Choosing

I step outside my cabin at 8 o'clock on the dot. I found Maya waiting for me outside with two girls I didn't know, River, and the girl I had seen when Kim was claimed. River waved to me and nudged Maya slightly

"May." said Maya " I would like to introduce you to Zoe" she gestured to the taller of the two girls "and Nico" She gestured to the shorter girl who had a kind of gothic vibe "You know River. And this is Penelope who I believe you've met."

I waved politely to them all and then said "I was sent on a quest by Artemis to find her hunters and bring them back. Preferably alive. Tell me your strengths and weaknesses so I can determine which of you should accompany me. Starting with Zoe."

Zoe looked up and said "My name's Zoe. I'm a child of Ares so I'm good in battles. My only weakness is I don't like heights."

Everyone turned to Nico who said "I'm a child of Hades. I can summon the dead, conjure gold out of thin air, and I can sense when someone is dead so there are no surprises."

"And your weaknesses?" I asked,

"I have no weaknesses."

"Okay then. River?"

"I'm River. Daughter of Poseidon. I can manipulate water and can also breathe underwater. My weakness is I have Nomophobia."

"And that is?"

"Fear of being without my phone"

I nodded understanding then turned towards Penelope.

"I'm Penelope. Daughter of Aphrodite. I can charm speak people into doing what I want but I have to check myself in the mirror regularly to make sure I look fine."

"Thank you, everyone." I said then thought deeply for a moment "I think I would like to bring Nico and River if they're up to it." River nodded enthusiastically and Nico just shrugged so I took that as a yes "alright then we'll start out in the morning. Goodnight."

Everyone walked away and I was headed back inside when I felt someone tap my shoulder I turned around and saw Maya

"You'll do great," she said

I nodded and headed inside. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit my pillow.
