1 The Chronicles of the Fae

Once upon a time, before the Kingdom of Kilanta ruled mightily over all the North Mountains, and the verdant valleys, and the cavernous rivers and streams, a different people roamed Kilanta's meadows and claimed it their own.

The Fae, or faeries as some are apt to call them, governed over the Mountains for many years. They were hunters, foragers, and caretakers of the forests. They slept under the stars and played among the flowers.

But more than this, they were magical. Paper white skin and long white hair, the faeries easily stood out. But it was their magical aura that really caught the eye.

It is said they commanded great power. They could do almost anything they wished, with little to no effort. The winds, waters, even the animals obeyed them. They were masters of their land.

When the first Kilantans began to settle on the plains, the faeries hid away. Though the Kilantans attempted to approach them and share the lands, the faeries refused contact with the newcomers. More and more, the faeries receded into the vast wilderness, away from the new people. And more and more, the Kilantans took it upon themselves to become caretakers of the newly deserted lands.

In these present times, fae sightings are extremely rare. Many suspect the magical race has ceased to exist. Others argue they never existed at all. But there are stories from those lucky few who have encountered these unique beings. Some of those stories have been recorded in this book in order to offer as much knowledge and truth about faeries to anyone curious about them.

There is much unknown about the faeries, but one little truth that is the center of each of these stories: if you ever encounter a fae, you must catch them. It is faery law that in order to be set free again, they must grant their captor a wish…
