(Unedited) Are You Suppose To Be Here?

Growing up in a household where alcohols and drugs were the reasons for her uneasy rest at night, Vany had swear off it the chance she gets. However, she realized that it will be a little difficult to connect with the people around her age because college is the one place that kids her age enjoy their freedom. Vany was fortunate to have two very understanding roommates and an even more understanding group of friends who she befriended a few days after moving into her dorms. Even so, while her friends are out partying on the lawn in front of the dorms, Vany sat on the connected balcony of her neighbors (whom are the group of friends she had made) and watch the stars. Though outgoing as she is, the said student sometimes like to be alone and enjoy the quietness of the night.

However, this was broken when she heard laughter from a group of males coming up the stairs that join her balcony with her neighbors.

"Hey let's go check out our old dorms!"

"Are you an idiot? Most freshmen already moved into the dorms!"

"They're all partying out on the lawn by now. Don't worry."

"Okay Roy, we should head back. You had a little bit too much."

"Oh shut up Xenon. I'm just enjoying myself. Besides, Kaiden is drunk as well."

"But I'm not as wasted as you. I'm just...tipsy."

Hearing the boys talk, Vany got a little bit nervous. It's honestly not safe to be alone when there is a group of drunk college boys around, especially when you're a girl. But before Vany can move away, the group already made their way up the stairs and is standing in front of her, or per say, the dorms they were going to visit.

From what Vany can tell, they are a group of five boys, all standing at different height that is taller than her and is of different ethnic backgrounds, and mind her, they were all pretty attractive too. Especially the man standing in back. For an Asian man, he is pretty tall. Towering at a height of 6'0ft, the said student is also handsome. His almost black hair slightly tousled frames his angular face and his deep brown eyes and Asian features give him qualities that Vany finds charming.

"Oh?" the male that she had been focused on states.

Feeling a little confident, Vany asks the boys, "Hi? Are you suppose to be here?"

"Uh," another male speaks up, "Not really?"

"We are sorry if we are bothering you. We didn't know this dorm became the girls dorm."

Rubbing her head sheepishly, Vany comments, "Actually, this is still the boys dorm."

The first male that spoke to her then questions, "Huh? Then are you suppose to be here?"

Vany defends, "Ok well first of all, I'm allow to be here because I know the guys living here and second, I'm technically suppose to be at the welcoming party on the lawn, but I'm not a party person so here I am. Besides, I don't remember seeing you guys in this dorm. Who are you?"

"We're alumni," the fifth member of the group replies, "We are back on business and we thought we would check the dorms we lived in when we were freshmen. We didn't actually know that anyone would be here as we thought everyone would be at the party."

Vany stutters out, "I-I see."

The seniors and freshman all stood in an awkward silent while the music of the party blasts in the background. The raven head female takes multiple glances at the taller males before looking away shyly. Meanwhile, the young men are wracking their minds about what to say to the younger girl. The fact that all of them are drunk and only two of them are actually still sober does not makes it better. They don't want to scare the girl into calling the campus police, but they don't want to just leave suddenly and making them look suspicious. But it was the attractive Asian man standing in the back that initiates the conversation again with the freshman.

"Um...my name is Kaiden. I'm really sorry about the misunderstanding. We didn't want to scare you or anything."

"What makes you think I'm scared?" Vany stubbornly counters.

Kaiden raises an eyebrow and answers blatantly, "You look like you are going to beat us with that chair."

The girl finally notices that she was gripping the black chair in front of her tightly before she releases her hold, her cheeks lighting up in embarrassment. "Sorry."

Kaiden smiles, "There's nothing to be sorry about. I myself would be wary, considering that you are a girl and we are a group of drunk men, so if anything, you are just defending yourself."

"Yeah," Vany mutters quietly as she circles her arms around herself as if shielding herself from them.

Kaiden continues, "Well these are my colleagues. The one on my right is Xenon. The one on my left is Zander. The one slouching over in the back is Roy and the one helping Roy is Neptune."

Vany waves shyly, "Hi? My name is Vany."

Xenon can be assume to be European from his brown tan skin, blue eyes, and Western feature. Roy seems to identify more with the Latinex ethnicity with his dark skin tone, dark brown eyes, and unique facial features that Vany have become acquainted with from her community. Neptune has pale skin, blue eyes and identify with the northern hemisphere of America. And Zander seems to be mix of eastern and western culture with his western jawline and eastern eyes.

The rest greet back except for Roy, who was completely knocked out. The girl was hesitant in suggesting the following, - seeing that it is not her dorm- but seeing that the man was unconscious, Vany couldn't help but suggests that they should come inside to lie him down, which Neptune immediately agree to. Entering the brightly lit living room of the suite, Neptune and Xenon lay Roy on the couch while Kaiden and Zander sat next to them and Vany sits across from them. It was then that Kaiden continues their conversation.

"What major are you?"

Vany answers, "I'm Pharmacological Chemistry. What is yours-I mean...what was yours?"

Kaiden replies, "I got my master in International Business."

"I got my bachelor in Aeronautical Engineering and Aviation," Xenon joins in.

Vany awes, "You're a pilot?"

"How'd you know?" Xenon questions.

"My cousin is a flight attendant," the girl replies and then turn to the last two people who haven't answers.

Neptune grins, "Marine Biology and Oceanography."

"That's his night job," Kaiden teases, "He is actually an Olympic swimmer."

"Wow," Vany awes, "That's amazing....What about you....Zander?"

Zander responds stoically, "Master in International Business and BS in Law."

Vany praises, "You guys are monsters. I would never be able to do something like that especially in the STEM field."

"Don't worry," Xenon assures, "Our majors are technically easy compare to what you are going into."

Vany refutes, "We can't say that some majors are easier than others. Every major has its difficulty.....So, what about Roy? What's his major?"

Kaiden laughs, "Computer Engineering. So tell me Vany, what are you doing here alone and not hanging with your new friends?"

"To be honest," the girl states, "I'm not a big fan of parties and loud music. My friends love it though so I told them to go on without me. I am also a little tired from today."

Neptune chimes in, "What did you do today?"

Vany answers enthusiastically, "My friends and I walked around campus looking for our classes. It took a few ours but it was worth it."

Xenon then asks, "How much of the campus were you able to cover?"

Vany scrunches her eyebrows and pursed her lips, thinking. "I want to say 3/5 of the campus, excluding the graduate area. So yea, but don't worry. I'm okay with being alone sometimes. It helps me relax from a long day."

"That's good to here," Kaiden nods, "I hope we didn't disturb your relaxation time."

Vany shakes her head, "Not at all. It is...nice, being able to talk to you guys. Unexpected, but nice nonetheless. So where are you all from?"

Kaiden chirps, "I'm from China."

Neptune follows, "Canada and Roy is from City SF here."

Zander states, "City SD."

Xenon nods, "City SD as well. Zander and I are actually childhood friends."

"That's nice," Vany smiles, "I have a childhood friend as well, but she doesn't go here."

"So where are you from?" Kaiden asks.

Vany replies, "I'm from here but City SA."

Xenon comments, "So you are...I want to say Vietnamese?"

"Yes!" Vany nods, "How'd you know?"

Before Xenon can reply, Zander speaks up, "Your accent."

"Is it that noticeable?" questions the girl.

Zander shakes his head, "No. I can just tell."

Vany cocks her head to the side in confusion. The older mean just chuckles before Kaiden explains to Vany, "Vany, Zander has a minor in language as well. He is fluent in over 5 languages and Vietnamese is one of them. But he is right, you do have a slight accent."

Vany turns her gaze to the handsome man sitting across from her, "You know Vietnamese?"

Kaiden confirms, "Yes. My parents has a small branch in Vietnam and I started off learning how to handle my family business from that branch. So I spent a good few years in Vietnam."

"That's really cool," Vany gushes, " I was actually born in Vietnam and my family moved here when I was 5."

The conversation continue as so and Vany becomes a little more comfortable with the drunk men that she so foolishly trust. However, because of this choice, the young girl has just thrown herself into a very complicated and difficult journey in the future.

Procrastination is a horrible pet peeve. Please don't kill me.
