3 Chapter 2

I had been living with Chamomile for 3 months when I was finally summoned by the High Priestess. Chamomile explained to me after one of her visits, that they were allowing me to get used to living in this world. I chuckle at this. She made it seem as though I wouldn't be killed as soon as they found out my identity.

After all, I am the daughter of cult leaders. This particular cult, Mojo, wanted to 'farm' 'humans. The humans would be captured and bought to the Vampire world, where they would be hidden on a secluded island. They were able to live their lives, they just were eaten. Plus a lot of them were stolen from families, some were kids, etc.

I wasn't old enough to know this. I was 3 when the cult was discovered by the Yasu and forcefully disbanded, the humans sent back home. My father and the other members were killed, after trying to hold the town captive and my mother took me and his in the human world. I only know all this because my mother told me, as she raised me to be a super soldier.

It had obviously worked, seeing as though I beat the royal combat trainer. A few times actually. Octavio enjoyed coming over and sparring with me. Since I was' successful' made into a soldier, I would obviously be put to death. They definitely don't need me around wreaking havoc and starting another cult.

I should be afraid, but quite frankly, I'm not. I've wanted to die for a long time. I don't believe in the cult's cause, I just want a peaceful life. So if they kill me, I'll probably be reincarnated as a normal person. I look forward to this. I also want to know how I was found. I don't remember anything after my mother woke me up with an attack and we sparred, like we do everyday. Though with my mother, it was really a fight to the near death. It hadn't really been that way in a while. It was mostly draws between us now.

"I need to walk you through the process of meeting the High Priestess. She is our most sacred, and powerful entity. I know that you grew up in the human world, so it is up to me to teach you our customs." She then taught me how I should bow to her, and to only speak when spoken to. My hair should be out, as the High Priestess did not like it to be contained in any way. She believed that it should be free and flowing. And since I was so low in status, my head should be bowed when spoken to.

"And most importantly", Chamomile concluded, "You must remain in her presence until she dismisses you. In fact, there is no way to leave. Once you are in her presence, you are magically bound to her until she dismisses you. I wanted to tell you just in case for some reason, you decide to try to leave and find that you cannot. You may move about as much as you please, but you cannot leave the room until she dismisses you." I thought about this for a moment. I figured it was probably how they captured my mother. I wanted to ask Chamomile, but decided against it.

"Come, Abigail. We must get you prepared", Chamomile instructed as she walked away. I dutifully followed. I was bathed again in a very sweet smelling liquid. "This is Rotagyua flower extract, the high priestess' favorite flower. She requires everyone bath in it when meeting her. I don't know why, butI do know it has calming properties. It also promotes openness and trust. I suppose that's why", Chamomile explained.

I was a bit disturbed by that and thought that she may be trying to appease the High Priestess and maybe convince her not to kill me. I became a bit uneasy as the I continued to get prepared. After my bath, I was put in a purple satin dress. It was sleeveless and had silver buckle at the waist with a pentagram on it. My hair was brushed into a fro. She place pretty Red and Yellow flowers that smelled like the bath. Chamomile often commented that my hair was very long and thick and curly. I silently agreed. It was impossible to deal with.

Once I was ready, we teleported. We landed at a huge castle. It didn't seem to be part of the island Chamomile lived on. I figured we teleported to a different world. I decided to look to Chamomile for an explanation. "I thought the only way to get to other worlds is to go through the Teleportation Station", I said, wanting to know how she got through this loophole. The Teleportation Station is a huge teleportation circle in the middle of a field that is always open. We use it to get the human world, or any other world besides our own.

Chamomile nodded. "It is. We are still in our own world, just a segment normally hidden", she replied. "A castle does not fit very well with the scenery of a tiny island", she added with a slight smile. I nodded solemnly and looked towards the castle. A Yasu Force guard briskly walked up to us. He bowed to Chamomile, who curtsied back. He nodded to me. I stared at him, making no attempt to hide the disdain I felt for him. He turned and walked briskly toward the castle. We followed.

The High Priestess resided on the top floor of the castle, on the 10th floor. We used a levitation circle to get up, though I would have preferred using the stairs. We walked down a long hallway, and the guard spoke to another guard, who was at the door. He gave an exasperated look, and turned around and led us back down to the first floor. We went out the back into a large garden.

We both gasped at the beauty. It was a natural oasis. If I didn't see the glass done surrounding us,I would have thought we we outside. There were many different species of flower there, and many trees. It was also rampant with animals, going about their lives as if they didn't know that we had entered. A rabbit hopped up to me. I bent down to pick it up, and then I saw her.

She was standing near the biggest tree in the garden, talking to one of the Yasu. She had a halo of light surrounding her that I quickly gathered was her magical aura, and walked lightly, although she was a large woman, and she looked as though she were floating. She had dark skin, and thick curly black hair that stopped just past her shoulder. Her purple eyes were large and kind. She wore a tight one sleeved black dress and a belt with a pentagram on it.

She noticed me and smiled, and began to walk toward me. The trees seemed to respond to her, humming gently as she glided past. I froze, still holding the rabbit, who wriggled around attempting to escape. She walked up to me, took the rabbit, and released him. I stared at her, frozen with my mouth agape, unable to think clearly. She smiled at me, and I suddenly remembered where I was and quickly bowed. I shook slightly, though I wasn't sure if it we're from fear of her immense power, or awe.

Suddenly there was a light touch on my chin, and I looked up. She smiled at me. I was mesmerized. I found myself smiling back at her, my fear having dissipated. She looked at Chamomile who was still bowing and nodded. She quickly stood, her excitement and confusion barely contained. She approached us.

"Our Dear Daughter, we are greatly honored to be in your presence", she said loudly, her eyes lowered. I jumped, remembering that I was also supposed to have my head bowed at all times. I quickly bowed my head. The High Priestess nodded.

"I know it has taken a while to summon you, but I was doing thorough research. I wanted to finally meet Abigail, and let you know that your Formation Ceremony will commence in 2 days.", she announces. We both bow.

"I also have uncovered Abigail's identity", she continued. I gulped, my fears confirmed and lowered my head.

"This is the daughter of Amelia and Justin, the leaders of the cult Mojo, who had been disbanded. She and her mother escaped 10 years ago", she turned to me. I kept my head down.

"Look at me Abigail", she said gently, but firmly. I slowly lifted my head to look at her. Her face was kind. She didn't seem angry at me. "Abigail, do you know where your mother is?" she asked lightly. I stared back at her confused.

"No. I have no idea where she is. I-I thought you, the Yasu, had caught her", I replied hesitantly. She shook her head solemnly.

"Then we will continue to search for her. Do you know when you were separated, where you were?", she asked. I thought back to the last time I saw her. I remembered waking up, and I remembered sparring, but I still didn't remember anything after.

"I don't know", I answered, barely above a whisper, "I just remember waking up and fighting her".

The High priestess looked concerned.

"You got into an argument with you mom and ran off?" she questioned me gently, trying to understand.

I shook my head. "My mother and I often sparred. We did that the last time I saw her, but I don't remember it, or anything else. I just remember waking up in a white room." The high priestess nodded solemnly.

"You must have suffered some memory loss with the shock", she assured me

"We will try and figure out tomorrow at her Formation Ceremony", she told Chamomile. She looked at me, "Do you know what that is?", she asked gently. I shook my head.

"As you know, when a child turns 5, the begin their development into a vampire. On the eve of their birthday, we hold a ceremony. They drink their first Blood, and their path is revealed to them. You don't need your first blood, but we do need to see what your path is". I nodded.

"What is your Blood capacity", she inquired, "We need it to know how far along you are in your development", she explained. Blood capacity is the amount of time you can go without having to get more blood from a human. Most vampires can go a month without needing any, but my mom wanted me to turn as many people as possible so she made me drink blood often, so that my body would get used to drinking.

I gulped. "A week". People gasped and muttered. The High Priestess nodded.

"So, your mother was in fact trying to make you into a soldier. One of the best ways to see if a vampire has gone rouge is to see their blood capacity. I know you wouldn't know for sure, but do you think that may be why you went out of control"?

When a vampire reaches their capacity, they lose control and go on a rampage until they are subdued. However, my mother would never let me go on a rampage, it would draw too much attention, and if I went on a rampage, I would overfeed and she'd have to start the process over. She wanted to wait until I was ready to create, so I got fed every day.

I couldn't remember going out of control, but that explains the memory. I slowly shook my head as I remembered the last time I ate. If I had gone out of control, it couldn't have been due to that.

The High Priestess turned to speak to another guard. After a few minutes, I figured she was no longer needed me, so I began to search the garden for another rabbit. Suddenly, I heard a heartbeat. A human one. I closed my eyes and concentrated to figure out where it was. I heard heavy breathing. The lungs were relatively young. Its pulse had quickened. The source was… the big tree!

I looked around quickly. No one seemed noticed him. I stalked over to it, making sure my steps were light. It didn't take much effort as a human's hearing capacity was laughably low, and I was a master huntress. I loved it, hunting was my favorite thing to do.

I approached the tree. It was a boy, around my age. He had straight brown hair and grey eyes. His lips were full and red, and you could see his veins very clearly through his ivory skin. I licked my lips and stepped forward. Then he turned towards me. Our eyes met. I felt a jolt of electricity and it felt as though our hearts began to beat in sync.

I disregarded this, figuring it was just a response to my hunger. I unleashed my fangs and in a second, I was on him, fangs on his throat, ready to strike. To my surprise, I found I couldn't. Something was holding me back. I slowly lifted my head to look at him. He stared back at me, stricken with fear. I could hear the blood rushing through his veins.

My heart pounded with his, and I could feel his fear. I lowered nose to his throat again, and inhaled. He smelled sweet, and a bit nostalgic. Gently I nipped his throat, though it wasn't out of hunger. It was more affectionate. His breathing and heart rate quickened. I feared he may have a heart attack it was beating so fast. I lifted my head to look at him… and he screamed.

"I stumbled back, startled, my trance broken. Yasu Guards and Chamomile ran over to us, with the High Priestess trailing behind them. They were shouting and running towards me, and I began to feel fear. I wondered why the boy was there. Maybe he was a trap to capture me. Maybe this was the High Priestess' pet and I committed a huge atrocity. I looked around frantically, terrified, but deep in me, there was excitement.

I kind of liked how chaotic it was. I wanted to create more. The fact that I found myself liking it made me more afraid and I felt my power begin to rise. I struggled to control them. Sparks shot out of my hands, and pebbles began to levitate and swirl around me. Chamomile noticed and ran faster towards me with her hands out summoning her calming magic.

"No!", I shouted at her frantically. I was losing this battle and I wanted, no needed to create more chaos. My fingers itched to shoot something, I wanted to fight, to kill. But I didn't want to kill her. Chamomile ignored me and continued running my way. The boy was running towards the door with a few guards running after him. Suddenly he tripped. I felt an urge to protect him. Without thinking I charged over to him and threw a ball of energy at the guards that were chasing him. They flew into the large tree. I froze.

Everything stopped and they all stared at me. Before they anyone could react, I grabbed the boy and ran. We ran through the castle, dodging people and running into things. It was chaotic, and I loved it, but I was also afraid. I didn't want to hurt anyone. My magic continued to rise. We had reached the front lawn, when I suddenly recalled everything. The fight with my mother, killing her, my rampage, the fight with the Yasu Guard, everything. I stopped and fell to my knees. I couldn't breathe and my magic was becoming overwhelming. The boy backed away from me slowly, then my magic suddenly exploded out, and I fainted.
