5 Chapter 5

I'm on my computer sorting out some important details about my shipments and airdrops. I'm hating this. Stefan was supposed to handle this. And he took a break and now I'm in trouble. I don't know what to do.

Should I airdrop or nah? Some god direct my judgement. I don't wanna risk my money either. Airdropping is a risk. I scratch my chin, thinking what to do. I call Natalie and she picks up in two rings.

"Natalie, ask Lucas Carter to get a croissant and a black coffee for me." I bark. Why am I this exasperated?

"Okay sir." I hang up. I'm taking out the anger on my staff. I open my drawers for important paperwork, but I can't find any. Does Natalie have them? This day already has me tired. I think Stefan's gonna be back tomorrow. Once he's back, he and I together can figure it out. My phone buzzes and it's Natalie. I pick up.

"Sir. Peter Graves wants to come to discuss the shipment in Dallas."

God, does it have to be now? Fuck.

"Okay, send him in."

Why is Lucas taking this long? What has gotten into everyone today? Peter enters my office. "Sit down." I point at the chair and he takes a seat and hands me some files.

"Mr. Godfrey, please go through these files. They have the estimation of money we may lose if we airdrop." I take the files and briskly turn over the papers.

"Fine, Graves. I'll inform you when I'm done." I dismiss him with a bid and he leaves. Suddenly my office door opens again. Who is it now?

It's Lucas, he's standing near the door. Why doesn't he get in? Now he needs permission? God, Godfrey, stop being a prick.

"Come in, Lucas."

He comes in and places the coffee cup on the desk and gives me the croissant.

"Where were you this long?"

"Sorry, er…I was—"

"Let it not happen again." I put up my hand, signalling him to stop. This guy disarms me. I can't even snap at him. I find him attractive and this pisses me off even more. He nods and turns to leave. I must keep my eyes off him.

"You never asked me if you could leave." The words are out of my mouth before I could process them. Fuck. Lucas stops in his tracks and turns to face me.

"I, um…er…an-nything else?" He stutters out. Okay, now he's started stammering.

Beauty with brains and manners, I see. I cock my head to one side as he averts his gaze towards the floor.

"Intimidating you, am I?" I give him a wicked grin. Well, the rational part of my brain is ordering me not to do this.

"I…um, er…kinda." He murmurs. I stalk towards him, until my height is towering him as I stand dangerously close to him. That's when I finally notice that he has a lollipop in his mouth. The stick of the candy us protruding out of his beautiful lips. They're pink due to sucking the candy.

Did he desperately do that? And why did I even take so much time to notice the lollipop? Do I need glasses now.

Unsure of what to do, I take the lollipop out of his mouth in a jiffy. He's gaping at me, as if asking for some justification about why I did that.

I twirl the stick of the lollipop around my fingers as I put it in my mouth. Lucas is staring at me, as if I ate some forbidden fruit. Why did I even put it in my mouth?

I suck the lollipop once as I say, "Lollipops aren't allowed, Mr. Carter." He opens his mouth to say something but then, closes it again.

"Um…will that be all?" He's looking at the floor again.

"Yes, you may leave."

He scurries out of my room and closes that door behind him. By the way, the lollipop is of strawberry flavour. It tastes good. I should have Luke to buy some for me. I say to myself, as I go back to my desk again.
