12 Chapter 11

Nyx's POV:

"I'm serious, Matteo, this is important information I need for a friend... can you make it happen?" I asked him with a gentle look. The older man looked up from the antique knife he'd placed on his silver little stands.

"Cualquier cosa por ti mi amor," He replied with a slightly insulted expression before pulling me into a tight hug.

Matteo is one of those hidden gems, you just don't know how valuable they are until you take your time to uncover and clean them.

"Gracias Matteo," I kissed him on his bald head before turning around to leave the antique store he's been running for over 30 years. Matteo's pride and baby.

Horrible things are going to happen whether we like it or not but the least I can do is try and get some information.

Pulling out my phone, I dialed Ivy's number and waited. It only took a second before she picked up.

"Hey, what's up? You got anything on the blood bond?" The first thing Ivy brought up was the bond I had no intention of breaking.

Not like the girls knew that.

That connection is going to be the beginning of so much and bring our Vivian in a direction of healing. It might take a lot of work and make her vulnerable but it's necessary.

Vivian deserves all the good that's coming her way if the darkness in her life lifts. Viv's destiny is to get rid of the monster that has been haunting the Other world and this one since the beginning. Several different versions of her confront him and in all of the futures I saw, not a single one of them ended in her happiness.

All except for one.

The future that will bud from the blood bond she's so desperate to get rid of.

They don't know it but things are going to get worse.

And it all started the day Vivian went back for Oriness.

"Not much, the library of Knowledge seems to be hush-hush on the subject and the librarians aren't so keen to share," Now that wasn't too much of a lie since they really do like to keep their lips sealed tight.

I mean, they love me but Ivy doesn't need to know that right now.

"Damn, I won't update her until there's something. No reason to upset her over anything. So how's Spain?" She sighed, clearly having enough on her plate to deal with.

I feel guilty that I haven't been able to help my best friends physically for the last 70-something years. When Vivian had been put into the earth alive, I couldn't even do anything. I'd been in the middle of taking a monster down and all I could was guide Ivy to her.

To see everything yet be able to do nothing.

My will is no longer my own and I accepted that a long time ago.

I'm an old high priestess, I've known nothing else but the old days. If I were to ever lose the goddess's blessing and my place within the temple, I'd be lost.

Like a newborn child.

I am a slave to fate.

"Not as fun as one would think but I've got some information. Valentino has been trying to reach out to other vampire nests to gather more allies against Elzrurron. Dexter is off his raider and you all need to watch out for that fucker. The both of you have run into one too many times for my liking," My voice tumbled out of my mouth as I left the parking lot and jumped into the first taxi that stopped for me.

"I thought the other nests were too afraid of Valentino to get involved with him?" Ivy sounded confused and I wish I had the time to explain things.

For now, the short version is always better.

"Whatever it is that he's done, they're too afraid to say no to him. There have been 8 nests that have kneeled to him, 20 more to go, and only 10 of them he's yet to even discover... we're running out of time and he's gaining more men to fight his war," Doing the math in my head, I made sure there was a thin veil of magic between the driver and me.

While we spoke over important things, I couldn't help the heavy feeling in my chest. What would happen after the airplane right to the girls would be uncomfortable for me but still, I'll be able to meet another ally.

One that will change my life in either a positive or negative way.

"What time should I come to pick you up from the airport?" Ivy asked me with a frown.

As I opened my mouth to respond I saw the silver gates to the cemetery that I needed to get to. Knocking on the taxi driver's seat, I tossed some money to him before jumping out of the car once he slowed. The man yelled about change but I kept walking, determined to find the artifact that could change the game.

Once I passed the gates I could feel the barrier to the witch's cemetery accept me instead of keeping me out or causing me discomfort.

There was a story Ivy had told hundreds of years ago in the little meet-ups we had when we were in our dreams. I almost wanted to cry from the only good memories I had as a child came from those two women. Fate had connected me to them to give me some light in my life.

Even though we're all broken in our different ways, we've kept each other from shattering completely. Unfortunately, Vivian was forced to splinter to the ground multiple times all in order to survive. I've learned a lot from them because within the walls of the temple I grew up in, there was a lot of judgment. Had I gone down the road the priests and priestesses had planned for me, I wouldn't have been able to truly put myself in their shoes.

I would've ended up worse than the people of the temple.

It was the large stone entrance among the graves placed on the floor that caught my attention. The doors to this had vines and cobwebs all over the place, a sign that no one has been there in a long time. If you were to look out at the large hills of gravestones, a lot of them were old and forgotten.

As I open the heavy stone door and waited for the dust to fall, I couldn't help but wonder if that would be in the future.

Dead and so far under the ground that even the memories of me are buried?

No... now isn't the time for such thoughts.

I have to hurry before the vampires catch rumors of me crawling around Spain. They can't do much about it but it'll be a pain in my ass.

Especially since the master vampire of these lands is just as crazy and old as Valentino. He just prefers to keep his creepy shit in the dark.

Yes... It's time to get to work.

Before it's too late and the future changes once more.
