1 Meeting God.....or gods

"What? Where am I?" A boy asked, seemingly to himself as he drifts through a void of nothingness. He couldn't see, taste, touch, or smell anything. He could still hear but there wasn't much to hear, only his own voice as he asked his questions.

After taking a few breaths and calming down from the shock he starts to try to remember everything that led up to this point.

"My name.....my name is Harmon....Harmon Grace." He told himself as he began to recount the horrifying events in his head.....

"I'm 14 years old and in my first year of high school. I had just arrived at school when a strange voice sounded from the intercom telling the school to meet in the gymnasium. When we all came to the gymnasium a group of armed men blocked the exit and told us to sit down on the bleachers. We did what they said, tears streaming down the faces of most of the kids. I then saw a group of kids jump from the bleachers and run towards the exit. I would've said it was brave if it wasn't so stupid. The kids were shot dead before they got within a 5 foot distance of the exit. The kids in the bleachers started to scream and cry at the sounds of the gunshots, the smell of blood and death began to stink in the room. The men snickered and laughed at the screaming kids. One of them who seemed like the leader told the kids to shut up and pointed a gun at them. They immediately fell quiet, their cries muffled by their hands. Aubrey, my best friend who couldn't stop her crying started having a panic attack. She started spasming and convulsing as she fell onto the floor. The leader of the group of terrorists pointed his gun at her, preparing to shoot her. I didn't know what I was thinking but I quickly jumped out of the bleachers and got between her and the gun right before it fired. The bullets flew towards me, faster than my eyes could follow. All I remember is the feeling of being pierced over and over again by the bullets as they shot through my body. As I fell to the ground I remember seeing my best friend already on the ground with bullet holes in her body, blood dripping from her wounds and mouth. The bullets had shot through me and pierced her body. I struggled with all my might, mustering the last bit of my strength to crawl over to her. I laid on top of her nearly-dead body and for the first time in years, cried into her shoulder as we slowly died together."

The recounting of events concluded as Harmon let out a depressing sigh.

"So I guess I'm dead. Is this hell?" He asked himself as he looks into the emptiness.

He remembered a quote that his teacher had told him as he stared into the void.

"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee." He said to himself. He knew that if he did nothing he would surely go mad and if this wasn't hell he would make it one for himself. Harmon started brainstorming things to do. He didn't have any of his senses except for hearing so he was very limited. He decided to just sit there in the quietness and clear his mind. He pushed all his emotions, his hate, fear, love, joy and all of the like into the back of his head. He sat like that for a long, long time as time marched onward outside of the void. Hundreds of what used to be years passed and Harmon never moved, completely unaware of the passing of time. He sat there with such patience and will that it would put the pope to shame.

Through his time in meditation he understood things that mortals couldn't even fathom. He understood the coming and passing of life and how fleeting it is. He understood the inter-complexities of creation and of the nature of destruction. He then felt a single strand of energy take form in the fathom of his being, screaming to be fed and nourished. Harmon was awestruck at the sudden strand of energy that he felt. He didn't know how to feed it so he just kept meditating. That was when something amazing happened. Energy from the void poured into his soul, nourishing the strand of energy until it reached its maximum capacity. The string writhed in excitement as it welcomed the energy into itself, devouring it all until it evolved into a coiling serpent with white scales and crimson red eyes. That was when Harmon felt an enormous burst of energy and an incredibly gorgeous couple appeared in front of him.

"Salutations, mortal. My name is Raico though, I think you might know me better as God. This my wife, El." The man calling himself Raico says as he steps out from a column of light.

"Congratulations on passing your trials." El says with a glamorous smile. Her smile was intoxicating. If she was on Earth, men would wage wars to see even a sliver of her smile.

Harmon looked at them with the greatest look of confusion that he had shown in centuries. His face had stayed in the same somber expression for all those years that it hurt to move his facial muscles.

"What do you mean trials?" He asks the two gods before him.

"Exactly that." (Raico)

"Your soul has evolved into the embodiment of your nature. We call these creatures Soul Beasts. It will change with you and slowly grow stronger alongside you." Said Raico as he grabbed Harmon's arm and pulled him to his feet.

"You have now earned the right to reincarnation. Along with your reincarnation to a world of your choosing we will also grant you three wishes." (El)

"Why would you do this?" (Harmon)

"Because I lost a bet to my wife." Said Raico matter of factly.

"Tell us your desired destination and your wishes, child." (El)

Harmon sat there and pondered what he should ask for. He sat there for a good hour, contemplating. All the while the couple of gods stood their patiently, without talking or moving.

"I've decided."

"Tell us." Raiko said, picking up the conversation as if they had only stopped a few seconds ago.

"I wish to be reincarnated into a world of magic and adventure. A world of perilous dangers and untapped knowledge." Said Harmon with a glimmer in his eyes.

"And for your three wishes, dear?" (El)

"For my first wish, I wish to be born half vampire and half faerie, born to the noblest of the two families. My second wish is to have unlimited potential in every field of magic and combat as well as have a huge mana pool to begin with. And my third and final wish is to be a master of spacial magic, this includes being able to create entirely new pocket dimensions and to have control over everything in that dimension.

"Very well. It shall be done. When you're ready to leave just go to sleep and you'll wake up in your new world." (Raiko)

"Also, a baby born half vampire and half faerie is impossible to conceive under normal circumstances. We can still do it but just be warned." (El)

"I understand." (Harmon)

The gods then disappeared into a column of light. Harmon continued to mediate for a few more hours before he finally laid down in the void and gave in to his sleep.
