Chapter 39: Quest For The Unknown
"Can you feel my thumping heart?" he asked her with depth in his eyes
"...." (no reply)
Danica was stiffened out of blush and was staring at Alfred with popping eyes
"My heart always flutters like this, whenever I see you" Alfred said
"I really love you, Danica. Even the thought of losing you shatters me..." Alfred adds and hugs her.
Danica's heart melts upon hearing his true feelings, she was about to hug him and confess her feelings too, but, before she could. The flashbacks of the past strikes in her mind, she reckons her sufferings and torments and steps back.
She steps back and leaves the area hurriedly.
Alfred stares at her, as she left.
"I need to work harder to make her mine" Alfred muttered inwardly
"I know you like me too" he smiled and said
[ You will accept your heart's call one day and be mine ] he thought
Meanwhile, the party ends.
Everyone gathered outside the hotel. A white shiny car arrives and Paul opens the door for Nina, she sits inside the car. Paul smiles at everyone and sits too.
The car vacated the area and everyone stared as they left. Everyone now heads to their respective car and leaves the hotel.
Meanwhile, Danica arrives and stands beside Mr. Lee.
She was wearing jeans and a simple top.
Mr. Lee looks at her, he wasn't able to recognize her, since she had changed her dress and was wearing black sunglasses.
"Who are you?" Mr. Lee inquired
Danica removes her black sunglasses expressively and says "You fool! it's me"
"Oh...s.. sorry boss" he said and lowered his head
"You changed the dress..." Mr. Lee adds
Danica cut him short and replied "It's my life, my choice. I wanted to change, so I changed. Do you have any issues?"
"Ah... I am sorry" Mr. Lee said and bowed
"Since Paul is no longer working in my company, so, now you will be my manager. Understood?" Danica said
"Ah, okay boss" he replied
Danica was about to leave, but she stops and says "Uh...one more thing"
"Tomorrow, arrive at Company early in the morning. I want all advancement reports of our upcoming product. I am planning to release that soon" she asserted
"Boss, don't worry. Mr. Wilson will take care of it" Mr. Lee answered humbly
"Who is he?" she inquired with popping eyes
"Ah, it seems you don't remember the person you hired a few months ago" Mr. Lee said and gave a nervous smile
"I didn't hire anyone this year. Understood?" she replied authoritatively
"What?" Mr. Lee was shocked
"But, this guy has been working with us for many months. Upon inquiry, he said that 'Ms. Danica hired me' " Mr. Lee adds with shooting eyes
"He was with us even when we did the product launch event with Mr. Alfred's company" He adds
"I didn't hire anyone, surely he is lying and is in my company for a purpose. Now, he will tell me everything, let's catch him" Danica mumbled inwardly.
"What's the time?" Danica asked Mr. Lee
"9:30 pm"
"Let's go, we just have thirty minutes" Danica said and hastily moves towards her car
Mr. Lee tries to keep pace with her walk and says "Where are we going, boss?"
"To the company" she replied and sits inside her car.
Mr. Lee stood outside and gazed at the car, he was perplexed.
Danica lowers the window of the car and says looking at Mr. Lee "Are you planning to stay here all night?"
"N...No"
"Get inside the car" she adds
Mr. Lee sits inside the car, beside her.
"You know that person very well, right?" she said and glanced at him
"Yes boss"
"Hmm, let's catch him then" she replied and started the car.
Mr. Lee's eyes widened.
[What!!! this isn't the right time, though ] He thought.
Mr. Lee was about to speak his mind, but, before he could, Danica said him promptly
"Put on the seat belt" she said and gave an evil smile
[ GULP ] Mr. Lee
Mr. Lee puts on the seat belt
"It's going to be fun" she mumbled inwardly and smiled
[ THE CHASE HAD JUST BEGUN ]
