Zou Tian was still not done pushing the blame on the maple passion pavilion, but he had to stop when another man patted his shoulder and told him to stay quiet, "Forgive this boy, he's still immature." The man apologized instead.

Sect master Xiao waved her hand as she responded, "No use talking nonsense. It's better to forget about those two anyways. Since they ran away, they ran away. I invited you all here for Ren Mengyao."

The two people the sect master was referring to were Fu Jie and his cellmate, right? It was certainly them!

Didn't this mean he was no longer a fugitive...?

The only thing that was visible was perhaps his mouth and jaw and just by looking at these two features, Fu Jie was sure that this man was the youngest among all these sect masters.

Fu Jie already knew who was the sect master of the maple passion pavilion and it wasn't hard to guess that the black and red-robed man was the sect master of phoenix ridge. So this man had to be either the sect master of the sky sect or the Jade pavilion, but if Fu Jie was guessing right, this man probably belonged to the latter rather than the former from the looks of it.

This was the sect that he was most interested to know about since even Luo Lijuan hadn't told him much about them.

The man had his head looking down as he continued, "If he's alive, he'll be found."

Sect master Xiao nodded as she agreed, "We can definitely find him. This is the reason why I called you all here."

"What does sect master Xiao have in mind?"

"An alliance."

"Alliance?" It was the turquoise-robed man who spoke up. If the other was the sect master of the Jade pavilion then this man was probably the sect master of the sky sect.

"We'll make an alliance to find him. Two elders from each of our sects would be asked to volunteer as leaders for the alliance. We'll send out our best students and try to search for him."

"So you want us to work together again?"

Sect master Xiao shook her head as she responded, "We hadn't worked together before this. Our sect was handling the two prisoners alone while your sky sect was handling Ren Mengyao alone. If we can all contribute an equal amount of force to catch them, I'm sure we'll be successful."

Fu Jie suddenly wondered what type of eastern adapted avengers plot this was. Contribute equal force? Fu Jie almost wanted to laugh at it.

He didn't know these people well but just from looking at them sitting here, he was sure that Luo Lijuan had not lied to him when she said that their unity was all for show.

If one were to turn their back, the other would not miss the opportunity to stab the person.

"We'll divide an equal amount of people to spread out and look for Ren Mengyao. For all four individual directions, there will be two elders leading the search group."

"Elder Dayu?" Zou Tian suddenly chuckled as he heard the name, "Sect Master Xiao should not be offended when I say this, but if it's your son, I'm afraid none of the other elders would want to volunteer for the task."

Sect Master Xiao gritted her teeth as she heard this, 'What do you mean to say?"

Zou Tian was about to say something more but he was suddenly stopped by his sect master who tapped him on the shoulder and apologized once again for his rude response, "He doesn't mean to offend you. It's just that Elder Dayu has an odd reputation."

"What's wrong with my son?!" The sect master who seemed to be patient and hospitable till now suddenly shouted without any care for who she was shouting at.

At this moment, Fu Jie had no doubt that this woman was certainly Xiao Jingyi's mother. Even her motherly responses were as sharp as ever.

The Sky sect master gulped as he shook his head and waved his hand around to help relieve the situation by saying, "There's definitely nothing wrong with your son. He's really reliable and amazing."

Sect Master Xiao nodded in agreement, "That's right. He's strong and reliable so what's the problem with having him volunteer?"

"..." The other sect masters were all silent since they didn't have a response to this, at least, not one that this Sect Master Xiao would like.

They didn't have a reply but at this moment, Fu Jie's tongue was itching to speak up.

Xiao Jingyi was the most unsuited man for this task!

If this plot were to be compared to avengers, Xiao Jingyi would certainly be Loki!

He was the one who broke Fu Jie out of jail and he was also the son of this demonic cultivator they were after so it was commonsense that he was the worst person to turn to in this situation, however, it wasn't like Fu Jie was going to tell them anything about all this.

It wasn't because he wanted to pay back the favor he owed to Xiao Jingyi or because he wanted to save the man. He wasn't gonna reveal any of these secrets simply because he couldn't.

It wasn't like he could just walk up to them and say something along the lines of 'Your elder Dayu is the son of the villain you are after and he was the one that broke me out of the jail that you guys had put me in.'

If he were to do something like that, he would really become the dumbest man alive.

The sect master of Jade pavilion suddenly chuckled lightly as he spoke up, "Elder Dayu is great. Since Sect master Xiao is taking this so seriously, I would also like to help."

Sect Master Xiao smiled as she nodded, "Your help would be much appreciated."

The sect master of Pheonix ridge also nodded as he finally unsealed his mouth and joined the conversation, "We'll send two elders."

The only sect left to respond was the sky sect whose master chuckled awkwardly and ended up agreeing to it in the end since the majority had already spoken.

Sect Master Xiao, "Since the elders are volunteering, their students can also help them by joining this alliance."

The others nodded and the Zou Tian asked, "What would be the name of this alliance?"

"The demon-hunting alliance." Sect Master Xiao replied.

Fu Jie didn't know why but he wanted to laugh as he heard this.

There was no demon, only a demonic cultivator so this name didn't make much sense, however, since the person who proposed this idea had named it, nobody would dare to say anything otherwise.

"With the son of heavens on our side, may the demon-hunting alliance be a great success." It was the sect master of Jade pavilion who had spoken and it made Fu Jie wonder if this man was a fan of Xiao Jingyi. He really seemed to be fond of him a lot.

A boy who was standing beside Fu Jie suddenly said something to his friend who was beside him and whatever he had said just so happened to capture Fu Jie's attention.

"Since Elder Mei is volunteering, we'll also have to go?"

"It looks to be the case."

The boy shuddered in fear as he asked, "Isn't that too dangerous?"

"With Elder Mei and Elder Dayu there to lead us, I'm sure the only danger we need to look out for would be their temper."

"Sh*t! That's right. How come they are chosen as leaders?!"

"This is another way for them to torture us!"

Fu Jie chuckled as he heard this.

These people seemed to be cowards who were afraid to go on this quest that was going to be pretty much pointless since their leader, Elder Dayu wasn't exactly going to lead them to the demonic cultivator. If anything, he was going to lead them in the opposite direction and would blame them for not being able to find the demonic cultivator.

Fu Jie was laughing at how afraid they were.

It was only after a minute did he realize that he was forgetting something really important.

This sect master... Didn't she say something along the lines of 'all students going along with their sect master...?!'

Fu Jie thought back to what Luo Lijuan had told him.

She mentioned something about him being an inner-core disciple under Elder... Dayu...
