1 Chapter 1 start of he who must not be named reign

Mad eye P.O.V

We knew it was going to happen and told people to be prepared for what was coming, he decided to start with something big and he did with a systematic attack on muggle and half blood families killing them with his followers.

I had to go the mess after it happened with so many dead when a name on the list startled me, with the husband a young one who just became an Auror and the wife an exile from a pure blood family. No sign of the kid from the reports, meaning either they took him for a pawn or to be an example of, harsh for a young one.

When I reach the house I see some colleagues looking for clues on who has caused this, but I have my suspicion on that wench who follows her dark lord. While I was looking around I notice that something isn't right as the bodies look like they were avoiding the stairs and where trying to bring the death eaters to the basement. When I go look down there's nothing, it's just a normal basement with boxes and junk when I look with my eye nothing comes up. I decide to head upstairs to see what they were herding the death eaters away from, while walking up the stairs I am looking at everything with my eye. Looking for hidden rooms or signs of magic, while going through the rooms I look at the pictures of a happy family with the father I met many times at work with a stupid grin, the mother with her blonde hair warm eyes and great open smile holding their baby with a somehow stoic face, while they were sitting on the stairs in a muggle picture.

As I look around I notice it is the only muggle picture as the rest are normal moving pictures of them as a family, with different friends and in the wedding pictures you can the bride and groom and their party. On the groom side you can see Edgar Bones and Jacob Scamander his best man and groomsman respectively and on the brides side Alice Longbottom and Minerva McGonagall looking a little empty. When I get to thinking I go back down stairs I start to stare at, when I see I'm getting looked at when I see traces of magic on 3rd step and cast a revealing spell and nothing happens. This time I just rip it up by with my hands and when I look down I see a small child in the corner of what looks to be a panic room made in the stairs.

Few hours later at order headquarters

Dumbledore "We have news on over 12 attacks happening on the muggle or half-blood family's this night with over 23 dead that we know of and 6 missing and 1 survivor a boy. Moody Care to explain."

As everyone looks at auror with a young child holding his leg and refusing to let go.

Mad eye "As you know I was first on call to find evidence and clues. At 3rd house I was assigned to investigate I wasn't expecting much different when I entered I noticed that the parents looked to be herding the battle in a certain direction. Pretty good considering that it was a surprise attack, when I notice from their actions and evidence the stairs were pointed at as important and what I found was their kid in a panic room with a spoon that I figured was a Portkey that he carried on his person in case of trouble."

Dumbledore "glad to here the child is safe, but doesn't explain why he is on your leg."

Mad eye "since he first saw me and wasn't disgusted like most kids, he hasn't let go or he when forced as soon as he is let go he runs back to me."

Electing a chuckle from all of those present

Dumbledore "does anyone know who his guardian is, or anyone left in his family"

Fleatcher "you know with my contacts, I can find out alot of things. I found that the godfather was killed last year who was one of Edger Bones sons suspected to have been ambushed. We all know the mother side of the family is no place to raise him"

Dumblefore is surpised to hear this "I guess his mentorship helped guide him more than I though, does Edger want anything to do with his students son"

Mad eye "No, when I checked with him, they had a falling out shortly after his son was killed as they both blamed each other as we know who killed him but have no evidence to prosecute the bastard who did it"

As all eyes fall on the child who is holding the auror chief leg, while looking around not making a noise, as they start to think he must be a tough one when knowing his parents are dead and not crying his eyes out like most would his age. When Dumbledore purposed somthing that shocked the room

Dumbledore "Since he has taken a liking to you Moody, I think its fine if you raise him. We all know you are proboly the best one to protect him. We all know he will be targeted again, he seems to like you and I think it might be good for you." when everyone looks at him in disbelief

Arthur Weasley "Now here here Dumbledore, we all know he is the best at fighting dark wizards in the Ministry of Magic, but that does not mean he is the best at raising a child"

Dumbledore "It's not just me that thinks this is best when I look at the child at see his thoughts I can tell this is what he wants to. I am guessing to become strong as well. But it is not up to us as there is one person who matters"

As he looks at Mad eye causing the rest to follow suit, as he sees all the eyes on him for change when he looks at the child holding his and picks him up and looks at him face to face, when the kid grabs him by the nose surprising everyone.

Mad eye "I will raise him in these hectic years, but no complaints on how I do it, alright"

as he looks one last time at the kid and puts him to sleep allowing him to digest everything that has happened to him today, as he understands people takeing greif differently and this child is not any normal one
