The Metempsychosis

14th Century Europe

A scream pierced through the castle as men burst through the windows in various rooms. The maids let out screams as the men left in the house tried to stop the invaders, though they were met with the iron daggers gripped in the intruders hands. The daggers hit home in the maids and guards, killing them before the boots on the hunter's feet hit the stone floor.

"Find the girl, kill the beasts." The leader growled, shoving a girl to the ground. She had turned into her true form, her eyes black as her fangs were barred at him. She had a dagger sticking out of her chest, killing her as she laid on the ground silently. "Hurry." He turned and led the people out of the room to see other hunters killing the vampires. He sneered in disgust as he kicked some out of his way, spitting words of hatred when someone called for him.

"Maverik! She's up here!" He rushed up the stairs, turning to the room in front of the staircase to see a girl. She was no younger than sixteen, her eyes covered in her arms as she huddled into the corner of her room. "She's still human from what I can see." Alec Maverik made his way over to the girl he had been looking for, the girl who was the lone survivor of the Demonte family.

"Elizabeth? Elizabeth Demonte?" He whispered, his soothing voice coaxing her to peek at him. He smiled and held up his hands, trying to gain her trust. "My name is Alec Maverik. Me and my friends, we're here to save you." She looked around at the hunters standing around her, her eyes watering as she looked back at the man in front of her.

"They killed my family." She cried, letting out a sob as he gave a small nod. "They k-killed them and took me here." She buried her face into her arms again and cried, making Alec frown as he patted her head when a scream came from downstairs. He turned and was about to call out when someone ran into the room, panting as they crashed into other hunters.

"Alec, he's back. Kaius is back." Alec frowned, his eyebrows furrowing before he turned to the girl.

"Elizabeth, we need to go. The bad man is back." She looked up and gasped, her eyes widening as she grabbed Alec. He stood, pulling her with him just as a girl ran into the room, growling as she bared her fangs before she was stabbed in the shoulder.

"Go, we'll hold him back!" Others called as they rushed into the room, readying themselves as Alec made his way to the window with the girl. He kicked out the glass window and turned, wrapping a rope to the bed just as Kaius Cassian Rosewood reached the doorway. His eyes locked on the girl, snarling as he watched Alec wrap an arm around her before charging towards the window, letting out a yell as they fell out of the castle.
