1 Chapter 1

The sun began to rise up, shining its piercing rays onto the world. The girl, whose blanket rested on top of her face, could feel the warmth coming in through the window. The said window was high above her bed, but if the girl stood up on her two feet, it wasn't that tall. Yet, such a small window would still lit up the entire room. And indeed it did. The girl shook the blanket off herself then jumped up, excited for the day. As a cat, her body couldn't help but stretch for a while. Might as well get all those kinks in the neck and shoulders out when the day just started. Afterwards, she skipped towards her closet and immediately began grabbing all she could at the moment. She then threw them onto her bed. She did this multiple times until her entire bed was completely taken over by the waves of clothes— as though they were all a singular flood.

"There! That should be all of it," she proudly declared with hands on her hips.

The girl looked at her many options and went about trying on different combinations. First was a white sweater and black athletic shorts. Since it was Fall now, and the weather couldn't decide on being hot or cold, dressing up with both summer and winter clothes was a good idea in her mind. But, considering where she would go, she decided against the look. Next was a baby blue crop top with an off-the-shoulder bishop sleeves paired together with a light brown overall dress. The dress had a dark rim around the edges and an embroidered cat whiskers flowers on the sides. While it looked nice, she felt it was a little too much. She wanted to feel comfortable but still be cute looking. Then, she had an idea of combining the first sweater with an overall dress (she had two; one plain, black and the other mentioned above).

When she saw the pair mirrored back to her, she twirled around with glee. "Perfect!" She got rid of all her clothing hangers and placed them in her closet. Next, she grabbed her big, green backpack that, while it looked small, was considerable more spacious than one expected. She packed only clothes she found essential along with other essentials. The girl buckled it up and swung it over her back.

"Can't forget this," she whispered softly as she walked towards her jewelry box. Inside held only one item: a golden locket. It was shut tight with no way to budge it open. She tried several times— even going to jewelers to pry it open, but it was all in vain. Still, despite that, she kept it with her always. It was placed around her tiny head as a baby when she was dropped off at her now home. She would get feelings of attachment and love from it whenever it was around her neck...even though she never knew her parents or saw them (after all, she was only a baby), she could feel their presence surrounded the locket.

Once she looked around her room for the final time, she put on her shoes and proceeded to head out.
