19 Family (1)

Hearing that his ki color was completely unique, Nathan was surprised. He did not expect to such a unique fate. He already knew that it was most likely tied to his Esper heritage.

"So I have the talent to be a great mystic then?"

Nathan asked with puzzlement in his eyes.

"Hmm"

His mother said. To say he had the talent to be a great mystic was an understatement. The number of individuals with talent comparable to him could be counted on one hand.

Natalie had to not worry about his talent anymore because she had something else to discuss with him. They could speak about him and his ki training later.

"Let's not discuss this for now. I need to tell you about the djinn as a race and my family as well as their background. I will compare our race to humans since they are the most numerous and most likely to meet if you leave the country.

Djinn are beings very similar to humans. We have a few major differences though. First are our ears, hair, and skin color. Our ears will always be pointed, though not as much as elves, and our skin will be brown while our hair is black, red, or mixed of the two like yours.

The other major difference is our cores. Most humans have an average magic core that is a sphere while the average for our race is a cone which makes us naturally more powerful spellcasters than them.

As for mystics, we are about the same as humans most of the time. We do have naturally stronger bodies though so we usually beat those around the same level as us.

But these are average djinn. There are also rare djinn who have innate spells like you but instead of just a specific spell, they have an entire element such as wind or fire as well as spells that they beat others in.

This is like me. I told you before that I prefer wind but I also have an innate wind spell which also makes me much better with wind element magic.

I, as well as my clan, have a spell preference for wind spells. But I am the only one who has an innate spell besides my sister. Most other members simply do it because of our ancestor's influence.

This makes your talent rare and unheard of in the entire history of the djinn. This is why my family would be very interested in having you join the Order.

I come from a clan of assassins. Our clan is one of the founding clans among the legendary order of assassins that we simply call the Order.

I am considered one of the top 3 living members of our clan, which surpasses even many of the elders. The only two people who can challenge me are my sister, your aunt, and my father, your grandfather.

We are considered one of the 3 most powerful factions in the Order and have many political connections across the entire world. So being in the top 3 of one of the 3 most powerful factions, you can guess where my power lies across the organization.

If word got out of your abilities, many would fight over you if they found out that you would not be a part of my clan."

Nathan wanted to interrupt her and deny it but she put her finger up and did not give him a chance to speak.

"No need to deny. I know you, my son. Even if it is my family, you do not want to serve or feel in debt to anyone.

You are like a bird who wishes to fly in the sky and would rather die than have your wings clipped or be caged.

This is why we shall keep your awakening a secret. Many would feel proud of your awakening but we can not let them find out about your talent.

This is why we will wait until next year to announce that you have awakened and send a false report back to my clan and the Order.

By the time they find out the truth, you will be in school and it will be difficult for them to get to you while you are there but I also believe that you will be strong enough to protect.

For the 9 years between when you turn 5 and when you have to go to the academy at 14, I will personally train you into a person who can match many members of the Order. I will also invite my sister to help since she is a powerful mystic"

Nathan did not mind these arrangements. Although he did not mind joining his mother's clan or the Order, he would not do it anytime soon. He wished to swing the blade of his own choice.

There were a few things that still puzzled him though.

"Mother, do you want me to join your family or the Order? And why must I go to school if you are already going to train me?"

Natalie looked at her son as she was seeing how foolish he was for the first time.

"I'll answer the second one first. You need to go to school for 2 reasons.

The first is that it is a requirement. All members of every race must attend school when they are still in puberty.

This is to not only ensure that everyone receives a proper education but also so that the various forces can fight over getting a chance to bring in those individuals.

The second reason is resources. If you wanted to officially join my clan and not just be born into it, it would be different.

But since you don't, you need to take the opportunity the school gives you to get as many resources as you can. From different teachers to rare materials to even learning about your future enemies and allies.

Indeed you will be more powerful than most in the school under my teaching but you won't become the strongest with two teachers.

Two people can only teach you so much."
