17 ch 9 (immortal) the coronation

me - close a gate of abyss. I asked you not to ask something impossible for me to do. I think the lord of contracts is becoming senile nowadays or does he think that I can do something impossible. your best bet would be to open the door behind you and the end result of that would be your death anyway, what's is your name kid, or you can't Tell?

the kid - just call me phantom snow for now, anyway it is not impossible. this gate is already on the brink of collapse. slightly more damage and the entire thing will collapse.

me - so that is the reason that the totems are entering a frenzy. they sense the aura of the abyss gate.

phantom snow - that I don't know, but the gate must be destroyed now. the slave traders have figured out a way to repair it.

me - well, why the hell must all of this happen to me only. I wanted to relax for some time in this place. okay, before all of that, you have to help me. It is my part of the contract. you have to protect me when I am ascending.

phantom snow - but you had not written anything on the paper.

me - kid, you are really a fool aren't you?. a contract has two sides, you give me something and I give you something. since I am the creator of the contract sheet, I can directly use my mana to write the conditions. they are invisible

phantom snow - I know, it was just that. I could not think at that moment. looking at you was like looking at a dragon. I barely registered anything you said. I just did whatever you told me to. anyway what do you mean by ascending?

I had to be careful of this kid. dragons were pretty dangerous and naturally arrogant. they hated letting weaklings survive in front of them. only someone with sufficient strength could force a dragon to leave a weakling. the weakest dragon was at least the eighth class and as for the strongest, they were capable of reaching the ex-emperor level. the dragons were a species with more stronger beings then weaker.

thank God that I didn't try to exploit that kid. having an ex-emperor level figure chase after me was a scary thought. the kid was a smart one. trying to intimidate me by using dragons.

me - don't worry about that, you won't be doing anything. I just did not what any random variables in my ascension. if you try to attack me during the ascension. your heart will be ripped out the moment you have that thought.

by the way, next time ask the creator of the contract sheet to reveal the content on the sheet. if they don't the sheet loses its magic.

it doesn't matter how much you trust the other party. if you don't ask, naturally no such thing will happen.

after saying that I quickly opened the door behind me. I could not open it directly or the rune I had would get interrupted. If that happens well, having an ex-emperor chase after you was a scary business. I did plan to reveal myself today, but not before I made my move. first I would make a hole in the concealing rune, moving away all the mana present on the door. that would weaken the magic slightly, but after closing the door, I can repair the rune. making it as good as new.

( I really should explain magic. it is a fascinating topic if you were to understand it. not now though .)

I am a fool, because before leaving for the entire bull dragon thing, I had forgotten to place the book in the painting. in my defence, I had gotten up late that day making preparations for my coronation. that damn fool thunder lord was almost about to open my door to inform me. thankfully he tripped a couple of alarms that we're placed on the door, waking me up.

naturally, I had to hurry up and join phentim and phantom knife to leave in a few minutes. in my hurried packing, I forgot to put the book in the painting. by the time I remembered about the book, we were already on the way to the black fang tribe members.

thankfully nobody disrupted the rune. otherwise, I would be in big trouble. I won't need to worry about it in a couple of hours. entering the room the kid in front of me began to stare at the throne, he seemed to recognise what It was. I really had to be wary of this kid, not many people recognise the throne of a king, after all.

I did not bother explaining anything to the kid, it was kind of pointless. he could not help me in any way.

I quickly took the book that I had placed on the last remnants of the room, a chair of that stone that I borrowed from the room opposite me.

taking the book I quickly place it on the throne. the book gets fused into the throne. well, that book was going to stay there for some time.

me - kid, stay near the door for some time. no matter what happens, don't you dare to open then door, the moment you do so your heart will be ripped out.

phantom snow - yes, I understand.

I sat on the throne, feeling the similar surge of magical energy that I had almost forgotten. the world around me seemed to collapse and merge together into a single colour, black.

me - under the decree of kings, I have come to take my place among the council. under the rule of the king let there be no darkness.

my glowing throne began to shine brighter and brighter. the darkness began to fade. now the most troublesome part should start. he will be coming after all.

me - gods don't belong here, god of darkness. if you dare to try and cover the council with your darkness, the council shall not agree anymore.

voice - you and which council, mortal. what do you think you can do by your lonesome?. you are not even a part of the council. though I think I know you, you smell familiar.

me - I can do plenty, do you think that I would dare to challenge you like a fool, If I did not have any means.

just be distracted a bit longer, don't notice me now, please. yes, now for the endgame.

me - thank you for talking, god of darkness. too bad that it was not a long chat.

saying that I quickly released every single iota of energy that I gathered in a single blast of energy. with this all the mana reserves of the book became empty, well I would soon have another source. the darkness around me finally cleared as I finally managed to see the council in all its glory. thankfully the brightness of the place was dim, so I could see everything in all its glory.

the council of kings was one of the most famous relics of the eldest. too bad that I don't have the time to explain all about it. that god would return any second, after all.

In front of me were thousands of thrones, each belonging to a king of ancient times.

I was also sitting on such a throne. I quickly got down, running through the thrones, some of which were ornate, others simple, but all of them had a feeling of importance.

finally, after running for what seemed to be an eternity I reached the center of the thrones which was completely empty.

once I reached over there, I quickly began to draw a rune on the ground. this time I did not need to use my blood. to be honest it would not be enough too, for the kind of magic I wanted to do.

I was using the mana that gathered in the council in the thousands of years that it existed. thankfully the lord of darkness did not attempt to use this mana.

the rune was gigantic, it would take me quite a well to draw. the darkness will take some time to return here, because if this got screwed up, while I would survive, I would become pretty weak. that's why I did not want to use it so quickly.

( after that I kept drawing, for how long not even I remember, but it was a long time. rune was meant to have microscopic runes covering a region with a diameter of one kilometer. the runes might have been easy to make but the sheer quantity I had to make was overwhelming me. but I persevered on. the god of darkness could be barely considered to be an eighth class being. while I was still barely a fourth class, but brute force was not everything in this world. )

( after a while)

the rune was almost completely made, it only lacked ten runes. all of which would take, I think fifteen seconds to make. but the darkness was returning, very quickly.

it was a wall of darkness eating everything.it looks like I will be some time in the darkness. this time without a shield to protect me. I kept moving my arm, ignoring the darkness, drawing the runes needed.

by the time that the darkness covered me, I completed nine of the runes. the darkness was like a poisonous bog, it's poison attempting to dissolve me. my skin was sizzling. while I could regenerate my flesh, it was not really as powerful as it seemed.

ignoring the pain( I have been through much more painful encounters. )I kept drawing the runes.moving was very hard almost like moving my hand through the molten iron. I could move it but it would take time, which I did not have

God of darkness - stop mortal, you don't know what you are doing. the last time that the power of kings was released to the world, their infighting managed to almost destroy the world.

me - you really need to remember the faces of your enemy, god of darkness. well to be honest I never did really show you my face.

the darkness around me loosened for a second, clearly, he was shocked.

God of darkness - immortal, you dare to come in my presence, after all, you have done.

me - my dear enemy, I have told you so many times to not speak so much. buying time with you is so easy. you really should not speak so much, see how your enemy has exploited it.

I had completed the rune in the instant that the god of darkness was shocked. the runes has begun to shine on the ground.

the instant that the formation began to shine, I felt a pulling force on me. the darkness could not hold me as I was pulled towards my throne.

the instant that I sat on it, I ended up in the familiar room in front of me. blood was flowing from the many cuts on the body. the darkness had managed to hurt my real body, that bastard was seriously getting more skilled with his powers.

these wounds would heal, I had more things to worry about.

me - kid, open the door, can you?

the runes in the room needed to be broken now. otherwise without their help, today I will die. what I wanted do need the third emperor and his surveillance.

while I could not see it, I could say with certainty that the sky was filled with meteors.

those would be the thrones that I had seen in council. The runes were kind of like a self destruct button for the council, returning the thrones to their old position, among the people.

right I could not leave my position because I had other things to worry about. after all one of those meteors was about to head my way.

if the ex-emperor do not react, I would be seriously injured, which would be hard to heal even with my regeneration.

thankfully those guys did not need to like me to help me. they were the kind of guys who would save their enemy for the throne and reputation it held. nothing would ruin the reputation of the throne more than them not being able to protect their young, after all.
