14 Like a Snake!

Jimmy was still running at the pace of Belva and the other Succubi chasing Kaylan. The entire ordeal of catching the thief had the man jumping over the rooftops as if the floor was a dangerous set of harmful material.

Maybe it was, in his mind. Follow the leader, he thought of Kaylan, then caught him.

Jimmy felt his eyes shot open, shooting himself forward and passing Belva.

"The abilities have kicked in!" Belva spoke to Zaniva in telepathy.

"Good." Zaniva spoke as she began to slow down her pace. Her figure came into Jimmy's view as he continued to run forward, passing Velyn. "Let him deal with Kaylan."

"Are you sure he can control this?"

"Certain Belva, dear." Zaniva replied, her tone was enthusiastic and relaxing. "If we had to use our own abilities, we would have to come up with detailed lies in order to convince the people we are as normal as they are when it comes to magic."

"Ah yes, the 'I have obtained magic through learning' attribute.'

"Precisely. Gilvenheim has changed drastically over the last few years, the Kingdoms, although varying in their differences, have come in unison when it comes to going against any form of demonic influence, succubi being no exceptions.'

Zaniva and Belva soon caught up with Velyn. The trio of succubi soon were still jumping over the gaps of rooftops, some were considerably higher than others, enough to break one's leg perhaps if the force of gravity truly brought a human down.

They weren't human, only their shells were.

"Back off!" Kaylan screamed at the top of his lungs as he turned and directed the palm of his hand toward Sillis and Jimmy. A medium sized ball of fire went out of his palm, as the succubi and Jimmy himself pushed themselves towards opposite sides, avoiding the fireball.

"Magic user." Jimmy spoke.

"Woo!" Sillis said in a joyful tone as she dodged another shot from Kaylan's palm. The thief was flabbergasted at the sight. How was it that this girl was chasing him and avoiding his attacks? That thought shot through his brain like an arrow.

"If words or magic won't convince you to back off then I don't know what will!" Kaylan said as he reached the edge of one particular building, before he took a sharp left turn and jumped over it.

It was a few feet above from the ground level, he dived head first, followed by Sillis. Jimmy was still catching up to the target, eventually stopping at the edge to see Sillis landing in a giant pile of hay.

"Come on Jimmy!" Sillis said as she stuck her head out of the hay and proceeded to swiftly chase Kaylan. "Jump down! Like a snake!"

Snakes don't jump, Jimmy pondered that thought for a couple of seconds, or do they?

He took a couple of steps back, ready to go through the leap of faith. His eyes widened as he felt a force bumping into him.

"Eeek!" Belva screamed in shock upon tripping onto the surface of the roof she was currently on, the force of the crash sending her and Jimmy downward and heading down the pile of hay.

Velyn and Zaniva jumped off the edge, landing on their feet gracefully as the two turned back towards the pile of hay, and crooked smiles appeared on their faces as Jimmy came out, carrying Belva in her arms.

The people around them laughed at the spectacle, girls were whispering toward each other about the two, but then came odd looks from various men and boys.

"Look at that woman in his arms. Lucky man."

"Forget the lady with him, look at his eyes! They're very odd."

"A result of magical abilities perhaps?" one person spoke, it brought calm for Jimmy. "I heard people who learn certain types of magic get certain side effects to their body."

Good, Jimmy thought as he looked around the environment, the less people think I'm a Cerrit, the better off I am.

"Jimmy." Belva said, red hues appearing on her face again, and trying not to look upward to Jimmy's clean snake like face.

"Yesssh?" Jimmy unexpectedly spoke, his fork tongue immediately sticking out of his mouth, before his mouth controlled it and shoved the tongue back in. He looked back again at the people, their eyes weren't entirely focused on him.

He had to move sooner or later.

"Could. You. Put. Me. Down." Belva said in a firm slow tone. Jimmy turned to see the large red hue covering her entire face of a human disguise. He took seconds looking at her, understanding the situation.

"Have you not been in this kind of position before?" he asked as she pouted in anger, before he turned to see Zaniva and Velyn's chuckles. "When you had to seduce a man." he said that in a chuckling whisper.

Her mouth continued to have that pout like expression. Jimmy rolled his eyes, before he gently placed her back onto her feet, straight away.

"Sillis is still chasing Kaylan, I believe they want that way." Zaniva pointed to the northwest of town.

By the time Jimmy had left the scene, she approached Belva. "If I recall correctly, you borrowed a book from the last time you seduced a human and read it in Hell, something about a woman being carried in the arms of a strong, handsome man-"

"Can you not?" Belva hissed and clenched her own cheeks as Velyn snickered at the entire sight. "Let's just get back to catching that thief!"
