27 Chapter 27: The Ice Cream Is Cold, But Someone's Feelings Are Burning Hot

... Shyn's Point of View ...

"Because I don't like you. My gut tells me not to trust you."

For a second, my mind stopped working. My mouth can not deliver some words to say something back. It is true, more things are going on here... but, it's not just me.

I bit my tongue, and forced myself to smile, "Oh, come on! Why? I am quite likable, I am a gentleman, smart, responsible. You know, handsome-"

"Overconfident, arrogant, I know," Ava added.

"You are starting to pick a fight again. But, why? I mean, why do you not like me?" If I were her, I wouldn't find flaws- oh...

Ohhh... okay. I get it now.

"There is something different about you." She said in a dead, serious tone.

I was taken aback by that!

I mean, the way that she said that! She was like digging a side of me! I did not expect her to say that at all...

So, she is observing me all this time, huh?

"What do you mean?" The curiosity is nesting from the both of us, carefully figuring out each other's agenda. I am sure of it!

Maybe I have made things that piqued her curiosity. But she is not an exception. All those fights she had, the break-in at her apartment, Matilda, the Gladiolus Clan, and the incident that night when she ended up in the hospital... Tell me she is not involved in bigger trouble!

I stopped surmising and screaming in my head when I heard her voice again.

"The first time I met you-," she stopped, averted her eyes, and inhaled deeply before breathing the rest of her sentence.

"Nevermind, it is obvious anyway. I Just do not... like you," she said as her eyes glinted.

I feel like there is more to what she is saying...

I wonder what was it. "Don't tell me-! The first time you saw me, it was love at first sight?!"

Ava rolled her eyes, and loudly drummed the countertop with her metal spoon! "Eww," she grimaced with a flat tone. "Stop saying disgusting things. You really need help."

"Help to develop my feelings for you?" How weird, usually, she is screaming at me every time I tease or just say something she dislikes.

"Sigh! Do you want to develop a black eye too?" Ava glared.

She is not screaming, but she is pissed alright!

I burst out laughing, seeing her annoyed like that! She is a lot cuter than I thought.

Her pretty eyes glaring at me is intimidating, but somehow, I want to see that every time. It is dangerously beautiful, she is like sexily taming me. I'm drawn...

But, I doubt that it is the case for her. I am sure that she is genuinely feeling irritated or angry. Yikes!

Hmm, the first time we met, huh? The first time we met... THE FIRST TIME WE MET! When I rescued her that night?! Speaking of that..., "Anyway, speaking of first-time meetings, you haven't thanked me yet."

"Why would I thank you?"

"What? I am the one who saved you when your head is bleeding in the middle of a dirty, dark, and creepy alley!"

"Yeah, no, I do not believe you," she shook her head sideways while rising on her seat to stand up. She is wearing a dress? I haven't noticed since she is sitting behind the kitchen island. It looked like a shirt just a while ago!

"Yes! You will believe me, and why are you wearing a cute Sunday dress?" Is she going out? This late?

Ava looked at her knee-length yellow dress, then transferred her gaze to me and shrugged. "Yeah, it was my mom's, Mr. Smith said. She did not have any other clothes besides dresses, so... yeah. Did you just say cute," she asked while her right eyebrow rose.

"You are wearing your hoodie a while ago." I innocently commented, changing the topic.

"After I hit the shower, my uniform is just gone. They took it to I don't know where. Your maids are so nosy, don't they ask first?"

I can't help but chuckle, since when did she become cute like that? Damn, how many times did I say cute?!

Sigh... "I have spare pajamas, if you want. I think it will be a little big for you, but it's better."

"Wow, so we are friends now?" Did she say that sarcastically? I think she did...

"Yes," I stretched my lips to a smile.

"No," Ava stared. Just as I thought... 'sarcastically'.

"Why aren't we talking like these often, bring some peace to the world!" I joked, gesturing both of my hands like a villain planning to overtake the world.

"Because you are like that obviously," she sighed, and tapped my shoulders. "We just do not work. You have a nasty temper. And, I am not a saint, I do not have a good personality like you."

I gently and sweetly grabbed both of her shoulders, and looked at her in the eye, "Then, we have a lot in a common!" I teased!

"Get your hands off me," oh damn, that dead serious mood again! "What we have in common, is that we do not like to be controlled. So do not try," she warned.

"You put your hands on me first," she can not blame me for doing the same. "And I do not mind you having control over me," I whispered in her ear. I distanced my face from hers and smiled teasingly. "As long as I... have control over you too," I winked.

Ava smiled, and moved her left hand on top of my right shoulder, sliding it gently to caress my neck. Her face drew nearer until her warm breath kissed my cheeks. The smell of chocolate in her breath smells so sweet. Her eyes glimmered, while her free hand gently held my waist and forcefully pushed me onto the cold ivory wall!

"Damn," I smirked. "You're dangerous."

Before she pushed me hard on the wall, her eyes shifted to a glare. Her hand on my neck tightens, readily placed to strangle me. Her other hand on my waist swiftly grabbed my left hand and restricted it by pushing my arm to my back right before she pushed me.

She smiled and looked at me with a teasing glimmer in her eyes.

Now, she is playing... this is entertaining!

I pushed her back, quickly and smoothly grabbed her waist, then turned ourselves around to pin her on the wall!

I feel the excitement crawling on my skin... I smirked! Oh, Ava... "You let your guard down."
