A RARE DIAMOND

KYRA

Kyra woke up to the bright side of the day, eyes burned, while attempting to open them. She quickly shut them up, for the lights was blinding

She tried again, this time, it seemed blurry, she made to adjust her iris to the light this time.

When the environment became sharp, she tensed upon seeing herself in a strange room

The pungent smell of potions and herbs made her nose twitch, which retracted in a sneeze.

Suddenly, a woman came into the room, looking a bit old with lines across the corners of her eyes and forehead.

Looking closely at the elder lady's green eyes, its no lie, the lady must have been gorgeous at her younger prime.

"Finally, you are awake". The lady smiled brightly to expose two perfect dips on both sides of her cheeks.

"Who are you and why am I here?"

You belong here child, my name is Alaina, and your name is Kyra.

Kyra attempted to remember, but her head banged, sending waves of pains sharply down her brain, which made herlay back on the bed.

"Don't stress your head about anything". She looked at the lady, perplexed as to why she was in this state.

"Why can't I remember anything?". She asked the lady anxiously.

"Because you encountered an accident that made you this way".

Kyra still tries to remember what had happened to her to make her lose her memories, but the headache came back in full force.

"Patience, Kyra, your memories will return when the time is right".

She listened to the witch and stopped attempting to remember anything.

"How long have I been out?". She asked curiously.

"You mean, how long you've been asleep for?".

, What, was I sleeping all these while?". She asked herself.

"You've been asleep for a year now, My Princess".

"A year. Why that long?".

"As I've said, you encountered an accident."

"Try not to think about anything, I will tell you what happened when you are fully healed".

The lady left the room to Kyra, who looked around, setting out to find out anything that could lead to her regaining her memory

Just then, a man walked in, his eyes sparkled upon seeing her, and not old as the woman she talked to earlier.

"Glad to see you are awake, Your Highness".

He called her.

Kyra just stared at him, confused.

"Forgive my manners, Princess, my name's Roderick I'm a loyal servant of your…., I mean I'm a loyal servant of Alaina".

He lied nervously.

Kyra could not help but wonder why he was getting confused for no reason.

She nodded her head and smiled at him, politely.

RODERICK

He left the room after seeing Kyra was okay. He met witch Alaina outside the cottage making some tonic potions.

"She will get suspicious at this rate, Roderick". The witch added, without making eye contact, as she continued grinding the herbs.

"Maybe we should feed her more of the memory potions?".

"I'm already preparing some, but I don't know how long it will work on her".

The witch sighed.

Roderick had to keep Princess Jess's last wish, no matter what happens.

He was unable to save her, despite he knew her time was close.

FLASHBACK

She had told him before they left for the battle about what witch Alaina told her about leaving the world soon, for it was her fate.

She did not have a long destiny like her daughter Kyra.

He had told her he would protect Kyra, no matter what happens, but at the end, there was nothing much he could do.

When Jess died, he saw how Kyra lost control. The witch had already predicted what would happen and asked them to summon her with a summoning spell she had given to Jess.

Jess gave him the spell to summon the witch in case she couldn't do it before her time elapsed

Seeing how feral Kyra became after the death of her mother, he knew this was what the witch had talked about, so he summoned her with the spell immediately.

Witch Alaina took Kyra with her through teleportation, which ended with thunderstorms.

Roderick immediately left his spot, with his bleeding arms, to search for Jess, but he only found her ashes on the floor with the weapon Arthur used in stabbing her.

He screamed loudly in pain, he killed every surviving vampire, as he searched for Arthur, but Arthur and his son had escaped.

The werewolves, who came to the rescue, also began searching for Alpha King Lewis.

Roderick searched for Alpha Griffin, only to find him passed out on the floor.

He heard werewolves hardly survive the death of their mate, seeing Alpha Griffin in that situation made him realize that he must have been pained by the death of his mate that he passed out.

He finally met Alpha king Lewis, who searched for Kyra like he had gone mad, but he couldn't bring himself to tell anyone about Kyra's existence.

He's going to protect her with his last breath, for he can't live through three generations without protecting those he had sworn to protect.

The king Alpha asked him about the whereabouts of Kyra, but he denied the fact that he knew where she was.

Whether they liked it or not, Kyra is royalty, she has much responsibility to her kingdom, and he won't let her end up like her mother.

He watched as the werewolves took Alpha Griffin back to the werewolf kingdom.

Roderick knew the battle had only just begun, and for that, he planned to lead Kyra in training for her to become the next queen, as was said by princess Jess.

He never went back to the palace, knowing Arthur must have gone to the palace. Considering the fact that he has subjects who are loyal to the cause, the possibility of him becoming King was factual.

Going back to the palace was suicide.

After some months, he heard king Arthur had taken over the throne. The news didn't surprise him, since he knew it was bound to happen.

Though, he still had loyal men among the soldiers, keeping watch at the castle and bringing him news about the king's latest plan and activities.

He wandered through the vampire world, with no particular destination. Furthermore, he visited Kyra from time to time.

Witch Alaina had told him that the best way to keep Kyra from seeking revenge was to wipe out her memories before she wakes up.

He saw reasons with her and agreed, knowing how hard-headed Kyra could be. Matter of fact, she wouldn't hesitate to seek revenge for her mother.

He can't let that happen now. She had to be trained on how to use her growing powers, and witch Alaina was just the perfect match for the task.

Now that Kyra was finally awake, she became very curious about her life in the past, if she had parents or not, if she was a vampire or a werewolf.

In all this, witch Alaina only told her about the death of parents, which she claimed was long ago.

This made Kyra sad for days, for the fact that she had no memories of her parents.

Alaina continued to feed Kyra the memory potion, so she won't get a relapse of her memories.

She knew how hard it took for her to knock her out.

Being a hybrid between two powerful races made Kyra undefeatable.

Witch Alaina had foreseen more chaos ahead, which Kyra will have to face.

Kyra needs to be bonded with her other half in other to control her growing powers.

For she will become destructive without the other, time coming.

What happened the day her mother died was just a beginning of what is to come.

Alaina needs to let Roderick know about this, so they could start searching for the other marked one.

They have been getting the news about how brutal Arthur had become ever since he became king. He invades the werewolves kingdom more often, thereby causing a greater enmity between the vampires and werewolves.

He killed just anyone who opposed him at court, not minding that they were the same subjects who supported him when in taking over as King.

Not only that, but he had built an empire of warriors he sent to battle every now and then.

Kyra must not hear of this. Witch Alaina and Roderick endeavored to hide the news about Arthur becoming king, from Kyra in other not to trigger her memory.

She became restricted from going to town so not to encounter someone who might recognize her.

Kyra was very inquisitive, and so they watched out for her.

Later on, Kyra made potions using herbs, with the assistance of witch Alaina. Strangely, Kyra learned how to make these in just a few days. Only a destined witch could learn the things Kyra learned easily.

Alaina knew Kyra had the traits of a witch, and for that reason, Kyra needed to be hidden away from the power hungry beings who might seek to exploit her powers since it was unmeasurable.

As the days went by, Alaina saw the striking resemblance of Kyra and her sister who died at childbirth, unfortunately.

She never had imagined Kyra would inherit their witch's powers.

Indeed, Kyra is a rare diamond and also the first of her kind, who must be well protected.
