racing and my brain is calculating the best escape routes out of this place as well as if Mom can keep up.

"Mom, he doesn't know I'm a girl. Grandpa knows but no one else does." I softly murmured next to her ear.

She stops breathing for a moment and turns to be with eyes wide like a deer in the headlights look. Then her face went pale, I'm not sure what all was going through her head, but I suppose she was doing the calculations and thought the worst was going to happen. Feeling the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, I turn and face the stairwell where I was just making my ascension up. There in all of his icy glory was John and he didn't look pleased to see Mom at all. Like just her presence was a bother, This made my blood boil, he cared enough to whisper sweet nothings to her almost 15 years ago but looks as if he was the abandoned wife.

"Hello, Jane. If I would have known that you were pregnant, I would not have let you leave so easily. Were you planning on keeping our child away from me forever? Did you even care about how I felt when I found out that I had a child and that Parker was already in high school?!" retorted John.

"You told me to leave, you told me that things weren't how they used to be and that I wasn't fit to be by your side. I had come there that afternoon to tell you what I had just learned from the doctor. When I tried to tell you anyways you brushed me aside as if I didn't exist. You, John, were the one who decided not me the day that you refused to listen to what I had to say. " Seethed Mom.

"..."

There was silence in the entire house, I thought the first meal was silent and awkward. This put the icing on the cake for silence royalty! Mom's chest was rising and falling quickly as if she was trying to control her temper towards John. I rubbed my thumb on her arm to try and give her a bit of comfort when she grabbed my hand in a death grip. Wincing slightly I glanced towards John and noticed that he was doing the same thing. Subconsciously I moved between John and my Mother. I've seen his temper before and I knew what he could do to people. Just thinking about it made me shudder and break out in a cold sweat.

"I concede then,it was my fault but it still doesn't make up for the fact that I miss out on so much of my son's life! His first word, the moment he learned to stand, to walk. All of his first important moments for his childhood I missed it because you didn't tell me even over the years that hey you have a son! I was wrong for not giving the chance to tell me that day. We can't change the past, but he will stay here. If you wish you can stay here as well alongside your father again. Of course if you live here you must work for me in anyway that I see fit. Make your choice Jane. Parker, you were going to be told today that you have been enrolled in a private school and will start in a few days. With your intelligence, you should be given the best opportunities to learn and grow this way." John unhurriedly stated.

"So long as you show my Mother respect I will stay, however you start disrespecting her again I will take this house down with everyone inside it. Myself included if that's what it takes. Do we have a deal?" I said softly.

I could feel all eyes on me, my Mom's included but I am a person of my word. Taking a deep breath I look up to John and see that his face showed that he was shocked at the words that I had spoken. I stood up taller, letting go of my Mother but still staying close to her. If he denied this request than we would need to leave quickly. The sounds of hurried footsteps drew everyone's attention towards the back of the house. With those hurried steps came Grandpa Henry, huffing from the exertion. He stopped dead in his tracks when he see mom, his daughter whom he hadn't seen in so many years. There was a look of warmth and shock that I could read before I heard a choked sob coming from behind me.

"Papa,..." Mom sobbed.

Grandpa Henry took the final ten steps in large strides embracing my mom into a bear like hug. The entire hall was filled with my mom's sobbing and I could tell by the guards faces that they were very uncomfortable with a crying woman as they kept shifting on the spot. I reached over and grasped Grandpa's shoulder giving it a squeeze to ease his heart a little. He had his face buried in Mom's hair and was just rubbing her back, just like Mom would do for me when I cried. I couldn't help but smile at the scene despite the circumstances it was a good time for a reunion nonetheless. A cough brought my attention back to the stairs where John seemed to have finished his contemplation.

"If you stay Parker, she will not be allowed to live here if she doesn't want to warm my bed. " He said sternly.

"You bastard, I've stayed behind to protect my child and grandchild fifteen years ago. You dare to say these things so easily as if I would allow my daughter to come back to you after all the things that you have done to her? Don't make me laugh, I have kept my word to you and your father that I would stay in the family. That does not mean the same for my children or their children. If it wasn't for the fact that Parker has your blood running through his body do you think I'd have let you anywhere near them?" Grandpa sneered.

"Old man, if I want her, I will have her. Don't think just because of the agreement we have it will hold me from taking what I want. I courted your daughter for years before I bed her and she came willingly. If she chooses to be with someone else then I'll make her stay by my side now unwillingly if that's what it takes!" John growled through clenched teeth.

"I would rather commit suicide here before my child than lay with you again. The person I had thought you were when I gave myself to you is not the person who you truly are. I have accepted that but don't flatter yourself to think that I will do it again now that I know your true colors. " She said through clenched teeth.

She had the look of utter hatred in her eyes and I could tell that she meant what she had said. The man whom my Mom described to me all the while I was growing up was the one that she had fallen in love with and then once he got what he wanted he took of the sheeps clothing. Clenching my fists, I attempted to calm my racing heart. All of these events happening so fast is going to give me whiplash and mental problems. I looked back at my Mom and Grandpa as the look on their faces said all that the wanted to say to John and more.

Looking back up to John I could see his face change colors rapidly and I knew that his temper was at its limit. I shifted more in front of my mom and Grandpa the more I seen his expression change. He slowly turned his eyes to me and it seemed that he was directing his icy glare at me for existing. John started to slowly, walk down the stairs towards the main floor. The guards that had gone between him and the stairs parted like moses did the sea. Marcos stepped aside but glanced at me with a worried look in his eyes that he didn't even try to hide. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, he paused as if he was observing his enemy.

Next thing I know, I heard my mom and Grandfather give out a shout. I turned around to see that men had come up behind them and pinned their arms to where they couldn't move. I whipped back around to find John was right in front of me and I had no time to react before a first landed on face. I fell to the floor but I shook my head and cleared my head despite the throbbing pain in my right eye I stood up. I was in defensive mode now and all I knew was that if I didn't at least try and defend myself I was going to die.
