7 Chapter 6: Magic and Ki Lesson (1)

Nathan was now 4 years old. He had been in the new world for 4 years and had seen and learned a lot. He finally reached the point where he could accept what was going on in his surroundings and environment when he was 2. And ever since then, he had been curious about 1 thing.

"Mom!" a child yelled as he ran out of his room and into the main room of the house. A beautiful red-haired woman looked at the child who called for her with a smile on her face.

The child had short black hair with a single red streak in it and silver eyes. His skin was brown in color just like most of the natives from the area along with their slightly pointed ears. The only difference between him and most children in the area were his eyes and facial expression.

Both of his parents had red eyes along with most of the other villagers. Nathan was the only person who had silver eyes. Most thought it was a mutation or an indication of his magical affinity but Nathan knew that it was due to him being an Esper.

He was upset about it at first due to his bad memories and his experience due to being an Esper but he eventually got over it. He also learned that he kept his old racial ability as well as gained a new one due to his knew race as a djinn.

His Esper heritage made it difficult for Nathan though. He still had the same trait that most Espers had of being stoics and having difficulty showing emotions, both verbally and physically.

While his mother found it cute and called him her 'little kuudere', most others were off-put by it. He was very mature for his age and did show emotions like children his age did which meant that other children found it hard to play with him.

As for adults, they were also wary of the child who was very mature. Even Nathan's own father, Phil, did not like being around his son too much. He had called Nathan a demonic child several times, a few times even to his face.

But Nathan did not mind it too much. As he was already an adult, he knew why most would be wary of him. Even in his old universe, more advanced and sophisticated species were wary of Espers, so less advanced species would naturally fear him.

Thus, Nathan spent most of his time at home and with his mother. And under her influence as well as the new experience, he became infatuated with magic and ki from listening to her stories. And he had asked her to train him in it almost every day, with today not being an exception.

"Mom. I want to learn how to use magic and ki. I am now 4 years old today and I should be able to. Even if you do not teach me how to use magic or ki, I wish to at least learn the basics of the subjects," Nathan spoke eloquently for a 4-year-old. He stated his goal and even a backup goal in case she denied the first one yet again.

Natalie looked at her son with a smile on her face but did not answer his question immediately.

"Let's eat breakfast then talk," she said as she carried 2 plates of pancakes to the table. Phil had left earlier due to there being a rare beast in the area and wanted to increase his chances of catching it.

Nathan knew when to press forward and when to retreat so he did not continue with the topic but instead gathered the syrup, silverware, and napkins for the pair to use before bringing them to the table.

Even though the family was not rich, Natalie's wealth from being an adventurer and Phil's pay from being a soldier made them quite wealthy and they could afford many things that most commoners could not.

Nathan put his hands together and bowed his head as he mimicked the prayer that his mother was saying but did not truly pray like her. Even though he had come to a new and mysterious world, he still did not believe in things like praying to gods.

'Those guys might be real, but they most likely don't hear prayers or anything like that. Otherwise, this world would be peaceful.'

Once the pair were done praying, they began to dive into their pancakes. Neither ate like a commoner either. Both ate with elegance and sophistication. Nathan had learned from his mother how to eat but this raised questions in his mind.

'What exactly is her background?' he wondered as he looked at her. His mother was not a native of this village. They were currently living in his father, Phil's, hometown. As for his mother's background, she never brought it up. But Nathan was very curious.

She had grace and manners that were not comparable to the other villagers, she was the only magic user in the entire village, and she had a magical talent that seemed above average.

Nathan only made this conclusion due to how he saw her deal with the bandits. She used only two attacks but disabled all of her enemies with the first blow. This was only something that someone with combat training would do.

But after looking at her face for a few moments, the woman just had a small smile on her face and was enjoying her pancakes. Nathan shook his head and focused on his own food.

'Well, it doesn't matter. As long as it is no big deal, no need to worry about it. But if it comes back to haunt us, I can ensure that we will all be safe.'

After eating in peaceful harmony for a few moments, the birthday breakfast was done. Nathan was about to grab the tableware as usual and put them in the sink when his mother stopped him and told him to stay seated.

Natalie looked at her son and looked into his bright silver eyes with a small smile on her face.

'This baby of mine will always ask so I may as well guide him before he gets into some trouble. While he seems calm like the ocean, he is like a true ocean: bottomless and unfathomable. I have no idea what he will do if he does not learn something today.'

Seeing Nathan continue to stare at her, Natalie cleared her throat before speaking in the most serious voice she could muster to her son while not angry.

"You are already 4 years old. Although some might think you are a bit young, you would have already learned about magic or ki use in my family. So I guess it is about time we go over the basics at least. We can start your true magic/ki training when you are 5."
