7 Chapter 7: Hunger

I shook as he said those words. "W-What? W-Well that may be true, but that doesn't mean that I will marry you! Wait, Y-You weren't trying to tempt me before?" I then slapped my mouth to prevent me from saying anything else. 'What is wrong with me?! Why can't I stop saying stupid things that will force him on me more??!!'

He smiled and ran his fingertips down my spine making me shutter. "Don't worry, I'm not planning to marry you anytime soon. I want to give you a chance to fall for me, even though I have already fallen for you. After all, we've only known each other for twelve days, and you weren't even awake for most of it." I removed my hand shocked. "What?! I was asleep for twelve days?!" He nodded. "And you've become weaker because of it. If it weren't for my magic, you would be dead right now. I came here to take you to the dining hall so you could start to regain your health, but you weren't here."

I looked down feeling guilty. 'Damn he's confusing. One minute he's selfish and cruel, then the next, he's sweet and generous.' I thought looking back up to him. "I-I'm sorry." He then rested his chin on my shoulder and whispered in my ear. "Now that I know how you feel, I'll tell you that I am yours as well. You can play with me however you want, and I won't stop you." He pulled away smiling, leaving me frozen.

"You look beautiful in that dress, just like I thought you would. Come with me." He got up off the bed taking my hand and pulling me with him. He led me through the hall, still holding my hand. I blush looking up at him, thinking about what he said. 'Play with him? As in, I can do whatever I want to him?' I immediately look down. 'No! Don't you dare get any ideas! He's mean remember! Mean!' I relax my face and look to his large, rough hand holding mine. 'Besides. He's probably taking me to his room where he will try and seduce me. The only reason he likes me is because he wants my soul. He's just a greedy jerk.' This got me thinking about what happened to Mary. 'Why do I still have no idea who the bad guy is?!'

We come up to a room, and Sythyon opens the door slowly, making me even more nervous of what was inside. We walk in, and to my surprise, there is a large table in the middle of the room with a large banquet waiting for us. The table is covered in plates of delicious food, from pastries and cakes, to roasted bird, sausages, and soup dishes. I gasp when I see it, realizing how hungry I am. "What is this?" Sythyon looks to me and smiles. "Care to join me for breakfast?" I look at the food then back at him. "Do I have a choice?" He laughs and let's go of my hand, walking to one end of the table. "And you say you don't know me."

His remark makes me smile for a second and walk up to him. He then takes the chair at the end of the table, and slides it out for me to sit. I hesitate for a moment, and sit in the chair still tense. He pushes my seat back and then walks to the other side of the table. I look to the food hesitant. 'Iv'e never seen so much food in my life, but It feels wrong to just take it.' I continue to battle with myself, until Sythyon notices my fear. "Anything you desire is yours to take. Don't be rude and refuse my offerings." I straighten up shocked.

'Well if you put it that way...' I then reach for a roll, and take a bite. "Mmm!" I forgot how good food was. 'I haven't eaten in so long, my mouth is still watering even after I took a bite!' I thought as I take another bite, and start to fill my plate. A few minutes in, I look over to Sythyon. He sat down at the other side of the table, and is sipping wine out of a silver goblet, his plate still empty. I tilt my head to see him clearer through the mountain of food. "A-Aren't you going to eat anything?" He looks up and smiles at me. "Human food doesn't suit my tastes too well. It's flavorless to demons. I'm just here to make sure you regain your strength, and enjoy your company."

My eyes open wide. "I couldn't possibly eat all of this! There's too much!" He laughs again. "Of course, I don't expect you to. I Just didn't know what you liked." I lay back in my chair. "Oh. But, couldn't you see what I liked through my soul?" He took another sip of wine and placed down the goblet. "I can only see memories, I cannot read thoughts. All your life you've only gotten the worst food and water, and I know that you probably didn't like that." I felt a little relieved. 'I'm glad he can't read my thoughts. At least I get that privacy.'

Then my brain started to ask questions, and I couldn't help but ask. "Out of curiosity, what do you eat?" His smile faded away, and he raised an eyebrow. "Do you really want to know the answer to that question?" I shrugged. "How bad could it be?" He tilted his head as if he was admiring my bravery. "I eat the same thing angels eat. Souls and blood."

Fear striked me along with his words, but I didn't focus on them, and my confusion took over. "Angels eat souls and blood?" An irritated look crossed his face, and he looked away. "Yes. Angels are such filthy, disgusting creatures who know nothing other than to serve their overlord." I smirk at his reply. "I expected you to be against them, considering you're their natural opposite." His eyes went straight back to me, his expression unchanged.

His cold stare made me remember how scary he was, and I went back into my shell. "S-Sorry." He noticed I was shaking again, and sighed. "Listen to me. If an angel ever sees your soul, it will be consumed with greed, and kill you with no hesitation, only to offer it to their overlord. That is why you must always stay by my side. I know I can let my anger get the best of me sometimes, but no matter what I say, I care about you, not only for your soul." I immediately blush and look down, surprised with the passion in his voice. "Y-Yeah right. N-Nice try. T-This is just a-another attempt to seduce me right?" He sat back surprised, then smiled again.

"Another? Oh my dear, if I was trying to seduce you, you would have been seduced already." I look up quickly annoyed, still blushing. "You're that confident huh?" He took another sip of wine. "Even more so now that I know how you feel about me." I glared at him and crossed my arms. "You're never going to let that go, are you?" He smirked. "Nope."
