1 The Magic Pumpkin

Once upon a time, there was an old woman. She lived in the jungle in a small hut. Her daughter lived in the city which was on the other side of the jungle. The old woman really missed her daughter very much. One day she decided to visit her. She packed her bag and started her journey. On her way, she met a tiger. The tiger was very hungry and said ''Hey old lady, where are you going?" The old lady said "I am going to my daughter's place which is on the other side of the jungle. " The tiger said, "Go no more, I am going to eat you all up!" The woman got scared and begged the tiger to leave her and said " Dear tiger, I am going to my daughter. She will feed me and pink and plum." The old woman promised to back within four days. The tiger let her go and warned her to be back within four days. She was just about to reach the city when she met a wolf. The wolf said, "Hey old lady, where are you going?" The old lady said, "I am going to my daughter's place which is on the other side of the jungle." The wolf said, "Go no more. I'm going to eat you all up!" The old lady was frightened and begged the wolf to let her go and promised the wolf that she would return within 4 days. The wolf let her go and warned her to return. The old lady finally reached her daughter's home. The four days went by. The old lady was pink and plum. She knew that the wolf and the tiger were waiting for her. It was the last day of her life. Tears ran down her eyes. She narrated the incident to her daughter. The daughter was intelligent and brought her a big pumpkin. She carved the pumpkin in such a way that the old woman could sit in it. The old woman trusted her daughter and left for home. She nearly entered the jungle, the wolf was waiting for the old lady. The wolf asked the coach if he had seen the old lady. The old lady, disguised as a pumpkin coach replied in a grumpy voice "Which lady? I haven't seen any old lady." and by saying this the Pumpkin coach ran away. The wolf thought it to be suspicious and followed the coach. Soon the old lady, still disguised as the pumpkin coach met the tiger. She replied the same, but the tiger recognized her and snatched her pumpkin coach. Her disguise was revealed. Now she had no option but to agree, but the old woman was very witty and thought of an idea. The tiger and the wolf were ready to have their lunch when the old woman said "It's no fun to be eaten raw, I would taste even better if I am roasted." The tiger and the wolf agreed and prepared a fire. Before they could roast the old lady, the old lady said "before cooking me it's better to say the prayer." As soon the tiger and the wolf closed their eyes, the old woman fled off and said "You fools, the animals don't have any prayer!"

So, the wit of the old lady saved her life.
