29 TWENTY-EIGHT: The Rejection

SAMUEL

I was heading into the kitchen to aid in my rumbling stomach who was growling hungrily for food. When all of a sudden someone grabbed me from behind my back and pulled me against the wall. My eyes went big when I realized that the backstabber doctor is here.

"Boss!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, but before I could do any more screaming Kieran decided to clamp my mouth shut with his hands. My boss had betrayed me. She promised to tell me if each time Kieran comes into the house. He bravely leaned in for a kiss on my mouth and when he does and let go of me I slapped him straight into his pretty face. "Ouch!" he groaned. "This hurts more when my ex-girlfriend hits me."

"It sure does," I spat his kiss. "And I'm a man."

"A man who hits like a lady," he smirks.

"Yea it won't do me any harm since I know full well that I am just slim with no muscles."

"Go to the gym with me then," he sneaked his hands towards my ass and grips on them. Once again, I slapped them away before he can lay his bloody hands on them.

"Get a grip, Dr. Kieran. We're in the dining room anyone could be coming and seeing you here."

"Then let them see," he beckons catching my chin with his fingers looking straight into my eyes. My breath was caught in the middle of all this. Kieran is without a doubt a seductive person, but in the long run, he is a mysterious person. He can easily fool any person with his soft and demeaning side when he is actually a devil in disguised despite having little feelings for him he is too cunning. At times I don't even know what he is thinking. He is unpredictable, cunning, and smart. He has some atmosphere around him that screams danger. I closed my eyes and calmed my heart rate down. Before he could do anything to me I slapped his hands away.

"Samuel?" He stood back and looked at me shocked. It was the first time I reacted this way to him, but it was a way for me to protect myself. The memory of my past lover still haunts me. I could still his face every time I closed my eyes to sleep. It's too terrifying and I've been hurt far too many times. I am just not ready to accept another love even if I have the tiniest feelings for Kieran. I don't ever want to see him getting hurt because of me.

He attempted to walk a few steps in front of me. "Don't," I said making him stop in his tracks.

"Are you ok?" he sounds worried. "Did I go too far?"

"N-no," I panted. I covered my eyes with my hands for a moment I have seen flashing moments of my past lover. "I'm fine," I lied. I am too unstable to be in a relationship.

"Your face has gone terribly pale, Samuel. You look like you've seen a ghost."

"Leave me alone, Kieran."

"Ok," he answered. "If you need me. You know where to find me."

I nod as soon as he left I dropped to the ground. My hands were shaking and I can't stop seeing his face. The way he looks at me and smiles sweetly every time haunts me. It is always sweet moments and then at the end of this memory of him was the sight of him sitting on the bathroom floor with a bottle of empty pain killers beside him. I killed him. Yet, he slept so peacefully. It was from then I couldn't have moved on from him. He had successfully wrapped me around his fingers.

"Erica!"

My eyes went big. The sound of Camila's voice burst throughout the hallway. I broke out of my traumatic past and rushed upstairs into the room. In there, I saw my boss on the ground wincing. Camila held onto Erica while Fay stood on the bed asking Camila what is happening?

I rushed to my boss side. "She is getting so cold," Camila looked at me scared.

Immediately, I pulled Erica into my arms. "She'll be fine, ma'am." I ensured and carried her down to the laboratory where Kieran is.

"Kieran," I yelled. He looked at him and read the situation fast. He came quickly and checked Erica. When he couldn't check what was wrong with human technology he decided to use his ability. He held his hand out and green aura surrounded him flowing down meeting Erica but somehow Kieran was blasted away with his own ability knocking off the chemicals off the table and he crashed into the wall.

The smoke went up everywhere and I ran to his side. He held a hand over to his mouth and choked up some blood. He panted and winced at the pain as he tried to stand up. "This is something I have never seen before," he panted. "But this is something out of reach for me." He wobbled for a moment and I quickly lend my hand out to support him. "Her subconscious is drifting away to another world and is definitely not entering the god's domain."

"Then where is she headed?" I asked.

"I don't know," he said unsure. "I have never felt power like this before, but I believe it is nothing dangerous." He groaned and tried to stretch his back like an old man. He took a serviette out of his pockets and wiped his blood away.

"Nothing dangerous?" my voice went high pitched. "I saw your own powers backfired you and the fact right now you can't even stand straight without me supporting you is nothing dangerous." He gave in a smile and within that moment my heart throbbed for a bit his smile is very alluring.

"Were you scared for me, kitten?" he teased.

I let go of him as soon as I did he dropped onto the floor groaning in pain. "Not cool, Samuel. Not cool."

I ignored him and looked at my boss. Well, I am glad that my boss wasn't in any life-threatening situation and I hoped she'll come back to us soon. After all, the reason I am still standing here today is because of Erica. If it weren't for her I believed that I would have been buried deep somewhere underground. Since then I pledge my life and loyalty to her. It was because of this she trusted me and had me drank her blood and survived through it that I gained some magic through the Lumia blood which allowed me to become a member of the Lumia family.

Come back soon, boss.

ERICA

Darkness.

I am trapped inside an empty space. I tried to search for Chione, but I couldn't. It was the first time that I felt Chione crying out in pain. I walked in this empty space and it felt like I have walked for hours and I still haven't come to an exit. It feels like I am walking in circles.

I sighed. I can still feel Chione but she was getting weaker and weaker. Still, I won't give up. I walked and searched for her. It was then I saw a figure on the ground. I quickly ran up and saw Chione. She looks like she was disappearing. She was getting translucent that my eyes went up in shock. I pulled her into my arms and she weighs as light as a feather.

"Chione," I shook her awake. "Wake up!" Her eyes were still closed but I won't let her. I let my power slipped through creating a cold atmosphere to wake her up and thankfully it did.

"Where are we?" Chione asked surprisingly weak.

"I have no idea. I was hoping you would tell me," I said. "You are a goddess."

A weak smile crawled onto her face. "Not all gods are all-knowing," she said. "Erica, I can't feel my legs."

I looked down at her legs they were disappearing. I can't help but shake terrified at this feeling crawling that was crawling inside my chest. Chione brought her hands up to her eyes. She smiles sadly at it. "I guess this is it. I am disappearing. My young Lumia, I did not regret choosing you as my final host. You are someone very special. I am glad that I met you."

"No!"

Too late. Chione's body shimmered as her body shattered into thousands of shards. You and I are meant to be one.

In the midst, something shown up in the middle floating in the air, an ice flower. It looks exactly like sakura! The flower went into my body and immediately I understood what is the scrolls of mother earth and how the gods were created and why every god fear the scrolls of mother earth.

I sighed. The scrolls of mother earth were created by a group of superhumans called the ancient one. These superhumans are a being that transcends the being of gods. The gods were created by the scrolls of mother earth they were the reason why the gods were created and now they are taking back their creation. This is too cruel.

The ancient one must be stopped!
