7 7. The first examination (1)

2 weeks later, the day of the first examination

Robert sat along with many others in the class, while reviewing his notes.

It was early in the morning at 8 am, all the freshmen were supposed to gather in the examination hall at 8.15.

"Cytosaurus, grade E monster, lives in big trees. Looks like a gigantic lizard but has two red horns. Strength: It is very fast, It has very powerful legs and and and ummm....Damn it!" Robert cursed, this was the gazillionth time he had forgotten something.

"I won't be able to get into the S class at this rate." Robert lamented.

"Hmm?" He noticed something that wasn't quite human approaching him.

"Zombie!" He exclaimed and hurried away. The "thing" had pale flesh and inhuman face. It's eyes were blood red and it walked while limping.

"Robert! I'm going to fail." The 'thing' cried.

"Huh wait...that sounds familiar?" Robert thought.

"O-Oliver?" He asked. "What happened to you?"

"I didn't sleep for the last 3 days to study. Robert, hurry and test me before I forget everything." Oliver muttered.

"Alright, what is the models of the spacecrafts that were lost during the great escape to planet Xers." Robert asked.

"GX-1386, SH-567, LM-6710, KKO-5009, HWE-12." Oliver stated.

"Did you eat or sleep at all this past few days?" Robert asked jokingly.

Oliver shook his head. "Nope, I'm not that talented in basic magic, so I can only hope my other grades can propell me to the A class. I can already materialize mana but it can barely last 5 seconds and my control is crude. Not to mention, the shape is sloppy and there is a 20% chance of failure every time I try." Oliver said.

"Cheer up bud. You can definitely make it to the A class." Robert said.

"I wish I was as talented as you. You can already shape your mana. You should definitely aim for the S class." Oliver encouraged.

"I hope so, but I still can't memorize this darned thing." Robert had an urge to throw his beast identification book across the classroom.

"You better make it. Don't lose to that bastard Jamie." Oliver's eyes narrowed when mentioning Jamie.

Aside from Ash, the first to draw out mana from their body was not Robert but Jamie, the professor praised him endlessly and said that he could definitely make it to the S class. That would've been fine by Jamie was not such a jerk, ever since then he constantly bragged and rubbed it on Robert's face. Robert acted like he didn't care but in truth, ever since then he started working even harder.

Dingdong! The bell rang, signaling that they had to go to the Examination hall right now.

"God, please let me pass." Oliver clasped his hand and prayed one last time before setting off with Robert.

The class entered the examination hall. This was the first time, they came here and they couldn't help but we wowed. The building was tall and large, the seats 1 meter apart from each magic but there was still enough space to fit more than 1 thousand people.

When they arrived, all the other freshmen classes were already there. There was over 500 freshmen who enrolled this year.

"Please check your student id, you're seat number is written there." A woman's voice announched.

Robert looked around, but saw no one announcing, it was actually a system.

The student id was actually a wristband given during the first day of school. One tap, and a holographic screen will be projected. You can check for your class, schedules, school map and many other things using the school id.

Robert lighttapped on his student id on his right wrists. A holographic screen popped out.

"Good morning Robert, what would you like do?" The screen said.

There were several options in the screen, Robert selected the one on the upper most line. "Exam."

"You're seat number is 256. First examination is Medicinal herb identification." The text stated. Underneath that was a map of the exam hall as well as his current location.

"My seat number is 256, what about yours?" Robert asked.

"Mine is 504. Well, I guess this is goodbye. Good luck bro." Oliver said.

"You too." Robert said before leaving to find his seat.

He finally found it, it was on the right side of the exam hall. He looked around but did not see any of his classmates only some unfamiliar freshmen.

He took out his pen and put his pencil case beside him and sat on the chair.

"Please wait, not everyone is seated yet. The exam will automatically commence once everyone is seated." A woman's voice said.

Robert looked around but apparently only he could here it.

Around 3 minutes later.

"Everyone is seated. The exam will begin."

"Student name: Robert Hasterfiled

Class: 1-3

Grade: freshmen

Exam: medicinal herbs identification." The female voice said.

"Scanning for contraband." Pause "clear."

Suddenly, a mechanical hand appeared from beside the table and handed Robert his paper.

"Thanks." Robert muttered.

"You may begin." The woman said.

Timer : 1:00:00

The student id flashed.

Robert looked around, the seats were all empty, in fact the entire exam hall was empty.

"An illusion wall huh...whatever I'll just do my exam." He flipped the paper.

"Name the 5 characteristics of a Nymphadorus Flora." The first question stated.

Robert's heart jolted. "It's fine, I can do this." He said to himself and quickly scribbled down the answer in case he forgot.

Very soon Robert answered half the paper.

"Question 20: If a person was poisoned by a Leaflet Purple frog, what are the medicinal herbs needed for first aid?"

"Sh*t." Robert cursed. He did not even know what a leaflet purple frog was, how would he know it's cure?

"Let's just skip." He said.
