CHAPTER 47

Lightning struck, followed by a thunderclap that shook the ground. The clouds collected, turning grey as they discharged heavy raindrops from the sky, drenching the ground. Extinguishing the raging flames and leaving only the bones of the wolves that had been in the car with us.

The distinct odour of roasted wolves filled the air; their insides had all been burned, and their skulls and bones had gone black and coated with dried blood. I couldn't take my gaze away from the horrifying scene in front of me, and I couldn't bring myself to breathe properly.

"Nalani, breathe," I said to myself, but I couldn't. I was choking on air, gasping for my life, yet my eyes remained on the ruins of what was left of the wolves.

"Luna, are you okay?" General Gabriel asked, firmly holding onto my arm as he pulled me closer to him, standing in front of me and blocking the horrific sight before me.
