33 Chapter Thirty Two: Fallen angel

While going through paperwork in her office, Becca's door flew open and Navaya walked in.

Navaya intentionally walked in with loud steps, trying to get her supposedly busy friend's attention. Becca looked up when she heard the loud sound of heels clicking and saw Navaya with a sullen expression on her face, acting like an attention-deprived baby. But instead of asking what was wrong, Becca chose to ignore her spoilt friend's tantrums and continued focusing on what she was doing before Navaya interrupted.

After deliberately being ignored, Navaya stared at Becca with her mouth agape, wondering how her friend could act so cruel towards her.

Still, on her quest to gain Becca's attention, Navaya moved to the leather couch and threw her body on it.

" I'm hungry," Navaya said, adjusting her body to a more comfortable spot on the couch. She laid on her stomach, swinging her slender legs in the air, and used her hands to support her face. Flashing Becca an innocent smile, Navaya looked like a little child asking her mom for treats.

" You are an adult, Navaya. If you are hungry then go find food for yourself." Becca said without taking her eyes off the documents she was reading, not bothering to even glance at her childish friend.

" I want you to take me out for lunch," Navaya said, shifting a little to the arm of the couch.

" Do I look like Ace to you? I'm busy, go play outside." Becca responded like a busy mother shooing her annoying kid away.

" You don't have to be Ace to take me out for lunch. We can go to that restaurant you like." Navaya happily suggested, trying to lure her bestie into agreeing to her request by using her favorite restaurant as bait. Becca dropped the files in her hands and looked at Navaya.

" First of all, don't try to tempt me with my favorite restaurant. Secondly, I'm busy right now. Even if I wasn't, the place is forty-five minutes away from here and we still have work to do. We would be wasting too much time just by going there." Becca explained, trying to make Navaya understand the reason for her refusal but Navaya on the other hand wasn't ready to go up just yet. She stubbornly shook her head and persisted.

" On the contrary my dear friend, I just checked your schedule and saw that you were free for the rest of the day. You won't be attending any meetings today so you technically don't have anything better to do. You are just acting like the little nerd you are by reviewing the documents that have already been reviewed three times." Navaya grinned, knowing she had won the argument before it even began like she always did.

When it came to arguing with Navaya, Becca was powerless and could never seem to win against her.

Becca rolled her eyes and let out a sigh when she saw Navaya grinning Victoriously at her. She knew Navaya was just bored in her office and decided to come to interrupt her work. And despite how immature Navaya could be, she was still one of the smartest women Becca had ever met. Navaya happily stood up from the couch when she saw Becca getting up as well and reached out for her purse.

" I'll drive." Navaya eagerly said, making Becca roll her eyes at her again.

" Of course you will, I can't be buying you lunch and driving you all together," Becca said in a sassy tone, walking out the door. They went to the parking lot and Navaya got on the driver's seat with a grin still on her face while Becca got on the passenger's seat. Not bothering to look at her friend, Becca chose to ignore the grin plastered on Navaya's face. Sometimes Becca would even wonder how people with polar opposite characters like them even became so close in the first place.

Well, it all started in freshman year of high school when Navaya defended Becca from being harassed by a group of bullies and almost broke a chair on one of the miscreant's head. Since they attended an all-girls boarding school that was filled with bullies, they chose to stick together, defending each other when they found themselves in trouble and that was how their beautiful friendship was born. Even after high school, they applied to study in Cambridge and both got in. They managed to get the same dorm room and became so inseparable that Becca's house in Massachusetts became Navaya's second home. And despite being very different in various ways, they were still so alike.

They were differently alike.

They finally got to the restaurant after driving for forty-five minutes. After entering the restaurant, they went ahead and picked one of the best tables that were available. The restaurant was kinda busy that day so they were just a few tables that were left unoccupied. But after a while, those tables also got occupied and the restaurant soon became packed with customers.

" I'm so glad we left early or else we wouldn't have gotten a table," Navaya said with a hint of relief in her voice and Becca nodded in agreement.

" Yeah, I'm also glad we did. This place is packed today." Becca responded and picked up the menu. When she was done browsing through it, she looked at Navaya and saw her smiling at something on her phone. Becca creased her brows and tried to grab hold of the phone but Navaya was quick to move her hand away before Becca got hold of it.

" Hey, what gives?" Navaya whined when Becca tried to snitch her phone away.

" I thought we came here to eat but here you are smiling at only God knows what on your phone," Becca said with a grumpy look on her face. Looking at the mischievous gleam on Navaya's face, Becca knew her friend was looking at what she shouldn't. " What are you even looking at?" Becca asked and Navaya let out a sinister chuckle which made Becca regret asking in the first place.

Navaya stood up from her seat and moved to Becca's, nudging her a little bit so she would make some space for her to sit. Navaya sat next to Becca who had a 'what the hell are you up to?' glare on her face. Ignoring her glaring friend, Navaya brought her phone close to Becca's face and showed her what she was smiling at before. It was a simple collage made from pictures of Becca and Leo with 'match made in heaven' beautifully written on it.

" Look, take a good look at this. Can't you see how pretty this looks? I just designed it a few minutes ago." Navaya said and Becca stared at the image in confusion, wondering why Navaya had Leo Kane's picture in her phone.

" Where did you get this picture?" Becca asked, pointing to Leo's picture.

" Oh, this one?" Navaya asked, swiping to the next picture on her phone which was Leo's.

" Yes, that one..." Becca trailed off and swallowed while staring at the picture. It was a picture of Leo about to get into his car and it looked like it was taken outside Trex corp's building. She turned to Navaya with a questioning look on her face but instead of explaining how she got the picture, Navaya used her index finger to turn Becca's face back to the phone before saying; " Becca, look at the size of this man's biceps. Feast your eyeballs on this man's heavy weapons of mass destruction. Look at how that suit hugs every muscle on his body. Like we aren't even talking about his face right now, but his physique alone is enough to command men on the field and women on the bed. And I'm not exaggerating if I say he probably sleeps in the gym."

" What I want to know is where you got this picture from," Becca said with a frown, narrowing her eyes at her friend.

Navaya noticed Becca's vicious stares and quickly raised her hands in surrender.

" Relax, before you start acting like a jealous future girlfriend, I took it the day we had a meeting with him. It's not like I'm stalking him or anything." Navaya explained with a laugh and Becca heaved a sigh of relief.

" That's relieving." Becca accidentally blurted out and Navaya's grin turned into a teasing smile.

" Of course, besides it wouldn't look good if I'm caught stalking your possible future husband." Navaya casually said and Becca shot her a disapproving glare, not liking how Navaya was teasing her about the whole Leo Kane issue.

" Why did you even take the picture in the first place?" Becca asked, staring skeptically at her friend.

" Why wouldn't I? I mean I saw a living breathing work of art and you expect me not to take a picture. Do you even know me? You of all people should know how much I appreciate beauties." Navaya stated her reasons and Becca just shook her head at her.

Navaya was something and even after being friends with her for years now, Becca still didn't fully understand how Navaya's head worked.

" So you take pictures of every fine person you see. Wait, don't tell me you also take pictures of my brother!" Becca exclaimed with a horrid expression on her face when she saw Navaya nervously scratching the back of her neck.

" Well, not anymore though but it isn't my fault every man acquainted with you has to be jaw-dropping and Johnny is no exception. Have you even seen the guy?" Navaya blabbered, trying to defend her creepy habit.

" Yes I have, he's my brother," Becca said, folding her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes.

" Right now I don't even know who's more handsome. Both are so delightful to look at, on one hand, we have Johnny who looks like a fallen angel, and then we have Leonardo who looks like a statue sculpted by God himself." Navaya kept rumbling about rubbish while Becca stared at her like she had spouted two more heads.

" And then we have Ace," Becca said, interrupting Navaya's word vomit.

" Ace who?" Navaya asked and Becca's mouth fell open.

" Ace, the guy who you seem to have forgotten is your current boyfriend."

" Oh, that Ace. I almost didn't know who you were talking about." Navaya laughed and Becca shook her head again at her.

A frown marred Becca's beautiful face when she saw Navaya still staring at Leo's picture. Feeling annoyed, Becca snitch the phone away and deleted the picture from Navaya's phone but not before sending it to hers through WhatsApp.

With a bright smile on her face, Navaya watched Becca delete the picture from her phone and giggled when she saw Becca sending the picture to herself.

'Who knew Becca could act so cute when she had a crush on a guy.' Navaya said to herself.

" Jealous girlfriend strikes again." Navaya teased, earning herself a sharp side glare from Becca.

" I am not a jealous girlfriend!" Becca denied, refusing to admit the fact that she was feeling annoyed at Navaya for having Leo's picture on her phone.

Seriously, which type of person keeps a picture of their friend's crush on their phone?

" Then why do you look so annoyed by me keeping his picture?" Navaya asked and Becca snorted.

" I'm not," Becca answered and this time Navaya was the one who rolled her eyes.

" You are, don't deny it."

" Oh please! Give me a break, why would you even keep Leo Kane's picture in the first place, huh? It's wrong to take people's pictures without their permission." Becca countered and Navaya shot her a look.

" Okay, let me get this straight. So it's right if you have his picture but wrong if I do?" Navaya asked skeptically and Becca nodded.

" Yeah, exactly." Becca shamelessly answered and Navaya was taken aback by Becca's response because she didn't expect it to be so straightforward.

" Oh, really now." Was the only thing Navaya could say as she was rendered speechless for the first time by Becca.

" Yes, I was the one he was shamelessly flirting with so I have the right to keep his picture." Becca declared and Navaya shook her head at her friend. It looks like Becca was low-key suffering from Leo Kane fever but didn't know about it despite the symptoms being extremely clear.

While the two women were grossed in their Childish bickering, they didn't even notice the person in a dashing three-piece suit walking into the restaurant. Leo Kane looked around the restaurant and spotted where his woman and her friend's table was at then approached it. While moving towards their table, he noticed that they were bickering about something and somehow heard his name in their conversation. He soon understood that they were arguing about who gets to keep a picture and grinned when he heard his Becca saying she had the right to keep his picture.

" Oh, I agree, Becca gets to keep my picture," Leo said with a smirk as he reached their table, startling them in the process. Well, mostly Becca. They both Jerked their heads to his direction with shock written all over them.

" Speak of the handsome devil," Navaya muttered under her breath after she fully regained her composure from the shock she just received while Becca stared at Leo like a kid who just got caught stealing cookies from the jar.

" May I join you?" Leo politely asked and before Becca could even respond, Navaya quickly nodded.

" Of course you can, in fact, I was just leaving." Navaya excitedly said and turned to Becca. " I just got a text from Ace saying he wants to take me to see a movie." She lied and Becca's eyes bulged out.

" What! Let me see the text." Becca demanded, not believing what Navaya just told her.

" Okay, let me show you since you obviously don't believe me. Oops, I just accidentally deleted it. Bye." Navaya said, picking up her purse and dashed out of the restaurant, feeling extremely proud of herself for abandoning Becca with Leonardo.

In Navaya's head, what she did was right. Becca and Leo needed time to bond if they were ever going to date each other. And with that thought, Navaya happily skipped to her car and drove off, leaving her friend stranded with Leo Kane.

A few seconds passed after Navaya left and Becca was still angrily glaring at the door with full concentration until Leo's voice broke her focus.

" Your friend seems nice." He said with a little laugh in his voice.

" Oh, she's definitely something alright."
