Chapter :-91 Requirements To Unseal Elijah and Klaus

(A/N:-Before you start reading the chapter, I would like to highlight the fact that due to Freya and Rebekah's presence Henrik had grown a little soft and happy but that hasn't diminished his yearning for his family.)

(A/N:-Henrik would do whatever it takes to free his siblings from the coffins. After this chapter, Henrik would revert back to the old Henrik, indifferent, emotionless and ruthless for throughout the 3rd World War.)

(A/N:-Do not comment that Henrik is having mood swings or the change in his personality is too sudden, just remember that his family is his trigger. He snaps if something is related to his family.)

2035, Japan, Tokyo….

It's been over two decades since Henrik went to England together with Hydra squad to deliver the materials required for [Ozone Circle Magic] and exterminate the terrorist group [Al-Qaeda] which had been a nuisance to the government of Great Britain.

In this period, Advanced agricultural production becomes a solar-powered industry.

All the Japanese research facilities focusing on developing the Elements are shut down.

After returning from England the Hydra squad was abandoned and the 7-soldiers were recruited by different institutes.

Out of the 7-soldiers, Kudou Retsu was the one who left an impression on Henrik so he decided to keep an eye out for the young magician.

Henrik's gut feeling was telling him that there was something special about this man and he was right indeed.

Retsu came to be hailed as the pinnacle and the craftiest of magicians, he joined the 9-institute and rose to prominence during the early days of the [Ten Master Clans] as a soldier within the National Defense Force.

During his employment in the 9th-institute, he met a Ninjutsu user who taught him the clone body technique, [Matoi]. Inspired by the cloning technique, Retsu created self-effect type magic named [Parade].

While the original illusion magic that Kudou learned, [Matoi], was focused on creating a body clone, his new magic, [Parade], focused on changing the image of the user.

It writes coordinates into a false body that is a superficial duplicate that can't be differentiated with the caster.

This magic was helpful in fights since all of the opponents' attacks cannot target the real body making Retsu truly a force to be reckoned with.

In order to break through 'Parade', it's necessary to either locate the body between the time when the old illusion breaks down and a new illusion is created or disregard the five senses to find the coordinates of the body directly in the dimension of information.

Such magic was simply unseen before, the higher-ups of the military were fascinated by Retsu's magic and greed bloomed within their hearts.

Knowing this Henrik summoned the other members of the [Four-Great Leaders] and discussed the situation within the military.

"I say we should confiscate [Parade] and make it a [High-merit Reward] so that the soldiers and officials who want this magic would have to earn it through contribution."

"I don't agree, soldiers need to have a sense of belonging towards the country, not greed for the Merit-Rewards."

"I say we should leave him be…"

"Uhh? Please explain Henrik-kun!?"

"We should allow Retsu to have full control over the magic that he developed if we took away something that he created then the others who may create something similar would hide it from the government which would be bad in the long-run."

"Hmm…."

"You are indeed correct…"

"So what do you suggest Henrik-Kun?"

"Let [Parade] be classified as a Secret-Magic of the Kudou family, only a Kudou may learn this magic and every Kudou who uses [Parade] must be registered within the database of the Military and the Four-Great clans."

"This way we will be able to regulate the number of people using this magic and we will also have information on them in case we ever needed to take drastic actions."

"Very well then, we all agree to your plan Henrik-Kun."

"Please proceed with your plan…."

Henrik talked with the other leaders and allowed Kudou to keep his magic as secret family magic which only members of Kudou family were allowed to use.

Retsu was overjoyed by the fact that Henrik himself solved the problem he had unknowing created and thanked him to which Henrik just spoke in indifference.

"I did what was best for the country and the future."

So Retsu was sent on many missions while his brother had migrated to the US settling there with his family, Retsu became a veteran magician of hundred battles and participated in the military engagements occurring within the East China Seas against the magicians of the Guangdong Army.

Henrik was currently back at the Mikaelson compound, inside the basement where his brothers were sleeping.

After learning [Ancestral-Magic] from India, Henrik had grown even stronger than he imagined. His magical reserves had already recovered from the exhaustion of unsealing his dear sister Rebekah.

Wearing white cloak, golden-rimmed glasses and a purple pendant over his neck, he slowly walked towards the coffins lying on the floor, in the basement and caressed one of the coffins as if it was the most important thing in the world.

Henrik's palm burned as he continued to touch the coffin which was sealed by Spirit-magic of the Spirits. The pain was unbearable but Henrik felt nothing, only emptiness within his slightly filled heart.

In a heavy tone, he spoke out to no-one in particular other than his brothers.

"Nik, Elijah…..forgive me brothers for my incapability of freeing you both, my powers were limited and it took me centuries to recover from depleting all my magic."

"But now…..I finally have the strength to break the seals binding your coffins and free you both, only a requirement must be filled."

Saying so Henrik pulled back his burnt palm which was healing at a visible speed, after recovering to full health Henrik closed his eyes and utilized [Ancestral-Magic] to scan the structure of the joint seal placed on Elijah and Niklaus.

Strong spiritual-magic exited his body and covered the coffin to feel the pattern and structure of the seal placed on the coffins.

"Sacrifice…."

The first thing that came into Henrik mind was the word sacrifice, Henrik's eyes turned colder by a second before the last speck of humanity and emotion was suppressed by his intense desire to reunite with his family.

Henrik understood that a tyrannically large amount of blood sacrifice ritual had to be conducted in order to free the last two of his siblings.

Henrik frowned as he mumbled to himself.

"Freya and Rebekah wouldn't like this…."

"It's better if they don't know…."

Henrik adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses using his index finger before coming to a decision.

"I must complete the ritual and no one else should even know about this requirement."

"Fortunately I know how to successfully conduct such ritual."

A cold gleam flashed through his eyes.

Around this year, the entire planet had undergone a radical drop in temperature; the world's overall food supply deteriorated on a massive scale.

While the effects were felt less in developed countries, it greatly affected the emerging industrial nations, which were experiencing an accelerated demographic explosion brought on by radical economic growth.

Inhabitants of the northern regions of China tried to illegally cross the frontier into Russia, like how nomadic tribes used to travel, to escape the drop in temperature and desertification.

But Russia deported the illegal immigrants because environmental migration wasn't legalized under international law.

Due to Russia's harsh treatment of the Chinese migrants, China accuses Russia of lack of humanitarianism, while Russia simply replies that they were following international law.

Talks between Russia and China become more aggressive until they eventually break down.

The incident (attempt of illegal immigration by Chinese to Russia) was influencing several other events, such as low-scale conflicts over resources, and World War Three was on the horizon.

The upcoming conflict was the perfect opportunity for Henrik to fulfil the last requirement after all a war was going to take place and whatever cruel measures he may take, they were all legit.

The Magician Research and Development Institutes were ten research laboratories established by Japan, each with a specific research theme. Certain laboratories will have to be shut down in future, one after another due to inhuman research conducted among other reasons.

The 10-Laboratories for Magician development were established one after the other in the 2030s by the Japanese government in response to the increasing international tensions leading to World War III.

The laboratories' aim was not Magic development but Magician development, and so genetic research to manufacturing perfect Magicians for their target magic was included.

Kudou Retsu himself had undergone strength enhancement measures at the Army General Headquarters research institute before he joined the Ninth Institute.

The Army General Headquarters established a secret research institute in 2002. During the 2010s and 2020s, there were research institutes that operated, which were structured off the secret institute to develop the Elements; all of which were closed due to a change made in Magician development policy. Then these ten research laboratories were built in accordance with the new Magician development policy.

The 10-Institutes were all headed by the Four-Great clans.

[1st Research Institute]

•Head: Minamoto Mugazu

•Established 2031 in Kanazawa.

•Research Subject: Its speciality was the development of magic for direct interference of organic bodies in anti-personnel warfare. The vaporization magic [Rupture] is the derivative from that research.

However, research on human movement control magic led to [Puppet Terrorists] (suicide terrorists manufactured from puppeteer humans) and was halted.

•Ichijou (Ten Master Clans) - Developed magic that interfered with fluids in living organisms.

•Established 2031 in Awaji Island.

•Research Subject: In contrast to First Institute's magic, its focus is magic for direct interference of inorganic substances, especially the development of oxidation to a de-oxidation branch of Absorption Type Magic.

[3rd Research Institute]

•Head: Gerard Tachibana Muneshige

•Established 2032 in Atsugi.

•The Mitsuya Family actively provides the know-how to Magicians of the Defense Forces and about the applications of the Third Research Institute, meanwhile cooperating alongside the Houses of 'Three'.

•Research Subject: In developing Magicians that can independently handle multiple situations, it implemented multi-casting technology. Exploring limits on the maximum number of magic's that can be cast simultaneously and continuously, it is developing Magicians able to cast multiple magic simultaneously.

[4th Research Institute] (Personal)

•Head: Henrik Mikaelson

•Details are unknown.

•Believed to be located near the borders of old Metro Tokyo and old Yamanashi prefecture. Believed to be established in 2033. Rumours exist that the Fourth Research Institute was set up by an independent non-government sponsor who bears strong clout with countries, and it currently operates under said sponsor's support. There are also rumours that thanks to said sponsor, it was effectively operating before the 2020s.

•Research Subject: Using [Mental Interference Magic], it aims to strengthen the [Magic Calculation Area], the reservoir of the superpower so-called magic that resides in a magician's unconscious mind.

•Yotsuba (Ten Master Clans)

Henrik was going to participate in the 3rd World War, he wanted an absolute advantage in the upcoming war thus he experimented upon increasing the [Magic Calculation Area].

The experiment conducted by Henrik was absolutely inhumane and terrifying thus the information related to the institute was heavily guarded by Henrik. There was only one clan involved in the experiments while helping Henrik to explore the full capabilities of the human brain.

[5th Research Institute]

•Head: Freya Mikaelson

•Established 2035 in (Uwajima, Ehima).

•Research Subject: It focuses on Material Phase Manipulation Magic. Though the technically easy Fluid Control has turned mainstream, it has succeeded in [Solid-State Phase Manipulation]. The result is the Strategic-Class Magic co-developed with the USNA, [Bahamut].

Along with the Fluid Control Magic [Abyss], the laboratory won international fame for the magic development of two Strategic-Class Magics.

Henrik had asked Freya to head the 5th institute in order to keep her busy and off his trail as he prepared for the biggest massacre this world had ever seen.

[6th Research Institute]

•Head: Koga Mustuni

•Established 2035 in Sendai.

•Research Subject: Heat Control Magic. Along with the Eighth Institute, it is strong on theoretical magic research but light on practical military magic research. Nevertheless, it was said that this lab alone (apart from the Fourth Institute) has conducted more genetic engineering experiments than any other Magician Development Laboratory.

[7th Research Institute]

•Head: Kiyohime Gerard

•The Shippou Family's Magic created by the Seventh Research Institute called [Herd Control]. Here, the term herd does not refer to a group of biological organisms but instead referred to a group that was connected together without any rules. Multiple independent objects, or even phenomena, were manipulated together as if they were one body.

•Research Subject: It developed Magic that focused on anti-unit warfare. Their results are [Herd Control Magics]. This in contrast to the non-militaristic Sixth Institute, and it was set up as a Magician Development Institute that took on the additional role of emergency capital defence.

•Saegusa (Ten Master Clans) - (Moved from 3rd Research Institute)

•Shippou (Ten Master Clans) - (Elected to Ten Master Clans in 2097)

[8th Research Institute]

•Head: Minamoto Raikari

•Established 2037 in Kitakyushu.

•Research Subject: It researches on magic that manipulates the Four Fundamental Interactions (gravitational, electromagnetic, strong nuclear, weak nuclear).

It is a laboratory even more focused on theoretical research than the Sixth Institute. However, it differs strongly from the Sixth Institute when it comes to relations with the National Defense Force.

The Eight Institutes research can easily lead to nuclear weapons development; and so with National Defense Force's approval, it has been quashing suspicions that it was developing nuclear missiles.

[9th Research Institute]

•Head: Retsu Kudou

•Established 2037 in Nara. Currently shut down.

•The Ninth Research Institute was a joint civilian research facility operated by the Kudou, Kuki, and Kuzumi Families that researches Perception-Type Magic.

•In a fusion of Modern and Ancient Magic, by taking in Ancient Magic know-how to Modern Magic, it aimed to resolve many issues that plague Modern Magic like fuzzy magic sequence operation.

•Research Subject: To develop Magicians who could implement streamlined and re-systematized Ancient Magic into Modern Magic.

•Ancient Magic users, including Kokonoe Yakumo's predecessor, cooperated with the 9th Institute out of their own free will, in the hopes that they could improve the Ancient Magic that had been passed down with science and create even stronger magic.

However, from the beginning, the 9th Institute's goal was to develop stronger Modern magic by taking components of Ancient Magic and producing Magicians that were superior to them as weapons.

As a result, the Ancient Magic users only ended up getting the techniques they used being stolen. Even into today, Ancient Magic users feel hostility to Magicians produced by this Institute and bear the number 9 in their names.

[10th Research Institute]

•Head: National Defense Force

•Established 2039 in Tokyo.

•In addition to capital defence like the 7th, it focuses on [Wide-Area Magic] that generates virtual structures in space as a defensive countermeasure to heavy firepower. The results are the many varieties of anti-physical attack barrier magics.

In addition, the 10th sought to increase magic capabilities with methods different from that of 4th. Specifically, not by strengthening the [Magic Calculation Zone] itself but by temporarily overclocking it; it dealt in developing magicians that can cast powerful magic when the situation calls for it. However, the results were not publicized.

Used the research data from the 3rd Institute to allow the Juumonji Family to use multiple magics other than [Phalanx].
