9 Chapter 8: Challenge

I restlessly rapped my knuckles on my lap, gritting my teeth, and scratching my neck.

Hrydib raised his hand and asked another question, "Ma'am! How does a powerful Light Power User use photons to push something or someone away?"

"That's a good question, Hrydib." The teacher whom I didn't bother to know her name answered, "You see, photons contain a very tiny amount of mass..."

She continued explaining this useless knowledge to Hrydib.

The entire class groaned in frustration and boredom.

Urgh... why did I have something in common with these peons?

I wish I could just leave. I wish I didn't have to attend class...

...

No, my true wish is that I could teach this new guy a lesson.

I hated him.

I despised him.

He is so annoying. So frustrating.

One day, he come out of no where. Takes all of John's attention, and suddenly become his student. He has no fear of me, nor any respect. Just lounges on MY sofa, and acts like the whole place is his.

If John didn't tell me not to hurt him, I would have pummeled his face into the ground.

Why does life have to be so unfair?

I need to vent my rage on something—

BOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was an explosion outside the classroom.

"Where's Daniel Rainer?!?!" A thunderous yell resounded through the whole school.

Why, how convenient.

I was about to get off my seat.

When...

The walls of my classroom came crashing down.

A heroic student with a strong Strength Power immediately rushed towards the students who were going to be crushed by the damaged wall and tackled them all away before they got hurt.

But unfortunately, whist he saved them, he himself was crushed by the fallen wall.

"Joseph!" I heard a girl shout the name of whoever that was.

But I wasn't focused on them.

The large hunk of flesh and metal came walking in. The thing, which I assumed was supposed to be a person, stomped over in large robotic legs, and raised a metallic arm, layered with steel plates and iron wires that sparked with electricity, at me.

"Are you Daniel Rainer? Leader Of Sector 14?!" It yelled.

My whole class was frightened by the loud, booming voice, and was frozen solid.

I shrugged, "Maybe."

"I'm Hector! Leader of State 7 of Sector 13, the Sector of MACHINES, And I've come to beat you!!!" It yelled in the most cliché way possible, then charged at me with raging eyes.

I analyzed its momentum and speed, strength and height.

It was definitely a 'cyborg'. (I put quotation marks because he looked more like a messed-up hybrid of a computer and a whale.) Cyborgs are quite rare in most areas, since we have awesome Powers, and also discovered cheap treatments to fix injuries as severe as losing an entire limb. Which would mean that whoever this cyborg was before it become a cyborg was probably Powerless, and it either voluntarily became a cyborg, or was kidnapped and became a guinea pig in some messed-up experiment. I'm gonna go with the latter as no one would voluntarily look like whatever it is. Experimental cyborgs were not really powerful because they were, well, experimental. But if this thing was a Leader Of State, that would mean that it was powerful as heck. Cyborgs have two main abilities that make it powerful, and it could be classified in these categories: Strength and Projectile.

Strength is the same as the Strength Power: How fast it could go. How strong it is. How quick is its reaction time.

Projectile is the ability, range and power of certain projectiles or ammunition that it could shoot. One of them are the classic bullet or arrow, and another are non-solid projectiles like Laser beams, or even force rays.

Looking at this cyborg, it was definitely a Strength base type, and could potentially break down—

PSSHSHHSHSHHHHH!!!!!

"Huh?" I raised an eyebrow.

"WHAT?!?" The cyborg screamed.

"Hey mate..." Hrydib suddenly appeared in front of both of us. Hands in hoodie pockets. Facing away from me. "Interrupting my class was uncool—"

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!!?!!" The cyborg demanded, raising one of his mechanical fists, and lowered it downwards. "DIEEE!!"

"Hey!" I extended a hand, "Wa—"

BANNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!

"Hu-HUH?!?" The cyborg widened its eyes in shock, "H-Ho—"

Its arm crashed down on Hrydib, but he simply tilted his head to the left, and let it hit his shoulder.

It didn't do any damage. He didn't even react to it.

I blinked.

"Can you please..." Hrydib placed a hand on the cyborg's chest, "Stop being so damn cliché."

...

...

...

...

...

...

I didn't even notice that the cyborg was gone...

...

...

...

Until I realized that there was a gigantic hole in the side of the school.

--

"You stole my kill!" I yelled at Hrydib.

"I don't know what you're talking about?" He tilted his head innocently.

"Oh come on!! Can you just stop acting so childish already!?!"

"But I like acting."

School was cut short that day. For various reasons.

So now we're just waiting for John to pick us up early.

I buried my face in my hands in frustration. I couldn't believe that he just defeated what was supposed to be MY opponent, right in my face, and is still acting so immature!

I swear, that I would one day cause a hole as big as the one he created, but with his body instead of the cyborg.

"You know what?" I glared at him, "Just shut up!"

"Make me."

Uggghh.... this is so annoying.

I want to punch him so ba—

When suddenly, I had an idea. An idea that would allow me pent out my frustration on him, and make him be more respectful around me.

"Alright then." I clenched my fists.

"Hm?"

"You want me to make you shut up? Alright." I said to him, "I challenge you to a friendly duel inside the Simulation Room."

--

"So... what happened to it?" The piercing voice penetrated the cyborg's sound box.

It nearly short-circuited in fear. "I... It—"

"Answer me!" The man slammed his fist into its shoulder.

It screamed in pain, "RedOen was defeated!"

"Oh? The great RedOen? Defeated?"

"Y-Yes..." The cyborg stammered.

"Hmm... So that Daniel was even more powerful than expected..."

"It wasn't Daniel who defeated it."

"What?!" The man turned, "Then who?"

"Apparently another one of John's students..."

The man faced away once again, "Hmm... interesting..." He grinned maliciously, "Genusic, you're the new Leader Of State 7..."

"W-What—"

"Take care of the entire Sector too, just for a while..." He pressed a button, and mechanical shutter suddenly opened, spilling light into the room.

That light revealed a true cyborg, a being of half-human, half robot physicality.

RosaCon, the master of machines, stepped into the sun and faced the boundaries of his Sector. "I'll go visit that John and his students... personally."
