23 RIN: A Happily- Ever- After

"Baka, what were you thinking? How can you think of doing such a thing?" The pained face of the king of Selene greeted her when she finally opened her eyes.

"What do you mean? I don't seem to understand what I did wrong this time?" Maru asked with a shaky voice, afraid to hear his condemnation from what may be another misunderstanding.

"Maru," his strong arms caged her as his voice broke. "How can you doubt the love I have for you? I love you beyond the power of spells and witchcraft. I love you beyond anything you can ever imagine."

She broke into tears the moment she heard him say those words. She knew then... he was back. He remembered.

"I am sorry, I am sorry for trying to leave you behind. I am sorry for trying to let go of us. I will never do such a thing again." She cried into his arms as her body shook from the forceful sobs that escaped her lips.

"Then, if you are truly sorry," he caressed her cheek and said, "you should make amends."
