35 Chapter 1 (Rewritten)

There were three teenagers who were 19 and were walking around the streets of Republic City. One was a light skinned young man who had combed-over black hair and golden eyes who was wearing modernized fire nation clothes. The second was a young man also who had brown skin and blue eyes wearing a blue t-shirt and sweatpants. He had his hair in a ponytail and let a strand fall off just to look cooler. Lastly was a young man in front of them, he had black hair that was medium length that parted in the middle and green eyes. He had a deep green jacket on top and wore brown pants that looked aerodynamic. They all have come back from their time in Zaofu, working directly under the Matriarch for years.

They were supposed to be soldiers for the United Forces, but they dropped out and traveled to Zaofu as the Earthbender had some connections there, with the matriarch to be more specific. They had been her top security forces and though they were known as outsiders, they were welcomed with open arms.

The three worked under the Matriarch since they were 16, making it 3 years since they worked for her private security force. They were different from the normal security force as they were maintaining the peace from behind the scenes. There have been incidents that have been avoided no thanks to them. They have stopped smuggling of drugs and human trafficking. The three have finally decided to come back home, but something was telling them that it was going to be an interesting predicament that is happening in Republic City.

As they were walking down the streets of Republic City they started to see a lot of things they were familiar with. Things like the power struggle, crime, delinquents, but something that was new was the fact of an anti-bending revolution. They encountered a rally that was happening nearby the City Hall which was soon dispersed by the Metal Bending Police of the city.

"Hey Kuo," the Firebender said. The Earthbender now known as Kuo looked at the Firebender, "What's up Yuji," Kuo said.

"Look, it's your m—" the Waterbender started to talk when he saw a grey-haired woman wearing the uniform of Republic City's Metalbending police. She had a stern aura and her pale-green eyes made people shiver at times. This woman was Lin Beifong, daughter of the legendary Toph, and Republic City's current chief of police.

Kuo looked to see Lin who made eye contact with him. When the two made eye contact they looked at each other as if they were not happy to see each other. Lin maintained her expression while Kuo had a calm yet reething expression.

"Hello Kuo," Lin said in a neutral voice.

"Mother…" Kuo said with slight venom in his voice. Lin ignored her son's tone and noticed his two friends behind him.

"Seems like you, Yuji, and Moe came back from Zaofu," Lin said.

"Yes ma'am," Moe said awkwardly. Him and Yuji could feel the tension between Kuo and Lin, but soon after they did they tapped onto Kuo's shoulder.

"We're gonna go back home," Yuji said, "we'll see you soon, man."

Kuo nodded as they walked back home. He soon turned his attention to his mother, "I see you're busy as usual."

"Surely you've heard about the Equalist movements," Lin said.

"First time I heard," Kuo simply shrugged, "Well I'm heading off, I don't want to interrupt your work."

Kuo walked away from his mother and passed by the City Hall building where the leaders of the nations would delegate, but he stopped walking when he heard an elderly male voice. "Kuo?"

Kuo looked back to see an older man who had Air Nomad robes. He had a bald head that had tattoos that said you're an airbending master with grey-blue eyes and a full beard. Kuo looked back to the man and noticed who it was. Tenzin, son of the late Avatar Aang, was looking at Kuo who gave a softer expression to the man.

"Hello, Father," Kuo said.

"Kuo," Tenzin said with surprise. He didn't know that his eldest son was coming back so soon, "You came back earlier than we anticipated."

"Is that a bad thing?" Kuo asked, narrowing his eyes. Tenzin started to shake his head, "No, that's great, your brother and sisters will be happy to see you." Tenzin said, he then had an idea, "Why don't you come over for dinner tonight, they will be happy to see that you've returned home."

Kuo started to soften his expression when he heard the siblings. He agreed with his father that his siblings would be ecstatic to see him back home. He looked to his father with a genuine smile, "Okay, I'll be there."

He started to walk away back to his apartment, but looked back to his father. "I'll see you then," Kuo said, before walking off. As he was walking down to his apartment he saw a guy with a cheeky grin on his face as if he met a pretty girl. He had black hair and golden eyes which would make him of Fire Nation decent. He wore a red scarf and a dark grey shirt with a white undershirt.

"What's that grin for, loser?" Kuo asked. The guy started to snap out of his phase as he saw who was talking to him. He started to gulp as he saw the colossal size of Kuo.

"Sorry," the guy said.

Kuo started to chuckle as he started to walk away, "Just messin' with ya."

As he walked away, the guy looked at Kuo's retreating figure and said to himself, "I'm never gonna tell Bolin about him."

———

It was now night and Kuo was taking a boat along Yue bay. He looked out to the sea and saw the statue of his Grandpa Aang which made him take out a small book. On the page, it showed a photo. What was shown was Grandpa Aang before he died, holding the baby Kuo in his hands with Grandmas Katara by his side and Toph on the other. He started to let out a lighthearted chuckle as he saw Grandma Toph was facing the wrong way.

"Kid, we're here," the sailor said.

Kuo looked ahead towards the bow of the boat and saw Air Temple Island. Home of the Air Acolytes and his father. It was also his home as he lived there before leaving Republic City. He remembered all the things he did on the Island. He remembered making funny statues of his father much to Tenzin's annoyance and would also use it to make more room for the sky bison which slept in the caves. When the occupancy increased Kuo used his earthbending to make the cave longer and larger for them to sleep in.

As Kuo got off the boat he started to walk along the dock which led to the training grounds and saw an animal which surprised him. There was a full-grown polar bear-dog sleeping which suddenly woke up as it smelled Kuo. It started to get up and walked towards him, Kuo felt its heartbeat through his seismic sense and sensed that it didn't raise. He saw the polar bear-dog walking around Kuo and sniffing him. Kuo didn't do anything as it started to lick him from the back of his head. Kuo looked back to see the polar bear-dog wagging its tail and panting. Kuo started to chuckle as he started to pet the polar bear-dog. It started to nuzzle along Kuo's hand and got on its back making Kuo rub its belly. But he soon stopped when he felt another heartbeat. He looked back to see a girl who had a slender yet muscular build. She wore Southern Water Tribe clothing and had a top that showed her toned arms. She had crossed her arms and had a smirk on her face as she walked towards them.

"Looks like Naga likes you," the girl said.

Kuo smiled as he smiled at the dog, "So Naga's your name." He said this to the dog as it started to lick Kuo's face, much to his annoyance. He simply wiped his face and looked at the girl, as he had a good look at her his eyes widened.

"You're Avatar Korra if I am correct."

The girl now known as Avatar Korra looked at Kuo and widened her eyes as if she knew who he was. "You're Kuo."

Kuo looked at Korra in surprise, "You know who I am?"

"Your Dad told me a lot about you," Korra said, "whenever he went to visit me in the South Pole, he told me about you."

"Really?" Kuo asked. He was surprised that his father would go out of the way to mention him to Korra. Perhaps his father was trying to redeem himself after all. He smiled as he started to talk, "Well I hope he told you good things about me."

"Tenzin told me you are an amazing earthbender and metalbender," Korra said, "maybe you can teach me how to metalbend one day."

Kuo started to laugh as he started to walk to the dining area, "Talk to me about it after you are done training under Dad."

Korra smirked as she ran to catch up to Kuo as the two were walking towards the dining area. As the two were walking up the training ground they entered the main building reserved for Tenzin and his family. As the two entered Kuo was suddenly tackled by two missiles.

"Kuo!"

Kuo fell on the floor as he saw the two small children hugging him. He looked to where his torso was being hugged and saw Ikki and Jinora hugging him.

"Hey kids," Kuo said with a smile, "what got you two so excited?" As the two girls got off their older brother as they were ecstatic to see their older brother back home after being gone for 3 years.

"It's been 3 years since we last saw you!" Ikki said, hugging one of his legs.

"We missed you so much," Jinora said while hugging her brother's lower torso. Kuo smiled as he hugged his younger sisters. Kuo looked ahead and saw a boy who had a bald head and grey eyes. Meelo had grown, last time Kuo saw him, Meelo was 2 years old. Pema who was looking at the scene leaned towards Meelo and he was able to hear what she said.

"Meelo, that's your older brother," she said.

Meelo looked at Kuo and smiled as he jumped onto the earthbender's shoulders. "Are you really my brother?" Meelo asked, "you look too cool to be my brother."

"Uhh thanks?" Kuo said he didn't know if he should take it as a compliment or an offense.

Tenzin cleared his throat as he was sitting as the head of the house. Though he was happy to see his 4 children together, they had a meal to eat and the children had bedtime.

———

Dinner was about to begin with Tenzin sitting across from Korra and his oldest son. Meelo and Pema were to his right, Jinora and Ikki were to Korra's left. Tenzin was praying, "We are grateful for this delicious food, for happiness, for compassion, and—"

"I'm not interrupting, am I?" An obnoxious voice was heard and Kuo looked ahead to see someone he was too familiar with. The man had dark skin, dark brown hair tied to three ponytails, and wearing Water Tribe clothing.

"This is my home Tarrlok. We're about to eat dinner." Tenzin said with a hinge of anger.

Tarrlok feints ignorance, "Good, because I am absolutely famished." The councilman said.

Tenzin narrowed his eyes on the man.

Tarrlok saw this and smiled, "Airbenders never turn away a hungry guest, am I right?" he asked in a taunting tone.

Tenzin sighed, "I suppose so." He sat down and Pema glared at him with crossed arms. Tenzin just shrugged at his wife.

"Ah, you must be the famous Avatar Korra. It is truly an honor." Tarrlok said with a bow, "I councilman Tarrlok, representative from the Northern Water Tribe." He said

Korra stood up and bowed to him, "Nice to meet you." She said back. Tarrlok saw the young man next to the Avatar and smiled.

"Kuo Beifong, it's always a pleasure to see the son of our established chief of police." Tarrlok said.

Korra and Tenzin noticed the passive-aggressive expression as if Tarrlok knew which buttons to push. Tenzin was hoping that his son wouldn't do anything, but he just glared at Tarrlok.

"He's my son too," Tenzin quietly muttered.

"Councilman," Kuo said with a neutral tone.

As Tarrlok sat down on Korra's left side, Ikki got close to him.

"Why do you have three ponytails and how come you smell like a lady? You're weird." she interrogated Tarrlok and made her older brother snort.

Tarrlok looked at the girl, "Well are you... precocious." He said he then turned to Korra, "So, I've been reading about all your adventures in the papers. Infiltrating Amon's rally, now that took some real initiative."

"Well, aren't you...precious?" Tarrlok said as he turned to Korra. "So, I've been reading all about your adventures in the papers. Infiltrating Amon's rally, now that took some real initiative." Tarrlok said.

"Oh, thanks. I think you're the first authority figure in the city who's happy I'm here." Korra said.

"Republic City is much better off now that YOU'VE arrived." Tarrlok said.

"Enough with the flattery, Tarrlok. What do you want from Korra?" Tenzin asked in a protective and suspicious tone but Tarrlok put up his hand.

"Patience, Tenzin. I'm getting to that. As you may have heard, I am assembling a task force that will strike at the heart of the revolution and I want you to join me." Tarrlok said to Korra.

"Really?" Korra asked.

"What?!" Tenzin asked, shocked.

"I need someone who will help me attack Amon directly. Someone, who is fearless in the face of danger. That someone is you." Tarrlok said.

"Join your task force? I can't." Korra said, shocking both Tenzin and Tarrlok while Korra drinks her drink.

Kuo started to look towards the Avatar as she started to explain herself.

"I must admit, I'm rather surprised. I thought you'd jump at the chance to help me lead the charge against Amon." Tarrlok said.

"Me too." Tenzin said.

"I came to Republic City to finish my Avatar training with Tenzin. Right now, I just need to focus on that." Korra said.

"Which is why this opportunity is perfect. You would get on the job experience while performing your Avatar duty for the city." Tarrlok said.

"Korra gave you her answer. It's time for you to go." Tenzin said, annoyed.

"Very well. I'm not giving up on you yet. You'll be hearing from me soon. It has been a pleasure, Avatar Korra." Tarrlok said walking out.

"Bye-bye, Ponytail Man!" Ikki calls only for Tarrlok to growl at that name and then leaves.

———

After dinner had ended, Kuo and Tenzin remained at the dinner table as they were discussing things that were happening in Republic City.

"As you have seen, the Equalists have been relentless," Tenzin said, "Tarrlok managed to convince the Council to create a Task Force."

Kuo nodded at what his father had said as he took a sip of tea. He looked at Tenzin, "I never liked him in the first place, though I am surprised about one thing."

Tenzin raised an eyebrow as he looked at his oldest son.

"You told Korra about me," Kuo said.

"Well of course," Tenzin said, "you're my son. I know your mother and I have not always been there for you. Ever since you left Republic City, I had always blamed myself for what happened."

"Well it was not only JUST you," Kuo said.

"I know and I sometimes wish I was a better father to you back then," Tenzin said with guilt, "I wished I listened to you when your mother was not there, but—"

"No it's okay," Kuo said. He looked at Tenzin with a smile as he spoke. "I forgive you, you tried your best to remedy my situation with Mother and I never got the chance to say sorry."

"Me too," Tenzin said.

The father and son sat together for quite some time and Kuo noticed the time so he got up.

"Well I have to go," Kuo said, "I had plans to meet Yuji and Moe back at the apartment."

Kuo got up and went out of the dining hall but Tenzin called out for his son.

"Kuo."

Kuo looked to Tenzin who stood up, "I just want to wish you a happy birthday."

Kuo gave a smile to his father as he nodded. "Thanks, Dad."

———

Kuo was walking down the streets of the upper class area of Republic City. He passed by a restaurant that he was very familiar with, Kwong's Cuisine. He remembered when he would go to this restaurant with this girl from his school. He and her were way closer than he was with Yuji and Moe. They at one point dated, but broke up when he decided to leave the city.

He had a good look at the restaurant before going back to his apartment. He walked up the stairs of his apartment complex and took out his keys as he unlocked the door and opened it, but he started to feel a lot of heartbeats as he figured it was a surprise for his birthday. He closed the door behind him and in front of him was a hallway that opened up to a living room and also had a kitchen entrance on his left which opened up the living room as well. He started to get in as people popped out of their hiding spots.

"Surprise!"

Moe jumped out with Yuji behind, but Kuo started to understand the other heartbeats when he saw a bunch of girls coming out of the corner.

"Happy 19th Birthday, Kuo!" the whole group said. Kuo was shocked when he saw the group of escorts, Yuji, and Moe wishing him a happy birthday. But he snapped out of his phase and smirked and the group started to party and get drunk out of their minds.

———

He didn't remember any of what happened last night as he was asleep naked in his bed with two other girls beside him. Kuo started to get up and get dressed. He only had his Air Nomad pants on as he walked out the door and saw a letter for him. He picked it up and saw who the sender as it said: Hiroshi Sato.

He took the envelope in and sat in the dining room. He was drinking his coffee as he opened the envelope to show a letter.

Kuo, I heard from your Father that you have returned to Republic City. I would like to give you something as a happy birthday. Come over to the factory to get your present.

Hiroshi.

Kuo chuckled as he started to go back into his room and put on his shirt. The girls who were in his room woke up, but he ignored them as he quickly got out and went out to a factory that was owned by one of the greatest, Hiroshi Sato and his company Future Industries.

———

Kuo was walking down the streets of Republic City as he stopped at a massive factory and entered it. There was a person that allowed people in and out and he stopped Kuo from entering further.

"Hold it up there kid!" the man said. Kuo stopped as the man approached Kuo.

"What are you doing, kid?" the man said. Kuo looked at the man who widened his eyes, "Kuo?"

Kuo nodded to the man, "Sorry 'bout that, you can go in, Hiroshi is talking to someone and Asami."

"It's all good old geezer," Kuo said with a smirk, "I'll be going."

Kuo walked into the factory and saw the satomobiles being assembled. He was walking down the walkway and saw a middle-aged man handshaking the same loser that Kuo saw yesterday. Then there was a girl in front of them, she had long black hair and wore upper class clothing. She looked back and Kuo could see her full appearance, she had green eyes, purple eyeshadow, and red lipstick on. Asami Sato, Kuo's best-friend and ex-girlfriend. Asami saw Kuo and had a smile on her face as she ran towards him.

"Kuo!"

She wrapped her arms around the earthbender's neck as he hugged her back, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Hey Asami," Kuo said, he soonly let Asami go as he looked at her, "You look great."

"You're the one to talk," Asami said with a smirk, "look at yourself, you put on some weight after being gone for 3 years."

"Ah stop it," Kuo said. They shifted their attention towards Hiroshi and the other man as Asami introduced the man to Kuo.

"Mako, this is my best friend Kuo," Asami said, "Kuo, this is Mako, my boyfriend."

Kuo looked to Mako and stuck his hand out for Mako to shake, Mako shook the taller earthbender's hand. Mako looked at Kuo who seemed to look like someone from earlier.

"You don't happen to be a Pro-bending player, are you?" Mako asked.

"Me no," Kuo said, "I used to though."

"I see," Mako said, "I saw your photo from the hall of fame."

"I see," Kuo said, he shifted his attention to Hiroshi, "It's been a while, Hiroshi."

"Indeed it has," Hiroshi said, "I have your birthday present for you."

Hiroshi and Kuo walked off to get the motorcycle as Mako and Asami looked at them.

"How do you know Kuo?" Mako asked.

"Well he was one of the most popular guys in school," Asami said, "afterall, he is the grandson of Avatar Aang."

"He's a Beifong?" Mako asked with surprise.

Asami nodded as Mako said, "Bolin looks up to his Grandma Toph. Toph is his hero."

———

At Air Temple Island there is a luxurious Satomobile wrapped in a ribbon and Tenzin walks past it while Ikki and Meelo are playing in it and making car noises.

"Out of the way, Daddy! We're driving!" Ikki said and Tenzin shook his head.

Tenzin sees Kuo who smiled.

"I'm assuming the motorcycle was a birthday present?" Tenzin asked.

Kuo nodded, "Hiroshi sends his regards. By the way, I brought the Motorcycle here if that's okay."

"It is," Tenzin later looked back at Ikki and Meelo, "Just make sure those two don't touch it."

"Got it," Kuo said, he later went to his two siblings and got them out of the satomobile as Tenzin goes to Korra. She was at a round platform with a yin-yang symbol and was practicing airbending stances.

Korra is circling around the platform while practicing.

"I see Tarrlok's gifts are getting more and more extravagant." Tenzin said joining the Avatar

"Yeah. That guy doesn't know how to take 'no' for an answer." Korra said.

"Why don't you take a break?" Tenzin said, sitting down on the stairs and Korra joined him. "I'm glad you turned down Tarrlok, but I just want to make sure your decision was for the right reason." Tenzin said.

"I'm just really focused on my Airbending training right now is all." Korra said.

"Right, that's what you said. You know it's okay to be scared. The whole city is frightened by what's been going on. The important thing is to talk about our fears, because if we don't, they can throw us out of balance." Tenzin said but Korra said nothing. "I'm always here for you if you want to talk." Tenzin said as he left.

Later Korra is on the railings, leaning against the door of the mansion on the island and just the council page from before arrives.

"Avatar Korra, I have something for you." The council page said making Korra annoyed while jumping down from the railings and unleashes a 180 degrees earth slab sending the page off and then Korra delivers a kick.

"It doesn't matter how many gifts Tarrlok sends, I am NOT joining his task force!" Korra said while Kuo and Jinora were playing some Pai Sho.

"It's not a gift, it's an invitation." The council page said.

"To what?" Korra said, taking a piece of paper from the page's hand and reading it.

"Tarrlok is throwing a gala in your honor. All of Republic City's movers and shakers will be there. The councilman humbly requests your attendance." The council page said.

"Gala?"

———

Later at night at the city hall with two huge banners with Korra on them Korra, Kuo, Tenzin, Pema, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo arrive at the city hall dressed in gala clothing and the two younger ones ran off and the other attendants begin clapping their hands as they see Korra and Pema starts wandering and talking with other people while Kuo looks at the whole gala with an uneasy expression.

He wore Zaofu clothing that exposed his toned arms and a metal necklace. He also had metal wristguards. Kuo sighed and glared at his father, not wanting to attend this. Tenzin sighed and patted his son's shoulders, "It is respectful that we accept Tarrlok's invitation. Besides, I have a bad feeling about this."

Kuo just sighed in defeat as Jinora stayed close to him.

"Kuo, can you please stick with Jinora? Pema and I will handle Korra and the other kids," Kuo nodded at his father before walking away and into the crowd of rich and important people. He watched as Tarrlok approached Tenzin and Korra. He narrowed his eyes as Tarrlok led Korra away from Tenzin.

Tenzin is alone and he looks around and then he notices Meelo and he turns blue and gasps.

"No, Meelo! That's not the toilet! Oh, dear..." Tenzin said, walking to Meelo in shame and embarrassment while covering his eyes.

His attention was later brought back to his sister as she tugged on his Zaofu clothing. He smiled down as she motioned for him to kneel down a bit. "What's wrong, Jinora?"

"Have you been to these kinds of events?"

"I had to attend these. Why do you ask?"

Jinora looked around and shrugged, "It's just a bit... overwhelming."

Kuo chuckled and picked up his sister, "It will be fine. I'm right here, Jinora." She smiled at her brother and held onto his neck so she didn't fall off his grasp.

Kuo later saw his mother's familiar grey hair in the crowd and his smile fell into a look of dread.

"What's wrong, Kuo?" Jinora later looked and saw Kuo's mother.

Kuo reluctantly walked to his mother with Jinora in his arms, "Hello Mother, I assumed you were dragged here..."

"I was," Lin said, she later observed her son carrying his younger sister. "I see you've been busy."

"Well, you know me," Kuo said.

"Chief Beifong, Kuo!"

Lin approached Tarrlok with Kuo following with Jinora in his arms. "I believe you and Avatar Korra have already met.

Kuo later noticed his mother look at Korra in distaste as he knew what this is about, "Just because this city is throwing you this big gala, don't think you're something special. You've done absolutely NOTHING to deserve this." Kuo later grabbed his mother's shoulder and glared at her.

"Mother, this a formal event," Kuo said, "please now isn't the time."

Mako and Bolin from a distance looked at them with wide eyes, but Kuo chose to ignore it. Lin rolled her eyes at her son and removed his hand from her shoulder, walking away.

Kuo looked at Korra with an apologetic look, "I'm sorry about her."

"Kuo!"

Kuo looked and saw Asami who came up to them. "I didn't know you would come!"

"Well, my parents are here," Kuo said, "So it would be natural for me to come along."

Later Kuo was looking around for Korra and later saw the media bombard her with questions.

"If you'd be so kind, they just have a couple of questions." Tarrlok said.

"But..." Korra was cut off as Tarrlok pushed her forward.

"Avatar Korra, you witnessed Amon take away people's bending firsthand. How serious a threat does he pose to the innocent citizens of Republic City?" One of the reporters asked.

"I think he presents a real problem." Korra said.

"Then, why have you refused to join Tarrlok's task force? As the Avatar, shouldn't you be going AFTER Amon?" The other reporter asked.

"Well, I..." Korra was cut off.

"Why are you backing away from this fight?" The second reporter asked.

"What? No! I've never backed away from anything in my life!" Korra said.

"You promised to serve this city, aren't you going back on that promise now?" The next reporter asked.

"Do you think pro-bending is more important than fighting the revolution?" The fourth reporter asked.

"How do you think Avatar Aang would have handled this?" The fifth reporter asks and Korra is confused, annoyed, and intimidated by the bombardment of questions.

"Are you afraid of Amon?" The second reporter asked.

"I'm NOT afraid of anybody!" Korra yelled. "If the city needs me, then...I'll join Tarrlok's task force and help fight Amon!" Korra said.

"What?" Kuo asked, shocked.

"There's your headline, folks." Tarrlok said and cameras start flashing while Tenzin hangs his head in disappointment while Mako and Bolin look at each other confused along with the other guests while Asami smiles at this while Kuo is baffled.

———

The next day had already arrived and Kuo, Moe, and Yuji were reading the newspaper together as it said, "Councilman Tarrok's elite task force successfully captured chi blockers training underground a bookstore. Thanks to Tarrlok's task force and the Avatar at their side, the city is slowly becoming a much safer place. The Avatar and Councilman Tarrlok have agreed to make a press conference later today this evening at five o'clock."

"What are we gonna do?" Moe asked.

"What we always do," Kuo said.

Kuo narrowed his eyes as he went inside a cabinet that contained a set of platinum tonfas so metalbenders wouldn't be able to retrieve them. They also had a button that popped a sharp blade out for cutting and stabbing.

"Intervene," Kuo said.

Moe and Yuji nodded as they also went into the same cabinet to get their gear. Now they were dressed in all black and were hooded and masked so no one would tell who they were. They opened the window that led out to a rooftop and Kuo looked to his two other friends.

"The Trouble Trio is going to strike tonight," Kuo said.

"Target?" Yuji asked.

"Equalists." Moe said.

———

Tenzin flies with his glider and lands on the dock where Korra, Tarrlok, and several others are.

"Korra, this is madness." Tenzin said to the girl.

"Don't try to stop me and don't follow me." She said in sadness, "I have to face Amon alone."

Tenzin rounded on Tarrlok, "This is all your doing!"

"I tried to talk her out of it, but she's made up her mind." Tarrlok said

Korra used her waterbending to propel her boat to the island.

From a distance Kuo, Moe, and Yuji were watching with a telescope from a crate in the dock of Republic City.

———

Korra stood at Aang Memorial Island and waited for Amon to show up, but he didn't.

She jumped down and started to walk back to the docks when a rope grabbed her legs and pulled her into a dark corridor.

She quickly freed herself as she spun around and let loose a fire ring and saw that she was surrounded by chi blockers with the flash of light from the fire.

She valiantly tried to fight them off but they blocked her chi and prevented her from bending.

She woke up a few seconds later and found herself being held by two chi blockers. Amon came in, "I received your invitation, young Avatar," he said. He stuck out his hand as if he was going to take Korra's bending away, but instead grabbed her chin.

"Our showdown, while inevitable, is premature," Amon said, "Although it would be the simplest thing to take away your bending right now, I won't. You'd only become a martyr."

As Amon was talking, he knocked her out, but heard screaming outside. The door opened in the memorial building and an unconscious body was lying in front of them. Amon looked ahead and saw three people. They were all dark figures, the one in front had what seemed like metallic tonfas, the two behind the dark figure were displaying their bending, one had a flame engulfed fist and the other hand water overlaying his hands.

"Retreat," Amon said.

The henchmen of Amon started to retreat as the waterbender and firebender went to chase them. The tonfa wielding individual went to grab Korra and carried her out of the memorial building. As he was on the edge of the island, he looked towards Air Temple Island and launched an earth column to launch himself and the unconscious Korra in his arms back to the island. When he did, a bunch of Air Acolytes saw the figure carrying Korra and went towards the figure.

"She needs to rest," the figure said. The Air Acolytes nodded as they took Korra into her room, having the dark figure leave the island by launching himself with another earth column.

A/N: Rewritten story of the Mechanic and the Earthbender! I have basically introduced the two other OCs earlier. The cast is as follows: Kuo Beifong voiced by Steven Yuen, Yuji is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, and Moe is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
